Chapter 451 Desolation
Chapter 451 Desolation
Skylar didn't possess any murderous intent. It was as though he was a swordsman without a soul. However, the coordination between his swordsmanship and his body was as precise as a computer. There was no flaw in his attacks.
Jonathan had fought against Skylar with Torrence before. It was an exhausting experience.
At that moment, Jonathan spotted Skylar coming toward him. I won't be able to climb up anymore. Skylar will cut the rope.
That was guaranteed to happen because Skylar's programming was near perfect. There would be no faults in his movements.
If the rope was severed while Jonathan was climbing it, he would be briefly suspended in midair.
Jonathan wasn't a match for Skylar in the first place. If he were to get stuck in the air, even just for a moment, the latter would definitely eliminate him.
With no other options, Jonathan escaped toward the west, which was the opposite direction of Skylar.
He bolted away at lightning speed.
Skylar immediately pursued his target.
Yeverie and Torrence were stunned when they witnessed that scene from above.
“I'm going to save Mr. Lawson.” Yeverie was extremely worried.
Torrence promptly stopped her. “I'll go. You hide somewhere here first.”
With that, he jumped down.
While Yeverie was also a Divine Master, she wasn't a combatant. Furthermore, she didn't have any weapons. If she joined Torrence, she would be targeted by the enemies and become a burden.
On the contrary, if she stayed up there, Jonathan and Torrence could focus better on defending themselves.
Yeverie was aware of that, which was why she didn't follow Torrence despite how worried she was.
Jonathan had been escaping for three minutes, while Skylar had been in hot pursuit behind him.
This is bad! Jonathan swiftly spotted the end of Demon Palace ahead of him, which was an ice wall. If I keep running away, I'll get myself trapped!
At that moment, he wasn't aware that Torrence was coming to his rescue. He didn't expect anyone to help him out.
What should I do?
Only Skylar is chasing after me right now. I don't see Mr. Moose anywhere. I think it's because Mr. Moose is a magician, so he's physically weaker and can't keep up with me. Skylar can because he already possesses that ability. This means Theos cannot force them to surpass the limitation of their physical bodies despite being able to control them. In other words, Skylar didn't actually become more
powerful. He's just extremely skilled with the sword. In other words, I'm still mightier than him!
A crucial realization dawned upon Jonathan.
What the f*ck. I can't believe Skylar became more threatening than me just because he has a sword. Does this mean I can't defeat Theos even when he's only utilizing Skylar's strength? This is infuriating! I've never been afraid of anyone when it comes to fighting before!
Jonathan put on the Dragon Binding Gloves.
He had just arrived at the end of Demon Palace. Before him was the ice wall.

Skylar caught up with him moments later and swung his sword, ready to split him in half.
Even though it seemed as if he was waving the sword casually, he was actually exerting much power. A single swing of his blade could almost bisect Jonathan's body.
When one made their move, an expert would know whether they were as exceptional as they had made themselves out to be.
Jonathan spun around like a snake and faced his opponent.
At the same time Skylar unleashed an attack, Jonathan attacked him from below, launching him into the air.
Jonathan was so skilled with the technique that it could be said he had mastered it completely.
Skylar's expression remained unchanged as he thrust his sword at Jonathan's head. He acted as though his victory against Jonathan was secured and that he was about to win.
Skylar's swordsmanship had changed.
His next move was horrifying and couldn't be blocked.
When Jonathan took on a defensive stance, he had already predicted Skylar to use that technique.
After all, Skylar was like a computer. Every action he took was the most precise and effective one.
Jonathan was also an expert combatant, so it wasn't difficult for him to guess what Skylar would do next.
Instead of dodging Skylar's sword strike, he clutched his legs and shoved him into the air.
Skylar wasn't as physically strong as Jonathan. He immediately toppled backward.
But he remained composed. He spun his sword and tapped the ground with the tip. Then, his body contorted in a strange way. Like a snake, he bent his body toward Jonathan before thrusting his blade at him.
It was an astonishing and appalling turn of events.
During the entire process, Skylar was in the air, his feet still in Jonathan's hands. Yet, he had performed a series of difficult and monstrous maneuvers without breaking a sweat.
Jonathan wasn't stupid. Without hesitation, he threw Skylar away, sending him flying.
He didn't stop there. He leaped and charged toward Skylar. He planned to eliminate him by punching his waist before he dropped to the ground.
Skylar was about to land just as Jonathan arrived below him. He swung his sword at his adversary.
That attack was performed without warning.
Jonathan was forced to sidestep the assault.
In that moment, Skylar landed back on the ground.
Jonathan realized that Skylar was his equal. It won't be easy for me to kill him as quickly as possible.
Right then, Torrence arrived.
The duo exchanged glances, murderous intent swelling in their hearts. We need to deal with Skylar here as soon as possible. After that, we'll destroy Mr. Moose. This is our only option for survival.
Skylar swept his gaze past the two without any expressions.
Jonathan and Torrence attacked at the same time. Both of them were experts. In fact, Torrence was capable of slaying multiple Golden Knights alone. Now that he had joined forces with Jonathan, he
became even more powerful.
Torrence tapped his foot lightly, causing a crack on the ground. In a flash, he appeared before Skylar and attempted to slice him apart.
The essence and beauty of swordsmanship lie in two simple actions: stabbing and slashing.
In terms of stabbing, one must strike like a lightning bolt so the opponent can't react in time.
As for slashing, one must be able to overpower the opponent with only a single wave of the weapon.
At the same time, Jonathan approached Skylar with Antelope Rhythm and grabbed his throat with Dragon Claw.
Skylar swung his sword at his skilled opponents without even observing their moves.
He attacked as though he aimed to eradicate a small army in a single motion.
No longer did he care about Jonathan's and Torrence's attack. He didn't mind getting injured if it meant he could land a hit on the duo.
While he could afford to sacrifice his body to execute an attack, Jonathan and Torrence couldn't.
Skylar was being controlled by the puppet primordial spirit. But if Jonathan and Torrence died, they wouldn't be coming back.
Skylar managed to force the duo back with a single strike.
He then took one step forward and stabbed Torrence.
Torrence blocked Skylar's blade with his own. Sparks flew as the swords clashed against each other. Skylar's sword was broken in half.
Just as Torrence was about to continue to attack, Skylar thrust the broken sword at him at lightning speed.
Torrence was forced to avoid it.
When Jonathan noticed that window of opportunity, he immediately grabbed Skylar's arm.
“Get down!” roared Jonathan.
Skylar sneered, abruptly turned around, and struck Jonathan's chest with his palm.
In that instant, Jonathan heard the sound of bones cracking.
It wouldn't have been possible for Skylar to turn around with Jonathan still grabbing his arm. Unfortunately for Jonathan, Skylar had performed an unexpected maneuver and snapped his own arm.
While holding Skylar's detached arm, Jonathan spotted his other palm flying straight toward his chest.
Shocked, he bent forward before hopping backward, successfully avoiding Skylar's attack.
Skylar didn't stick around and bolted away immediately.
Jonathan was stunned for a moment. He stared at Skylar's severed limb.
He could see the bone sticking out of the fleshy arm.
The blood that remained in the arm was cold and sticky. It was clear that Skylar's body had been dead for a long while.
Jonathan was sensitive to blood, so he was able to feel that clearly.
Torrence was stunned, too. Jonathan shouted, “Get him!”
Torrence shook his head. “Forget it. It's pointless to pursue him. Even if we can chop Skylar's body into pieces, we still won't be able to eradicate Theos' puppet primordial spirit.”
Jonathan chucked Skylar's arm away in disgust and shook his hand, shaking the blood off his gloves.
They were somewhat shaken by the events.
“Let's go. Let's get out of here first,” Torrence suggested.
Jonathan nodded.
Soon, they arrived back at the collapsed exit. Yeverie had been waiting for them above.
Her eyes reddened when she saw Jonathan and Torrence were still alive. She didn't know what was going on while staying up there. She was incredibly worried about the two men's fates.
Torrence turned to Jonathan. “You should go up first this time.”
Jonathan didn't reject the offer.
He stood on Torrence's shoulders, and Torrence pushed him up.
Moments later, Jonathan and Yeverie used a rope to pull Torrence up.
By then, night had descended upon Snowhaven. Snow still covered the land and sky.
The wind and snow were raging, making it difficult for them to open their eyes.
As they stared at the landscape, they felt a sense of desolation as though there was no place for them in the reality that birthed them.
This f*cking sucks! How the hell did I end up like this after spending only a little time in Moranta? Jonathan felt depressed.
