Once Bernard got married, he would get the shares that Albert left for Roman back then and had the most shares in the family. That meant that Bernard would be the family's next patriarch, and Roman would lose all of his chance to be the head of the family.

However, he would still have a chance as long as Bernard wasn't married.

But Hera was Bernard's woman, and Roman figured she would stand by Bernard's side and not hurt Aurora.

Suddenly, Roman realized why Linda had visited Aurora. She was purposely trying to start a conflict by making Aurora suspicious. As long as Bernard didn't get married, Roman would have a shot at being the patriarch.

"Grandaunt, do you want to stop Granduncle Bernard from getting married as well?" he asked softly.

Linda saw through him immediately and had to admit that Aurora was right for adopting someone so smart. However, Roman was still young, and she knew what was on his mind right away. After some practice, Linda would not be able to see through him anymore.

Linda didn't answer him directly. Instead, she said meaningfully, "Oh, Roman. You've been with the Killians for some time now, and you know how your mom doesn't have any children of her own.

"That's why she has been treating you like her own son. In fact, the whole family treats you as one of their

own.

"So, you have the right to inherit the family, too. I'm sure you know that, right?"

Roman nodded.

"However, your mom is pregnant now. If she gives birth to a boy..."

Lina stopped there, and Roman immediately knew what she was implying. Since Aurora's husband was married into the Killian family, her child would take her last name as well. If she had a son, then Roman would have one more competitor, and he would lose his position in the family!

There was no way an adoptive son would be prioritized over a biological son!

"Then, what should I do, Grandaunt Linda?" Roman carefully asked as he tugged Linda's sleeve.

She looked around, and when she didn't see anyone around them, she said, "I know how close you are to Freddy, Roman. That's why I hope you can have a great life with the Killians, too. However, Aury is my niece. So, I have no choice but to be happy for her when she's about to give birth."

Roman understood what she was trying to say. The child Aurora was carrying was the key! As long as the child wasn't born, he figured Aurora would only love him.

Since Hera was a doctor, she would be seen as the enemy for not being able to save the child. That way, Chad wouldn't agree to Bernard and Hera's marriage!

When Linda saw the sly look on Roman's face, she knew the clever child understood what she was trying to imply.

from her pocket and gave it to him.

Roman recognized the pills immediately. They were the drugs that Camille made and looked similar to the pills that Hera made. If he mixed them up together, it would be difficult to differentiate the two. Linda was hoping he could swap Aurora's pills with these and let Hera carry the blame!
