Chapter 283
Chapter 283
In the end, Jensen stepped out of Grace's house and walked to the gate. As expected, he spotted
Heinz's car right next to the gate.
He walked over ferociously and kicked Heinz's car.
The door was opened from the inside.
Jensen hopped into the passenger seat. He glared at Heinz and said, "You're already here. Whatever
you want to do, just go ahead. Why do you need my help?"
"Please pass this to Grace." Heinz handed a chegue to Jensen.
Jensen had a quick look at it and noted that the amount was two million.
"That's a lot," Jensen exclaimed.
"Give it to Grace," Heinz said in a deep voice.
"Pfft!" Jensen sneered disdainfully and said, "It's indeed a lot of money. It would be tempting for
ordinary people. But for Grace, your money is nothing."
"Give it to her," Heinz said again, "It's her compensation."
"I won't." Jensen tossed the cheque back at him and said coldly, "You think this bit of money can
compensate her? Who do you think you are? Nobody cares about your money."
Heinz was silent as if he was not in the mood to
quarrel.
His wounded face was expressionless.
Jensen frowned and said, "Heinz, we are buddies who grew up together. I know you feel bad and
you're devastated, but if you really wish to compensate Grace, you need do it yourself instead of asking
me to do it on behalf of you."
"Just help me once," Heinz looked at him pleadingly.
Jensen was dumbfounded.
Heinz never liked asking for help, and he almost never did it.
But this time, the look in his eyes surprised him.
Jensen stared at him for a while, then said, "Okay, I'll help you this time. As for whether Grace accepts
it or not, I can't guarantee it."
"Okay," Heinz nodded and said. "Bring it to her."
"Okay," Jensen replied.
He took the cheque and got off immediately.
Heinz opened his mouth but no words came out.
After Jensen got out of the car, he stood at the side of the car, turned to look at him and said, "Would Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
you like to go in with me?"
"No!" He shook his head firmly.
Jensen's expression darkened. He frowned and said, "Heinz, you will really regret it. Believe me, you
should go in with me and apologize to Grace. Everything will be better. Don't come to me when you
finally regret it."
Heinz's eyes were full of mixed emotions, but he did not say a word.
Jensen was so angry that he slammed the door.
A few seconds later, Heinz turned the car around and drove away.
Watching his car leaving, Jensen called out, "Such an idiot! You'll regret it sooner or later."
When he returned to the house, Alice looked at him coldly and said, "Who let you out?"
"He threatened me," Jensen replied.
"What could he use to threaten you?" Alice asked.
"His house,” Jensen said. "The house that I live in now belongs to him."
Alice said, "You don't own a house?"
Jensen shook his head and answered honestly, "Yeah. I don't."
Unexpectedly, Alice laughed and said, "So you're broke too."
"Yeah, I'm not wealthy," Jensen said honestly.
Alice didn't look down on him. She said, "Don't buy things for us anymore. You don't have to keep up
appearances."
Jensen couldn't hide his surprise and said, "You are fine with it?"
"Why would I mind it?" Alice asked.
"I'm not loaded," he said.
"So am I," Alice said. "That's not a big deal."
Jensen said, "I thought you'd have higher standards on your boyfriend. At least in terms of financial
status."
"I'm not that superficial. And I'm not thinking too far head," Alice said. "Come in. Go wash your hands
and have dinner."
Jensen nodded and obeyed.
She didn't want to think about their future, but he did.
When he stepped in the house, Grace was already setting up the table.
She looked normal, nothing out of the ordinary.
Jensen was taken aback when he saw Grace's reaction.
She looked as if nothing had happened.
He walked over and handed the cheque to her. "Grace, Heinz asked me to pass you this. He said it's
your compensation."
Grace looked surprised. She threw a glance at it and took it from him.
Two million dollars.
It was absurd.
He really did compensate her with money, just like what Hermione had predicted.
"Okay," Grace nodded. "I'll take care of the rest. I'll meet him in person tomorrow and return it to him."
Jensen was astonished. "You're going to meet him?" he asked.
"Yes." Grace smiled and said, "There's no reason why we can't meet. I'm not as narrow- minded as
him."
"True." Jensen had a deep admiration for Grace. "You are much more magnanimous than him."
"I'll go with you," Alice butted in. She was worried that Grace would be taken advantage of.
"You don't have to," Grace said. "I'll see him tomorrow afternoon. You pick up Little Gary from school,
okay?"
"Okay." Alice had no choice but to compromise.
It was all set.
The next afternoon.
The next afternoon, Grace got off work an hour earlier and went straight to Jones Estate.
When she arrived at the front desk, she said to the receptionist, "Hi, my name is Grace Smith. Could
you please inform Mr. Jones that I would like to see him."
"Did you make an appointment?" the receptionist asked.
"No," Grace said frankly. "Would you mind notifying him?"
The receptionist replied, "Miss Smith, I can't let you in as you didn't make an appointment."
"That's why I asked for your help to notify Mr. Jones. How would you know he won't see me if you
haven't informed him?" Grace's tone was cold and she looked at her straight into the eye.
Her imposing manner led the receptionist to pick up the phone and reported it to the President.
Soon, a message came from the other side, "Let Miss Smith in."
Grace took the elevator and went straight to the president's office.
They arrived in no time.
As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she saw Lester guarding the door. She gave him a thin
smile and said, "Assistant Lester, why are you here?"
"Miss Smith, the President is waiting for you in his office. You can go in now."
Grace nodded. "Thank you, Assistant Lester. I'm here to return something. I'll leave in a short while."
Lester was a bit surprised and asked, "You won't be long?"
"Yes," Grace nodded.
Lester said, "Miss Smith, I don't know if I should say this."
"Go ahead," Grace said calmly.
"The President..." Lester paused and continued, "...is just trying to save his face. Can you give him an
out? It worried me to see you two dwelling on this matter."
Grace smiled and said, "You are a good person, Assistant Lester."
Lester scratched his head in confusion. What did she mean? So did she agree or not?
Saying nothing, Grace smiled and went inside.
