A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 288 Powerlessness

Brendon looked at her with an apologetic expression, but without the determination to stay. Ranita’s confidence vanished in an instant, leaving her heart feeling powerless and shattered like never before.NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.

“Ranita, don’t be too harsh. Can’t you see that Shannon is not feeling well? If something happens to her because of your obstruction, how will you take responsibility?” Holly scolded as she pushed away Ranita’s hand. “Let go of my brother! Don’t block our way!”

Ranita stumbled back a few steps and hit the wall behind her.

“Are you okay, Ranita?” Brendon asked with concern as he saw her hit the wall. He was about to rush out but was stopped by Shannon holding his arm tightly. “Brendon… please, can you take me to rest? I feel a little uncomfortable…”

Shannon cried with tears streaming down her face and pale lips that made her look fragile.

Helpless and weak.

Brendon glanced at Ranita before helping Shannon walk away.

The love that Ranita had carefully stored up shattered into pieces on the ground. She endured the pain and walked away without looking back.

“Stop right there! You want to leave just like that, Ranita? Shannon is kind enough not to blame you, but I’m not so easy-going!” Holly blocked Ranita’s path with a smug expression on her face.

“You saw my brother’s attitude towards Shannon; even one finger from Shannon is worth more than your whole body combined. So stop bothering my brother; he won’t ever like you.” Holly spat out these words while raising her chin arrogantly like a victorious rooster.

Ranita lowered her eyes in silence while Holly continued attacking, “Now that Shannon is pregnant with my brother’s child, our Stuart family treasure, do you think it’ll be enough if you don’t get divorced?”

“My brother has given his heart and soul to Shannon; if you don’t mind becoming a bitter woman for life, then it doesn’t matter.”

Holly, with her head held high, was about to leave but found Steve and Chris right behind her, especially when she saw Chris, her face turned red.

“Chris… I…”

Chris didn’t look at her, bypassed her, and walked to Ranita’s side, asking with concern, “Are you okay?”

Steve also approached, looked at her arm, and said, “Your arm is scratched. I have some ointment. I’ll get it for you.”

“No need, I have spare ones at home. I’ll have the maid bring them over.” Pausing for a moment, Chris said to Ranita, “Let me take you to the lounge to rest for a while.”

Chris fell behind a few steps, probably talking to Holly.

Holly ran away crying, and as she passed by Ranita, she glared at her fiercely. Steve comforted her, saying, “Don’t mind her. She’s been spoiled by Amiya. She’s bound to be doomed once she starts working!”

Ranita pursed her lips and didn’t say anything.

Her arm had scraped against the wall leaving some scratches and redness on her skin. She applied some ointment but still remained silent.

Chris instructed his driver to send Ranita home.

Having reached the point of extreme pain, there was no more heartache or tears left in Ranita’s eyes. She took off her dress and put it back into its box before taking a hot shower and opening up her laptop.

After hesitating for a moment, she typed out the first word.

The printer spat out one page with only a few lines of text on its snow-white surface; every word drained all of Ranita’s courage away from within herself.

She glanced at it briefly before feeding it into the shredder then picked up another blank sheet of paper writing down one sentence before leaving with luggage in hand from the apartment building.
