A Successful Career After Divorce

Holly gritted her teeth, feeling that Ranita was a despicable person. How could she have a child when she had already left Boulderland Mansion?

“Shannon… don’t get too worked up about this! I heard from my mom that Ranita might be pregnant too!”

Sure enough, Shannon looked devastated. Her face turned pale and her eyes were misty with tears. “Really? How is Ranita now? She…”

“Why do you care about what happens to Ranita?” Holly sneered. “Thank goodness my brother divorced her already. I was afraid she would use the child to cling onto him! That little tramp went in and out of hotels with men even before officially divorcing my brother. Who knows whose bastard is inside her belly?”

Holly bared her teeth as vicious words spewed from her mouth, “Maybe it’s Dylan’s!”

Shannon grabbed Holly’s arm and said, “Don’t be so angry! Don’t say these things in front of Brendon or he’ll get mad.”

“Of course I know that!” Holly huffed, then added, “Shannon, you’re like my sister-in-law to me.”

Shannon forced a smile and said hesitantly, “Holly… we can’t be sure about anything yet! Brendon had been married to Ranita for several years after all; what if he still cares for her… then what will happen to me?”

Thinking maliciously in her heart, Shannon cried bitterly while pondering how she could get rid of the baby inside Ranita’s belly.

“Before Brendon didn’t want to keep the baby in my belly either,” Shannon sobbed uncontrollably while thinking aloud, “Now that Ranita is pregnant, will he regret divorcing her…”

Seeing Shannon crying so hard made Holly anxious.

“How could that happen?! Don’t worry…my mom is already figuring out how not to let Rantia interfere with your life!”

“Stop crying now, Shannon! Let me call Brendon right away so he can come over and keep you company.” As soon as Holly called him though, there was no answer.

Feeling embarrassed by this situation, Holly awkwardly said, “Brendon might be busy right now which is why he didn’t pick up his phone. Let me walk around with you instead?”

“I’m feeling a bit unwell. I think I want to lie down for awhile,” replied Shannon weakly as she sat on the bed lost in thought. “You should go back first.”

After sending off Holly, Shannon put some effort into finding out more information about Rantia.

Rantia was resting when suddenly someone knocked on the door.

Startled, Ranita thought it must have been Dylan who came over. She spoke softly, “Dylan, could you pour me a glass of water please?”

Soon, a water glass was handed over, but it was from the delicate hand of a woman.

“Ranita… here’s some water…”

Ranita’s head buzzed. She sat up gently and looked at Shannon with cold eyes. “You don’t have to trouble yourself, Miss Murphy. Is there something you need?”

“Ranita… I heard that you’re not feeling well, so I came to check on you!” Shannon paused and her eyes were filled with tears while her lips twisted in an odd way. Her voice sounded pitiful as she asked, “Is it true that you’re pregnant? Is Brendon the father?”

“What are you trying to say in such a strange way, Miss Murphy?” Ranita’s voice sounded indifferent as she had already argued with Shannon long ago. There was no need for pretense anymore; she found it tiresome.

Shannon burst into tears when she heard this and the teardrops rolled down her cheeks like beads.

“Ranita… I didn’t mean anything by it… I’m just terrible at expressing myself,” Shannon twisted her fingers even more pitifully now. “I just wanted to show concern for you. How are you feeling?”

“I know pregnancy can be very difficult; Brendon is still by my side but all alone…” Her voice trailed off into worry for Ranita.
