Freya tentatively said, “I’m looking for Orion.”

“Oh, he’s in the shower…”

Freya, “…”

“I see, when he’s done showering, ask him to give me a call…”

Before Freya could finish her sentence, she was interrupted, “Well, I think he might not have the time.”

Freya furrowed her brow.

Her forehead was almost tied in knots.

Did they think she had some kind of relationship with Orion?

Asserting her dominance?

“I’m not his girlfriend, just a friend looking for him for something, that’s all.” Freya explained, “Tell him to call me.”

She then hung up.

She sat on the couch.

A bit puzzled.

Is his way of dealing with heartache to go out and have fun?

Morton tugged at her hair, and Freya patted her son.

She collected her thoughts and focused on playing with Morton.

Morton is starting to walk more steadily now.

At first, he always used to stumble.

“Morton is amazing.” Freya hugged her son and kissed his cheek.

Kai, who had just finished eating and walked over, saw this scene, blinked, and thought to himself, he is still very happy now, but when he grows up, he won’t be able to escape the fate of being asked to study.

He plopped down on the couch.

Freya glanced at him, “Tired from eating, or tired from studying?”

Kai said, “Tired from studying.”

“Did you learn it?” Freya asked.

Kai, somewhat proud, said, “It’s not difficult, what is there not to know?”

Tsk tsk…

This tone.

Freya decided to test him, “Do you know ‘Spring Dawn’?”

Kai immediately recited, “In the morning, unaware of spring, everywhere the sound of birds crying. Throughout the night, the sound of wind and rain, how many flowers have fallen, who knows?”

Freya continued, “Snow.”

“A thousand mountains, birds no longer fly, ten thousand paths, where people have disappeared. A lone boat under bamboo raincoat, an old man fishing alone in the cold river snow.” Kai recited smoothly and accurately.

Freya nodded in satisfaction.

She had prepared a collection of three hundred Tang poems for Kai, arranged from simple to difficult.

She said, “I hope you continue to work hard. In appreciation of your good learning, you have no homework tonight.”

Kai happily jumped up, “Really great.”

Seeing him so happy, Freya couldn’t help but smile too.

It was getting late, she put Morton to bed.

Kai hardly needed anyone now, he washed himself, put on his pajamas, and climbed into bed by himself.

He’s not even that old yet.

Freya patted his head, “Do you think Mom’s too strict with you?”

Kai threw himself into her arms, “I love being with Mom.”

What he meant was, although it’s hard, he’s happy to be with her.

Freya hugged him as they lay down, “Mom went through the same when she was young, learning many things.”

Kai nodded, “Hmm.”

“Without culture, knowledge, a person lacks depth. I hope Kai will grow up to be a person better than Mom and Dad.” Freya gently patted his back to lull him to sleep.

He lay on Freya’s chest, enjoying the warmth of his mother.

Gradually, in this comforting environment, he fell asleep.

When he was sound asleep, Freya gently released him.

Seeing no signs of him waking up, she tucked him in and quietly left the room.

She returned to her own room, changing the bandage on her wound.

It had already scabbed over.

She used scar removal ointment.

If she didn’t, it might leave an unsightly scar.

She heard a sound at the door. Was it Orion coming back now?

She dressed and opened the door.
