What Separates Me and You

Chapter 114, Too Impatient

Josephine pretended not to hear her She truly didn’t know anything. She knew nothing else besides how to use a computer at a basic level. She didn’t even know how to use the photocopier before she came here Due to who she was, Conrad could not teach her, and

Sophia did not order anyone to guide her. What else could she have done besides staring at the computer?

As she was thinking about this, Sophia walked in and knocked on Hilary’s desk before calling out to Josephine. She said, “You two, follow me.”

Josephine rose and followed Hilary to the innermost office.

“Miss King, do you have any tasks or specific directives for us?” Hilary asked nervously. She hoped Sophia did not overhear her previous remarks,

Sophia sat down and gave them a smile. “Don’t be concerned. I don’t require anything specific. You’ve been here for a while, Josephine, and as my subordinate, you can’t merely do odd chores. That will be difficult for me to justify.”

Josephine nodded in understanding.

Sophia continued, “So, Hilary, please show her around. Teach her how to utilize the company’s systems, documentation tools, and other resources like PowerPoint. Hilary, you should be familiar with all of these, right?”

Hilary suddenly became upset and thought, “Why do I have to show this mute girl around? Let alone the fact that she knew nothing; she couldn’t even talk. I would rather have an intern!”

“Hilary, do you have any objections? It’s okay. You can speak up. If you are not willing to, I’ll find someone else.”

Hilary forced a smile and said, “Of course not. I’m happy to do whatever you ask. Don’t worry, Miss King. I will teach her well. I’ll delegate all the paperwork to her from now on since she can’t speak. Is that alright?”

Sophia glanced at Josephine and nodded in agreement. “That works. Josephine can’t communicate with the clients, so she can handle the paperwork. Josephine, make sure you learn well from Hilary.”

Josephine nodded. She did not know how to do paperwork, but Sophia insisted on having Hilary teach her. Josephine also did not know if it was because Hilary was capable or if there was another reason for this arrangement.

“Okay, that’s all. You two can go back to work,” Sophia said.

Hilary gave Josephine a dismissive look before turning and leaving the room. Hilary handed her a booklet as soon as they left the room and said, “Read this yourself. It’s the manual for Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.

the company’s systems. Don’t tell me you can’t even read.”

Josephine’s fingers trembled as she took the booklet. She then took a pen and wrote on a piece of paper saying that she understood.

Hilary glanced at the words she wrote and grumbled, “Communicating with you is so difficult.

After speaking, Hilary walked toward the pantry in her heels to slack off.

Josephine lowered her head. Normal people would only take a few seconds to convey their thoughts. In contrast, her sign language and writing would take twice as long. Only a few would be patient enough to wait for her to finish writing.

She lifted the booklet and opened it, reading through the pages patiently.

In the office, Lewis received a text message from Daphne. She asked him about the process of replacing the funds. Lewis simply took a look at the text and did not reply.

Seth knocked and entered his room. He walked toward Lewis and said, “Lewis, I have bad news for you.’

“What is it?”

Seth paused for a while before he continued, “The news of the failed investment can no longer be concealed, and the media is now reporting it extensively. As the stock market opened this morning, our stocks experienced a sharp decline, plummeting as though they had fallen off a cliff.”

Lewis gave him a glance and asked, “Does Dad know?”

“If you have not received a call from him, then I suppose he’s still in the dark. But I suspect he’ll find out soon.”

Lewis’ expression remained the same as he replied, “I understand. You can leave.”

Set paused for a moment and asked, “Lewis, would the method that Daphne suggested really work?”

Actually, Daphne did not say anything. He was just putting Lewis to the test. Even Seth couldn’t figure out what Lewis was up to or what his next move would be. He recognized he could only remain quiet, and any sudden action might lead him right into Lewis’ trap.

Lewis raised the corners of his lips and gave him a smirk. He said, “Seth, you are a smart person. Can’t you tell if her method would be effective or not?”

Seth fell silent.

Lewis said profoundly, “You’re too impatient, Seth.”

He was so impatient that he had exposed himself.

Seth chuckled abruptly and said, “You are right. After all, it was such a huge incident, and I got so anxious that I lost my cool. I’ll head out first.”

Seth left the room after he finished speaking.

Lewis stopped smiling and flipped the documents on his desk. The news of Alvarez Corp’s stock drop spread swiftly, with big headlines contending for coverage.

Josephine also received the news on her phone. She tapped on the headline and saw a graph showing Alvarez Corp’s stock status. In less than half a day, it plunged to rock bottom.

Josephine was shocked. She was unaware of the failed investment and wondered what caused Alvarez Corp to be in such a dire situation.

She received a text message from Lewis before she finished work, asking her to go to the parking lot. She dared not ignore his order. She immediately turned off the computer and took the elevator to the parking lot.

She saw the headlights on and knew that Lewis was already waiting in the car. She quickly opened the door and got into the car. He was on the phone. After Josephine got into the drove away with one hand on the steering wheel and the other holding his phone.

“It’s not time yet. Let it drop for another two days.”

When Josephine heard this, she turned to look at him.

car, he

Lewis did not avoid her nor look back at her. He simply said into the phone, “Wait for it to drop below the 20-day moving average. After that, we can retrieve all the odd lots.”

The person on the other end replied, “Isn’t this too risky? Seth will notice if it drops too much. He might get the upper hand if he notices.”

Lewis said calmly, “Wouldn’t that be better? We will not suffer any losses if he covers the mistake he made with his own money. We have Daphne’s stocks. Even if he bought all the odd. lots, Seth would not be a threat.”

The person on the other end stayed silent for a while before he laughed and said, “This is a great move, President Alvarez.”

“Alright, you take care of this then.”

“Okay.”

Lewis hung up and slid the phone into his pocket. He drove slowly with his head resting on one arm. He noticed something and tilted his head to glance at Josephine. “What are you looking at?”

Josephine withdrew her gaze and silently turned to look out the window. Although she did not understand what he was talking about, she could vaguely determine that he was competing

with Seth.

The sky was gray, as if it was about to rain again. This winter seemed exceptionally long.
