You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 704 Wash Your Hands for Soup

She wasn’t two-faced, showing one side to the public and another behind their backs.

It’s just that she was never good at socializing.

But her status demanded she acknowledge everyone’s greetings.

She let out a sigh, dropping the forced smile.

No need for pretense.

The elevator went straight to the underground parking lot. She unlocked her car with the remote, the headlights flashing as she quickly made her way to where her car was parked, driving out.

At the bookstore, she carefully selected and bought two books on homely cooking recipes.Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.

Back at the office, she sat on the couch and started reading.

Occasionally, she glanced towards the desk.

Elijah was in a video conference with the head office.

His posture was relaxed, reclining lazily.

At times, his expression furrowed, at times relaxed.

Freya remained quiet, not disturbing him.

His coffee cup was empty.

Freya went to brew another cup for him and placed it on the table.

Elijah glanced at her, she smiled, but said nothing, turning to walk back towards the couch.

She took a sip of juice and continued flipping through the recipe book.

Feeling tired, she kicked off her shoes and lay down on the couch.

Elijah lifted the coffee, took a sip, then glanced her way before returning his gaze to the computer screen, becoming serious once again.

Time passed slowly.

Freya started feeling anxious, but Elijah’s meeting didn’t seem to end.

Linda was not around, and Elowen was at home taking care of the kids. She definitely wouldn’t have time to cook dinner.

She approached him quietly, “Should I head home first?”

Elijah understood why she was in a rush and called his secretary.

“Book a restaurant and then come to my house, pick up my two kids and my mother, and take them to the restaurant.”

He would follow after finishing his tasks.

The secretary replied, “Yes.”

Freya reluctantly sat back, waiting.

It was already dark when he finally finished the meeting.

Freya stretched lazily, “Finally done with work?”

Elijah walked over, ruffling her hair, “Were you impatient?”

“I’m fine, I just worry that my mother won’t be able to handle the kids.”

Elijah said, “Finding a good nanny takes time.”

Freya understood, “I’ll manage for now.”

Elijah added, “You’re always on leave, it’s not a long-term solution.”

Freya looked at him, saying nothing.

Leaving the office together, on the way to the restaurant, Freya asked him, “What do you like to eat? I can learn and cook for you.”

Elijah hesitated.

“We share a bed, and you don’t even know what I like to eat?” Freya remarked.

“Do you know what I like to eat?” she turned the question around.

Elijah didn’t know either.

“We’ve been too busy with work, we haven’t had time to pay attention to each other.”

Freya linked her arm with his, “I prefer light, healthy food, I’m not picky.”

It seemed like a common trait among doctors.

Preferring light, healthy meals.

Elijah mentioned, “I’m not picky either.”

“Name a few dishes you really enjoy, I’ll learn and cook them for you.”

After a moment of thought, Elijah listed, “I like stir-fried green beans, sautéed mushrooms with baby greens, squid soup, braised fish, and steamed shrimp.”

Freya laughed.

Because these were the dishes she had cooked the last time.

Simple, home-cooked dishes with no fancy techniques, and light in flavor.

“As long as you make it, I’ll enjoy it.” Elijah expressed.

Freya promised, “I’ll do my best, learn more dishes, so you can come home to a hot meal.”

Elijah turned to her, “Are you willing to set aside the scalpel and wash your hands to cook soup for me?”
