You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 702: Why Did He Marry You

“Madam,” the receptionist looked apologetically at her.

Freya asked, “Is there something wrong?”

She nodded.

“Then come in and tell me…”

The receptionist shook her head.

Sensing her hesitation, Freya asked, “Is there no one around?”

She wasn’t familiar with this place.

The receptionist mentioned that the stairwell was empty.

Freya followed her there.

As the door to the stairwell closed, the receptionist confessed, “I did something wrong.”

Freya replied, “If it’s work-related, you should talk to your supervisor, not me. I won’t meddle in company affairs.”

The receptionist shook her head, “It’s not about work.”

“What is it then?” Freya inquired.

“Just now at the entrance, someone delivered a pennant for you. I took a picture and shared it in the group chat, and people started saying you were showing off. I felt like I made a mistake, so I’ve come to apologize.”

Freya was momentarily speechless, but soon understood.

“What were they saying?” she questioned.

The receptionist waved it off, “It’s nothing.”

Freya insisted, “Are you sure? They must’ve said something else, right?”

The receptionist looked down.

Freya leaned against the wall and said, “I’m new to the company, so people will definitely talk about me. I understand that.”

“You do?” the receptionist was surprised.

“Yes, I’m sure you all discuss what kind of person Elijah’s wife is, how could she marry him, and so on, right?” Freya deduced.

The receptionist remained silent, almost admitting it.

Freya knew.

If her background matched with Elijah’s, or if they had a lavish wedding, there wouldn’t be so much speculation.

“I get it, you can go back to work now.”

“But…” the receptionist hesitated, “I might have caused trouble for you.”

“It’s just idle gossip behind my back; no one would dare say it to my face,” Freya reassured her.

She patted the receptionist’s shoulder, “Go to work. Don’t get too close to me, or others might say you’re trying to please me and be shunned.”

“You’re quite savvy in the workplace; what do you do?” the receptionist inquired.

Freya replied lightly, “I’m a doctor.”

At that moment, the receptionist’s phone rang.

She took it out and checked it.

It was a screenshot from a friend in the group chat.

The message read, “Mrs. Silverton is a doctor. You all don’t know, don’t spread rumors. It’s normal for patients to give doctors pennants. Don’t speculate with inappropriate thoughts.”

The receptionist showed Freya the message, “Now people know you’re a doctor!”

Freya replied, “Maybe they do!”

Her profession wasn’t a secret, after all.

Those in the know would find out.

There was nothing for her to hide.

The company was vast, and most of her colleagues in the group chat were in lower positions, so information was limited.

“Alright, go back to work!” she reminded herself to prepare coffee for Elijah.

“Don’t worry about it,” Freya said.

The receptionist nodded.

Freya brewed the coffee and brought it in.

Elijah glanced at her, “Took so long?”

Freya placed the coffee within his reach, “Chit-chatting outside delayed me.”

Elijah looked up, “What gossip?”Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.

Freya leaned on the table, chin resting on her hands, her eyes sparkling, “Do you want to hear?”

Elijah stared at her, “Whose gossip?”

Freya chuckled, “Yours.”

Elijah laughed.

Freya asked, “What’s so funny?”

“The gossip that I probably married you,” Elijah quipped.

“Because I seduced you?” Freya teased.

Elijah leaned closer, locking eyes with her, “What do you think?”
