A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 289 Brendon, Get a Divorce

At some point, thunder started rumbling in the sky.

Ranita’s head was spinning from the noise. She was afraid of thunder and always stayed inside when it stormed. But she didn’t want to go back to her apartment now.

Even though it was her home, Brendon would be there and she didn’t want to stay if he was around.

“Beep beep beep!” Suddenly, Ranita’s phone rang. It was Dylan calling, “Ranita, are you going to my grandpa’s birthday party today?”

“Why didn’t you tell me?” As Diego’s grandson, Dylan should have attended the party but something came up and he arrived late at the estate only to find out that Ranita had gone home.

The estate staff were all part of the Webster family and they gossiped about everything. Dylan heard that Holly and Shannon had bullied Ranita which made him so angry he almost exploded!

“Holly and Shannon bullied you! I’m going to confront Brendon right now!”

“Dylan, today is your grandfather’s birthday party. Don’t make him sad by being late again; go spend time with him instead! I’m fine.”This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

Ranita paused before adding, “I know what I need to do.”

“You know what you need to do? You don’t seem like it at all! How dare Shannon act like this? You’re still married to Brendon; how could she…?” The other guests at the party were fine but the Webster family were hosts so they couldn’t keep secrets from them especially with Holly running her mouth off all day long.

Thankfully everyone attending Diego’s birthday bash had a reputation worth protecting so they wouldn’t just blabber about anything outside of their circle.

“Ranita… what are you planning on doing? You…”

Dylan felt competitive because of Shannon’s constant pressure on him, “Why don’t you tell Brendon about your child? He has a responsibility as your husband!”

“You just fought with Shannon! And you must win beautifully against her! It’s really disgusting!”

Ranita felt cold inside after hearing this conversation between Dylan and herself.

She pursed her lips tightly together, “No thanks; none of this matters anymore.”

She was tired. She couldn’t take anymore, especially when it came down loving someone like Brendon who wasn’t willing or able to reciprocate those feelings back towards her.

Some things can only be learned through experience even if one had good intentions initially…

“Dylan, enjoy yourself at your grandfather’s birthday celebration for now. I gotta go.” Just as she hung up on Dylan, Brendon called in…

She looked at his name flashing across the screen and decided not to answer his call.

Brendon called several times, but then stopped and sent a message, “Chris told me you went home. It’s thundering outside, so stay inside and lock your doors and windows. If you’re scared, turn on the TV or listen to music. I’ll be back soon.”

Ranita glanced at it and deleted the message.

The thorn that had been buried in her heart needed to be removed, even if it hurt. Otherwise, it would only fester and never heal.

Ranita took a taxi to a hotel.

Brendon stayed with Shannon until she calmed down before putting her in the car, “Shannon, go home and rest for a while.”

“Brendon, what about you? Are you going to find Ranita?” Shannon hesitated before blaming herself, “It’s my fault… Ranita is angry because of my pregnancy…”

“This has nothing to do with you. It’s my fault,” Brendon closed the door and instructed the driver to drive as he quickly got into his own car to find Ranita.

The apartment was quiet.

Brendon turned on some lights as he tiptoed around until he reached their bedroom only to find an empty bed. He searched again but confirmed that Ranita wasn’t there.

Rubbing his temples, Brendon tried calling her phone but no one answered.

Boom! Thunder rumbled! The wind blew in through an open window causing papers on a table nearby fall onto Brendon’s feet.

On one of those white pieces of paper was written just one sentence: Brendon, let’s get divorced.
