A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 320 The Most Heartbreaking Thing

“Shannon, are you feeling better?” Brendon tried to pull his hand away, but Shannon held on tightly. “I’m okay… Brendon, can you help me up?”

Brendon frowned but complied.

Shannon sat up and leaned against Brendon’s shoulder. She coquettishly said, “Brendon, I’m sorry for causing trouble for you.”

“It’s okay! Why did you suddenly come here?” Brendon’s tone was calm without blame.

Shannon then took the opportunity to hold onto his arm and spoke in a soft and sweet voice, “I didn’t mean to… I just wanted to come see Ranita. I didn’t expect that I would be so useless that I fainted after walking just a few steps.”

“I’m sorry!” After pausing for a moment, Shannon continued, “This has nothing to do with Ranita… don’t blame her.”

Dylan was stunned by Shannon’s actions.

“Shannon, can you stop being so ambiguous? You came here on your own accord and fainted on your own. It has nothing to do with us at all! Don’t try to shift the blame!” Dylan couldn’t stand it anymore; his teeth were starting to ache.

Shannon felt wronged.

“I… Mr. Webster why are you speaking so harshly? I didn’t say it had anything to do with all of you! And now that I’ve admitted my mistake…” Shannon bit her pale lips pitifully as she looked at Brendon with misty eyes, “Brendon, did I do something wrong?”

“You didn’t do anything wrong!” Brendon said coldly while glaring at Dylan.

Dylan rolled his eyes; he thought that Brendon must be blind not seeing through Shannon’s act.

She was clearly acting!

How could he not see it?

“Dylan, let it go,” Ranita pulled Dylan away from the situation while saying, “I need the restroom.”

At this point, Dylan immediately turned his attention back towards Ranita; he bent down and placed her shoes beside her feet while warning her carefully, “Be careful.”

He helped her up before being stopped by Brendon who said firmly, “I’ll take care of it!” He held onto Ranita’s arm tightly as she furrowed her brows trying shake him off saying, “No need!”

“Brendon, what is your problem?” Dylan almost exploded in anger.Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.

With an intense look in his eyes, Brendon grabbed hold of Ranita’s hand asking darkly, “Do you want Dylan accompany into the bathroom?”

“Mr. Stuart, what gives you any right over me?” Ranita replied calmly despite having been shaken inside due everything happening around them causing pain within herself.

Brendon remained silent as he stared at Ranita coldly creating an icy atmosphere between them all.

“Brendon…” Shannon suddenly called out softly, “my hand hurts a bit, can you help me take a look?”

Ranita’s lips were cold, “Miss Murphy is calling you, aren’t you going?”

Brendon’s long and thin lips tightened as he looked at her with cold and angry eyes. He was very upset.

As expected, Brendon let go of her hand and turned to Shannon. He held her hand and asked, “Where does it hurt?”

“On the back of my hand…” Shannon looked pitifully at him. The veins on her fair skin were raised due to the needle punctures. It looked quite miserable. “I feel much better when you’re by my side.”

Dylan listened with a cold face.

He supported Ranita and whispered, “Don’t mind them. I’ll get you another room later.”

Ranita nodded silently with lowered eyes. Although she was good friends with Dylan, she couldn’t really let him follow her into the bathroom like that. After using the restroom, Ranita washed her hands while looking at the back of them where there were thin needles piercing through blue veins causing sharp pain in her heart.

She moved away from it all while keeping an icy expression on both lips and eyes; comparing herself to others made it seem like she always lost out. Brendon would always care for someone else more than he ever did for Ranita herself.
