Eve’s POV

As usual, Helen and I gisted when I returned from work; is it because we are of the same gender, is that why she matches my vibe? Then teased me about my secret lover whom I still didn’t say. Almost did, I mean I wish she knows everything about us. Mr Maya suddenly called her phone disrupting our funny and idle moment. He told her to go set the dinner already. Yeah, that man! What on earth is he up to? perhaps, with Mrs Pitts.

Just after Helen left, my phone rang and it was Liam.. we spoke for a while and I laughed out loud even when I tried not to.

There was a knock on my door, followed by; “It’s me Mark”

“Ohh.. Talk to you later Liam” I said, didn’t wait for him to complete the three words before I hung up the call.

“Come on in Mark” I permitted and he did.

“Hey… Hi Mark” I said to him.

“Hello Eve” He responded, looking despondent as he took a seat.

“Is anything the matter Mark?” I asked him, I thought it was supposed to be just Hello and Hi..

“Liam is fine. He was the one I just spoke with now” I told Mark smiling but he wasn’t smiling too.

“Ohh” He mouthed..

“What is it Mark?” I asked him again.

“I’m sorry Eve, I don’t think I’m in support of your relationship with my brother” He said.

“Why’s that?” I blurted.

“Because…” He paused and stood up nervously..” Eve it can’t work out.”

“Why?” I asked again.

“Because you are sleeping with my father! Liam may not be complaining because he doesn’t know that you are having s*x with my father”I was dumbfounded… I couldn’t believe my ears.

“I don’t think you know what best for you. You can’t have the both of them, not even Liam. Hadn’t been there’s nothing s*xual between you and our father… then it would have been a different case entire..” He said.

“There’s nothing s*xual between your father and I, Mark” I said.

“Denying after I heard it myself this morning? Is it because I supported you?” He said.

“No, no Mark. I don’t think you would believe me but your brother trust me” I said.

“I do too. I know you are not wayward but but… I’m confused.. I love my brother so much” He said.

“I love Liam so much too and I don’t ever think of hurting him” I said.

“But your affair with our father is literally getting s*xual”

“No Mark. I have never had s*x with him” I said.

“What?… then what’s the s*xual drama this morning all about?” He asked me.

“He thinks we did, that’s why he simply can’t remember anything that happens whenever I claimed to have spend the nights with him” I told Mark.

“Hmmm” He stared at me somewhat, suspicious.

“What did you do to my father?” He asked me.

“Huh… nothing… nothing at all” I stuttered, forcing out a smile. Just then Helen bumped into the room.

“Am.. I.. interrupting something?” She asked, looking at the two of us.

“No” Mark and I said together.

“Okay” She said as she came closer.

“Okay Eve. I’m sorry if I must have misjudged you” Mark said as he left the room.

“What happened between you two?” Helen asked me.

“Nothing really. Just a slight misunderstanding” I told her then sighed as I threw myself on my bed.

“Do you like Mark more than a stepson?”She teased me.

“What on earth Helen!” I cautioned and she gave a short laugh. “I’m just kidding you know but the look in your eyes seemed sort of LOVE related” She said and hissed.

“Before you guess anything else. Mark almost caught us..”

“What? Caught us, how?”

“The drug, pill stuff” I whispered… ” He asked regarding what happened between Mr Maya and I this morning” I told her.

“Oh, pretend you don’t why Maya is always dozing whenever you are with him” Helen said.

“Well.. It’s actually fine now” I said to her.

“Should I add some to his meal today. I mean the pills? That’s what I actually came to ask you” Helen said.

“Hmmm” I was quiet for a while before I said “No, don’t. He hasn’t made any advances towards me today afterall”

“That’s because he is not back from work yet” Helen said.

“I know right but don’t put anything in his meal today. I’m just scared but don’t worry about me, I’ll handle him incase he suddenly ask for s*x tonight” I said.

“You can do this Eve. I really hope there’s a way I can help you” She said and I nodded and watched her leave my room.

We had dinner altogether including Helen. Mr Maya didn’t ask her to join us though but I guess she was tryna step on his foot or be by my side just incase he suddenly wants me to sleep with him that night. Especially now she didn’t put any pill in his meal to make him sleep off.

But fortunately for me, he didn’t ask for anything but I noticed that he was gazing at me while he ate. I pretended I didn’t see that and acted like everything was normal.

We retired to our various room after dinner, super caring Liam called again.. saying he just wanted to hear my voice. He spoke for a long time till almost dawn.

Surprisingly the next day, I got to the office before Liam. Oops then, George, Daisy and Maria.. were lambasting me with questions; well I didn’t deny our relationship neither did I tell them the full story but they concluded that it was the neighborhood stuff that brought Liam and I together, little did they know that I actually lied that we were neighbors.

Immediately, they found out that Liam has arrived at the office, they flinched back to their various units.

“Hey” He said when he arrived at my office.

I stood up and folded my arms, like the way I met him yesterday… Yeah, I was expecting his arrival.

“You are just coming to the office Liam, you should be punished” I told him.

“Yeah, Punish me Mrs Eve” he stood at attention till I got close to him, forcing a stern look into his eyes but he stole a short kiss on my lips.

“You are so naughty” I hit his chest yet licked my lips.

“We both slept late last night, how do you make it here very early” He asked me.

“I’m used to waking up very early. You see.. That early to bed, early to rise stuff.. doesn’t work on me. I rise early notwithstanding the time I slept the previous night” I told him.

“Oh Okay. I have got no excuse then” He said.. glaring at my neck and I touched it and asked.

“What’s it”

“I didn’t know I’m gonna do this so early” He said as he dropped his briefcase and dipped his hand into his pocket then he brought out a small square box out of his pocket.

Is he trying to propose to me or something?

“Here! Ta-da!” He opened the box, there was a gold necklace.

“Whao!” I exclaimed.

“I guess I suck at surprising someone. I’m supposed to ask you to close your eyes while wear it around your neck” Liam said and I chuckled.

“But seriously Liam, this is beautiful” I commented.

“I know right, but I didn’t know what exactly to get you but then, I found out that you weren’t wearing any necklace. Girls love necklaces, so I got this” He said and I blushed.

He made me turn around, ~ backing him.. then he wore the necklace around my neck. When he was done, he came right in front of me instead of turning me around again.

“I love the necklace” I said, as I touched the shining golden pendant.

“I love you too” He said and I giggled, didn’t he hear me right?

He kissed me briefly on my lips, I don’t know why I suddenly enjoyed the sensation in a different way… That i just wanted to continue to be in that way with him but he halted the kiss without noticing my emotions.

“Do not miss our usual private meeting in my office” He said, as he took his briefcase and headed to his place.

“Usual private meeting? I thought it was supposed to be secretary to director business stuff” I whined.

“Well, I’ll be waiting or else, I’ll come carry you myself” He said… I just smiled and watched him leave.
