Eve’s POV

“Are you mad at me Liam?” He doesn’t look it but I thought I should ask because I knew I did him wrong.

He turned the steering gently and looked at me.

“Why would I be mad at you?” He asked me back, smiling.

“I was a bit furious and it took over me”

“It’s called Jealousy Justify yourself all you want; if you want but I’m not complaining at all because it’s normal to be jealous” Liam said; he drove with one hand and held my hand with the other.

“I really trust you Liam, I don’t just know where jealousy suddenly came from” I said.

“The Jealousy showed your level of trust in me and remember I said I would do the same too” He said and I finally put on a smile..; “So it was Daisy who told you, she saw me with Janet”

“Huh.. no” I shook my head and he scoffed..

“What if I told you that I saw her but because I was too shocked and carried away by what Janet was telling me.. so I ignored her”

“Huh.. I.. I didn’t mention anyone name” I said..

He smiled and said; “Okay I’ll pretend you didn’t”

I smiled and looked away..

“And how are you now?” He asked me..

“The news and whole thing came as a shock to me but I think it’s reducing. Now I know somethings I do not. It didn’t changed what have happened afterall” I said. “Plus more than excited that I met my long time best friend” I told Liam and he smiled.

“I’m glad I could help you” Liam said.

We got home soon and when Robert told us that Mr Maya wasn’t around yet.. he drove in, said Hi to Helen and his brother.. collected the marriage papers. He smirked as he scanned through it.

“I regret ever telling you sign this”

“Don’t regret anything” I said.

“You learnt that positive vibes from me. Telling Yourself the opposite thing” Liam said.. and I smiled because he’s right

“I need to leave now before he returns” He said.

“Yeah” I said, followed him to the car ~ lot then I watched him drive out..

“So what’s the matter?” Helen asked me when I returned.

“Ugh! It been a stressful sad day I’ld say” I said.

“Sorry… I can see that you both are working really hard, it was the marriage contract papers he came to get right? ”

“Yeah, there’s lot more.. Mr Maya is a pedophile, there’s this woman that know about him and she has been on his neck ~ now for his wealth”

“What woman?” Helen asked

“My best friend’s mom. She forced Mr Maya to get married to him” I told her and she opened her mouth in awe.

“How did you find out all this?” She asked me.

I took my time to explain everything to her and fought back the tears from pouring.

“Mr Maya is the one in big trouble now”Helen said.

“Shit!” Mark entered my room.

“Mark! Did.. did you overhear us?” Helen asked.

“I had to; I was eavesdropping. I just wondered what was going on when Liam came and left in hurry” Mark said.. “So I eavesdropped, I didn’t know this is what I would getting though” He said, We stared at him waiting for him to proof he heard us before we tell him the whole thing

“My Dad brought this upon himself, now I really pity him” He added.

“I’m sorry” I said.

“At the same time, I’m glad you never had anything s*xual to do with him” Mark remarked..

“Thanks to the pills” He added

“Huh?!” Helen and I exclaimed.

“What.. what pills?” I managed to ask.. like I knew nothing.

“The one that makes him sleep off and forgets anything that happened during the hours he is asleep” He responded.

“Mark, you… know about it” Helen said.

“Hmmn yeah” He responded.

“H.. how?” I stammered.

“I noticed, at first I thought it was normal when he doze off while we were still having dinner but it got out of hands, Dad wakes up late yet still sleepy most days… So I decided to test the last drop of liquid in his glasscup the night before he travelled”

We were speechless to even say the least.

Mark is an undergraduate medical doctor.

“.. so you have been giving it to my father” He said.

“I’m sorry”

He gave a small laugh.. “There’s nothing to be sorry about. But please stop it already. it’s enough or it might worsen” He continued; “My father deserves everything that is happening to him because of the so many people he must harmed but still, I feel very bad for him” He spoke slowly.

“Sorry” Helen and I said to him.

“He is still my father” He lastly said then moved out of my room. nodded.

“Mark is mild. He would recover it soon don’t worry” Helen said..

“I’ll be at the kitchen okay?” Helen said.

“I’ll join you” I answered her after taking a very deep sigh.

“Tag along”

We met Robert climbing up the stairs..

“Why is he like that?” Robert asked us.

“Who?”

“Mark, Uhm.. he discovered that..”

“Not Mark. Mr Maya” Robert said

“What, Mr Maya.. is he back?” I asked.

“Yeah… I thought he just left your room now. Didn’t he?”

“No. We didn’t even know he is back”

“He is quiet, he responded sheepishly”… And he just retired to his room”

Helen and I looked at eachother… We were surprised; Normal, Mr Maya would have announced his arrival or would have come knocking on my door.

“Did he come with any lady?” I asked.

“Nah and he doesn’t look too good to flirt or relate with anyone” Robert said.

“He’ll come around. He is probably just taking his time” He stated and pulled me into the kitchen with her.

When we were done cooking, we met Mr Maya already in the living room.

“Uhm, good evening Mr Maya” I said to him.

“I arrived only few hours ago” He said even when I didn’t ask and I nodded.

Helen greeted him perfunctorily too then she moved to the dining.

“Dinner is ready” She announced.

“Uh.. could you please keep mine in the room?” He asked.

“Huh? What?” .. “I can’t step into your room” She mumbled.

“Err.. sorry, I’ld just do that myself” He said.. stood up, walked to the dining table, took his meal and went to his room.

“He is.. strange” Helen remarked.

“Exactly. He didn’t even look at me twice, like he used too. Do you think he is changing?” I asked and she rolled her eyes.

“Ugh! Change my foot. Is it just when his woeful secret is about to go viral that he wants to change” She said.

Yeah! It’s late for him to change especially now that the worst is about to fall on him.
