Chapter 284
Chapter 284
When Grace pushed the door of the President's office open, she saw Heinz sitting on the chair.
His gaze was fixed on the door and it looked sharp, complicated, and deep.
So, as soon as Grace pushed the door open, she saw the man in front of her.
Startled, she walked in and closed the door. She looked at Heinz calmly until she reached the desk in
front of him.
She noticed that his face was still slightly bruised, and there was still blood stain at the corner of his
mouth.
She took out the check from her bag and said, "Mr. Jones, this is the check that you asked Officer
Charm to give it to me yesterday. I'm giving it back to you now."
Heinz's expression changed.
He finally understood her purpose of coming to him, which was to return the check.
His gaze was still tightly locked on Grace, with his sword-shaped eyebrows tightly knitted.
She looked beautiful as always. It seemed like she was not affected at all.
On the contrary, he looked disheartened. He was even childish enough to have a fight with his best
friend.
But Grace was doing so well.
He had an unsettling feeling in his heart, and just stared at her as she put the check on his table.
With a faint smile forming on her lips, Grace said, "Mr. Jones, please don't do something this childish
again. I have said before that I don't need your compensation." "Then what do you take me for?" he
said coldly.
"Maybe I was blind," Grace said without haste. "I guess I was just unlucky to have met you."
"You're unlucky?" Heinz said sarcastically. "You deceived my feelings, and now you're sneering at me?"
Grace looked at him calmly and had no intention to avoid him at all.
Heinz was fuming. He didn't understand why Grace was behaving so nonchalantly.
It was as if he was the one who had done something wrong.
Grace took a breath and said, "No, I was not sneering at you. You humiliated me by giving me the
check, Mr. Jones. It was my fault for what happened in the past. I should have told you that I have a
son, and I apologize for that."
"Huh!" Heinz sneered and said, "You didn't confide in me so that I'd accept your son after I accepted
you?"
"Yes," Grace nodded. "I hoped that after you've developed feelings for me and accepted me, then you
would accept my son, and not the other way round."
She would not be able to bear it if it's the other way round.
She didn't want Heinz to be with her just because of his son.
"You are a selfish woman." Heinz said in a selfmocking way, "It's really ironic that I have been fooled by
you all the while. "
Grace's face turned pale and she smiled gently. His words pierced her heart.
But she didn't want to think about it anymore.
If they were incompatible, there was no use in hanging on to the relationship.
She was afraid that she didn't have the guts to overcome the barriers.
"I've returned you the check and I'll make it clear. Everything is over between us. From now on, we'll go
our separate ways. I hope we don't contact each other again."
"Don't worry. I would rather be single forever than to have a woman like you as my wife." Heinz stared
at her coldly with a sneer on his thin lips and said in a colder voice, "I won't contact you again, don't
even dream about it."
He already didn't mind the fact that she was no longer a pure woman. There was no way that he would
come to terms with how she had deceived him.
Grace nodded and said with a pale face, "That's what I wish too. Don't get in touch with me anymore
regarding the check or anything else."
Heinz's eyes were filled with rage, and his lips trembled slightly. "I don't casually date women. Even if
you're not a good woman, since I've dated you, I'd compensate you. Take this money."
"Ha." Grace sneered and said, "No matter how bad you think I am, I'm not selling my body. You don't
have to insult me like that."
"I'm compensating you for wasting your precious time with me. Are you still unsatisfied?" Heinz said.
Grace glanced at him and turned to leave.
She didn't want to talk to him.
"Stop." Heinz stood up suddenly, pushing the chair back. He marched towards Grace, grabbed her
wrist, and snapped, "Take the money then you can leave."
He said it with an unhurried tone, but his voice was extremely deep. The sharpness of her tone made
her shudder.
Grace pursed her lips and looked up to meet his eyes. Then she turned to look at his hand that was
holding her wrist and said coldly, "Let go."
Tit-for-tat.
Neither of them would give way.
They came to a standstill. Heinz wouldn't let go of her hand.
He was so strong that it felt like he could crush her bones.
He exerted so much strength.
Grace fixed her gaze at him and said nothing.
He was pissed by her stubbornness.
"Take the money back," Heinz spoke again. There was a hint of restraint in his tone.
"I don't want it." Grace refused coldly.
"What should I do to make you receive it?" He was persistent and not giving up.
"Let me go," she said while trying to break free.
He said, "Grace, didn't you approach me so that I could raise your child? You want a better life, don't Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
you? So why are you refusing my money?"
Once again, Grace was insulted.
She felt a sharp pain in her heart that was indescribable.
She sneered, "Since you put it that way, yes, I approached you because of your money. Two millions
dollars? How is this enough?"
"So you really did it for the money. How much is enough for you?" Heinz asked furiously.
"Even if you give me all your fortune, you won't be able to make up for the hurt you've caused me,"
Grace said coldly. "If you insist, fine! Give me all your money."
Since he had insisted on giving her the money, she had resorted to using reverse psychology because
she thought that it was the best way to refuse.
There was a stubborn look in her eyes. Her glistening eyes showed nothing but the grievance of being
wronged.
Watching her, Heinz's heart broke a little.
He then said coldly, "It's not worth spending all my money on you. If you think it's not enough, how
about 10 million dollars?"
