Heh, sounds good”

Francis frowned silently, thinking 1 didn’t expect this side of Rebecca

Put nicely, she’s adaptable

Put bluntly, she’s a bit of a suck–up.

But then again, maybe it’s this very trait that’s kept her going all this time.

That evening, Sherilyn and Gilbert stayed over at the Johnson Mansion.

Gilbert was busy with something, so Sherilyn decided to head to bed first. Entering her room, she noticed she had accidentally taken Gilbert’s jacket with her.

He had handed it to her earlier when he felt warm.

Sherilyn got up, intending to return it to his room.

Suddenly, she felt something in the palm of her hand.

What was it?

Reaching into the jacket pocket, she pulled out a small, elegant jewelry box.

What could be inside? A necklace? A bracelet? Something he bought for her?

Earlier today, she had declined to join him, so had he decided to buy her something in

secret?

Opening the box, she found…. a pair of Minnie Mouse hair clips?

Really?

Sherilyn was puzzled. Was this really Gilbert’s taste? Why would he think to buy her these hair clips?

She held one up to the mirror, wondering. “Does it even suit me?”

Her looks were more radiant than sweet, and these cute hair clips….

They didn’t really fit.

She placed the hair clips back in the box, sealed it as it was, and put it back in the jacket pocket.

He had given her many pieces of jewelry, most of which she never wore. This wouldn’t be missed.

In the dead of night.

Sherilyn had fallen asleep when suddenly she felt a heavy weight on her, and then her mouth was covered, her breath stolen.

“Mmm!”

She kicked out reflexively.

“Heh.”

Gilbert chuckled softly, “This move again? What if you break something important? Don’t you care about your own happiness?”

“Gilbert!”

Sherilyn’s sleep was thoroughly disturbed now, and she opened her eyes wide to glare at him, “In the middle of the night, can’t you let people sleep?”

“If we don’t do something, I can’t sleep. Please…”

“Mmm.” Sherilyn protested, “Can’t we just rest for a day?”

Even her desire for children didn’t match his persistence.

“Okay.” Gilbert agreed quickly, yet his kisses didn’t stop, “Tomorrow, we’ll rest tomorrow…”

The next day, Sherilyn finally understood why Gilbert had said what he did.

He was scheduled to travel to Ironforge that afternoon.

Before leaving, Gilbert dropped Sherilyn off at Sunset Ridge Community, right at her doorstep as always.

Before getting out of the car, Sherilyn eyed Gilbert suspiciously.

“What’s up?” Gilbert touched his face. “Something on my face?”

“No, not that.” Sherilyn shook her head, her gaze inadvertently passing over his jacket pocket.

Those somewhat childish Minnie Mouse hair clips, he hadn’t given them to her.

Had he forgotten?

Sherilyn smiled, “I’m off then.”

“Yeah, take care.”

After getting out of the cat, Sherilyn ran into the community. Once Gilbert drove off, she suddenly rushed back out to the street.

She quickly hailed a taxi, “Driver, please follow that Bentley up ahead!”
