A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 290 Being Bitchy

Ranita had always been patient when it came to Brendon. But when she brought up the word “divorce,” Brendon crumpled the paper in his hand and continued calling her phone, which was still turned off.

Brendon’s heart was racing more than ever before. Ranita was really angry, very angry! After thinking about it, he couldn’t just let it go. He asked around but no one knew where she went.

“Come out for a drink.” Finally, Brendon called Chris.

They met at a private room in a club. Brendon drank one glass after another while Steve and Chris didn’t say anything and just drank along with him.

“Brendon, stop drinking.” Eventually, Chris stopped him. Brendon glanced at him and pushed his hand away before downing the contents of his cup.

Brendon’s cheeks were slightly flushed from drinking too much alcohol; his deep eyes lost their focus making him look softer than usual.

“Ranita wants a divorce,” he said aloud.

Steve perked up immediately upon hearing this news, “She only mentions it now? Ranita is really patient!”

“You’re not clear about your relationship with Shannon; I can’t even bear to watch that situation unfold between you two, let alone her.”

Brendon was already had enough anger inside of him as Steve’s words almost made him punch Steve right then and there.

Steve grabbed hold of his hand without flinching, “Am I wrong? If you want to fight me, then come on!”Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

The tension rose quickly between them until Chris intervened by stopping both men, “Can you two please stop being so childish? Can we all calm down?”

Steve gritted his teeth angrily as he poured himself another drink before chugging it down in one gulp then slamming the glass back onto the table hard enough to make noise, “I’m leaving!”

“Steve!” Chris called out to him. Steve smirked at the corner of his lips, “What do you care about what he does? He played a good hand poorly and now he’s reaping what he sowed!”

Steve slammed the door and left.

“Steve has been busy lately, hence the short temper,” Chris explained with a meaningful tone.

“Brendon, you have to choose between Ranita or Shannon carefully.”

Brenden pursed thin lips together tightly because he already thought things through thoroughly. He wanted Ranita by his side continuing being married to him! But life didn’t always go according to plan since Shannon was pregnant now!

He found himself stuck in a dilemma where there seemed like no easy way out. As an adult who made mistakes earlier on, he must pay for them somehow. He couldn’t ignore Shannon completely either!

“Chris, have a few more drinks with me,” Brendon continued to drink while Chris remained silent on the side, knowing that Shannon’s situation was difficult to handle.

Shannon was pregnant, and this was a real bombshell.

Late at night, Chris took away Brendon’s glass and advised him, “Stop drinking. Drinking causes trouble. I’ll have the driver take you back! Let’s talk when you’re feeling better.”

Drinking really does cause trouble.

If it weren’t for that accident that day, he wouldn’t have touched Shannon.

Brendon returned to Ranita’s apartment but unexpectedly saw Shannon in a white dress at the door. Her eyes were still red from crying.

“Why are you here?” Brendon reeked of alcohol and didn’t smell good.

Shannon bit her lip and said pitifully, “I… you didn’t come back all night. I was so worried about you that I came out to find you.”

“I knocked on the door here but no one answered.” After pausing for a moment, Shannon complained softly, “I’ve been waiting for over an hour now. Ranita probably doesn’t want to see me.”

The whole situation made Brendon feel uncomfortable even though he couldn’t quite put his finger on why.
