A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 319 Thank You for Making Room

“This is disgusting,” Ranita thought to herself. It felt like a sharp knife was cutting into her heart. But Shannon wasn’t finished yet. Her tears continued to fall, but her lips curled up in a mocking smile.

“Ranita… I heard you and Brendon got divorced. Thank you so much! Thanks for making room for me and my baby.”

“Now Brendon and I can plan our engagement party without any problems! Oh, by the way, when we set the date, I’ll make sure to tell you first. And I hope you’ll come witness our happiness.”

Shannon paused for a moment before biting her lip with a look of sadness on her face.

“Ranita… You will bless us, won’t you?”

Ranita’s face was cold she cursed silently in her mind.

Just then, the door was pushed open heavily and Dylan raised an eyebrow at Shannon.

“Miss Murphy,” he said sternly. “If you need to cry, please do it outside so that Ranita can rest peacefully.”

“As for blessings…” He shook his head in disgust at Shannon’s behavior.

“You and Brendon are both scumbags who deserve each other. Do whatever makes you happy but don’t bother Ranita!”

Shannon always liked playing the victim card; she furrowed her brows with teary eyes while asking Dylan why they were treating her this way.

“What did I do wrong? Why do all of you hate me?”

Dylan had no words left after facing such thick-skinned behavior from Shannon. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

“If you don’t understand anything,” he said sarcastically while pointing towards the door. “Maybe you should go find a dictionary and read every word carefully!”

“You may leave now!” Dylan ordered bluntly.

Shannon covered her mouth, looking at Ranita with a grievous expression. “Ranita, I won’t disturb you then…” With that, Shannon staggered out, as if she might faint at any moment.

“Thud!” Just as Shannon reached the doorway, her body suddenly collapsed, making a thudding sound as she fell to the ground!

“Murphy!” Dylan was startled. Despite his dislike for Shannon, witnessing someone faint right in front of him couldn’t leave him indifferent.

“Shannon!”

Ranita immediately pressed the call button.

A nurse quickly arrived, directing Dylan to help lift Shannon onto the bed opposite. Carlee, who was responsible for Shannon, soon arrived. Without moving Shannon, she conducted an examination and then administered some saline solution.

“Shanon!” Brendon arrived just then looking worried sick about what happened earlier.

“What’s going on? What happened?”

“Physically, there’s nothing majorly wrong. I think it’s just a bit of shock and lack of rest that caused her to faint,” Carlee paused and looked meaningfully at Ranita across the bed. “Mr. Stuart, Shannon has always had a delicate constitution, and now that she’s pregnant, she needs extra care and attention paid to her emotional well-being.”

“You stay here with her. She’ll wake up soon enough.”

Brendon replied softly with his eyes downcast.

After the doctors and nurses left, Brendon finally looked up at Ranita. “What happened? How did Shannon end up here?” His expression was cold.

Ranita felt like needles were piercing her heart as she tried to speak but then Shannon suddenly stirred and called out softly for Brendon.

Brendon walked over to Shannon who immediately reached out for his hand.

“Brendon… am I dreaming?” Shannon asked as she pulled his hand towards her face like a cat nuzzling against its owner. She affectionately rubbed against him several times in disbelief before looking into his eyes shining brightly with amazement saying, “It really is you!”
