Miranda said, “These documents should be helpful for the case.”

“You’re very thoughtful. Thank you,Paul replied.

“That’s the second time.”

“Huh?”

“This is the second time you’ve thanked me since you woke up.”

“Well…” Paul scratched his head, looking surprisingly awkward. “I can’t think of what else to

say…

Miranda said in a serious tone, “You could treat me to something delicious in return.”

“Okay. I’ll treat you to a barbecue. How’s that?”

Miranda was both surprised and delighted. How did he know that she was craving some barbecue? However…

“The doctor said you need to stick to a light diet.

“I can eat grilled vegetables,” Paul suggested.

“Deal!” Miranda agreed enthusiastically.

It was already noon by the time Paul finished his drip. Both of them went to complete the discharge process.

Miranda went to the pharmacy to pick up his medicine, while Paul went to get the doctor’s signature. Unexpectedly, the doctor adjusted his glasses and gave Paul a meaningful look while signing the papers.

Paul asked, “What… What’s the matter?”

“How’s your throat?”

“My throat?”

“Yes, do you feel any hoarseness in your voice or dryness in your throat?”

Paul shook his head. “No.”

“Oh, that’s good. I was worried that your vocal cords would be swollen given how much you were calling out for your girlfriend last night…”

Paul was taken aback. “Doctor, was I calling out loudly last night?”

“It wasn’t loud, but you kept on calling her name without stopping.” The doctor shook his

head.

Paul’s breath hitched in his throat. “What was I calling? What did I say?”

The doctor glanced at him briefly, “Relax, young man. Don’t worry. You didn’t produce any weird sounds or say anything strange. Don’t overthink it.”

Paul felt the tension drain from his body, and his breathing returned to normal.

However, the doctor added, “You just kept calling out her name in all sorts of tones and inflections. Your girlfriend was so embarrassed that her face went as red as a tomato…”

Paul was rendered speechless. He seriously wished that someone could have killed him then and there.

By the time Miranda returned with the medication, she found Paul standing outside the doctor’s office. He seemed to be frozen stiff, like a statue.

“Dr. Jefferson? What’s wrong?” It wasn’t until she called out to him that Paul suddenly snapped out of his daze.

“What did you just say? I’m sorry, I spaced out and didn’t catch it.”

“Did you get the papers signed?” Miranda asked

Paul nodded. “Yes, they are signed.”

“Then let’s go finish the discharge process.”

With that, Miranda reached out to support him, but Paul strode forward on his own. “Let’s hurry and finish this so that we can have some barbecue soon.”

Yes, barbecue!

Miranda was surprised.

For some reason, she felt like Paul was trying to evade her gaze.

After getting discharged from the hospital, they found a barbecue restaurant. Although they ordered grilled vegetables, Paul still took plenty of meat from Miranda’s portion.

“What’s with you?” Miranda laughed in exasperation. novelbin

Paul cleared his throat awkwardly. “Who eats barbecue without any meat? That’s way too sad…

“Dr. Jefferson, I realize that you’re quite a willful person.”

“Yes, then let me be willful for once.”

Miranda was momentarily speechless. The next moment, he placed some meat and vegetables

onto her plate. “Von should eat more, Miranda

The sound of him calling her name made Miranda pase slightly.

Paul asked, “What’s wrong?”

“No… Nothing’s wrong. The meat is really delicious…”
