The Woman From Hell

Chapter 2690

That afternoon, I was in line buying lunch and had not yet recovered from Keith betraying Theo.

After I absent-mindedly got lunch, I was about to walk back to the company when I saw Keith at the intersection. He was with Nibel. They were probably working nearby.

Disregarding everything that had happened, I walked up to Keith. He was stunned when he saw me but then greeted me politely, "President Lane."

Ignoring Nibel who was next to him, I looked into Keith's eyes. I wondered if I was hallucinating because his once clear eyes were now cloudy.Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

Images from the surveillance video flashed through my mind as I asked out loud, "Did you leak the distributor's benefits?"

I caught a trace of surprise in Keith's eyes the moment I said that. I already knew the answer, but I wanted to hear it from his own mouth.

Before he could answer, however, Nibel replied on his behalf.

"President Lane, don't you find it inappropriate to just suddenly appear and point fingers at my assistant?"

My mood turned even fouler when I heard his voice. Immediately, I directed my sharp gaze straight at Nibel. "From what I know about Keith, he wouldn't have betrayed Theo unless someone instigated him. What do you think about that, Mr. Nibel?"

Nibel's expression froze when he heard this before he let out a peal of laughter. He shrugged his shoulder. "You're just simply snapping at anyone now, President Lane. Do the people of Hatton slander people without considering the evidence?

"There's also a saying in Hatton which I wonder if you've heard? Don't do something if you don't want people finding out about it." I turned my gaze back to Keith. "I saw the surveillance video on your computer. What else would you use it for apart from leaking it? I'll believe you as long as you can convince me."

I was still holding onto that last glimmer of hope, but Keith's answer was disappointing.

"I'm sorry. I admit I exposed it."

"Why?" Even though I had made my mental preparations, it still felt unbearable.

Keith did not look like someone who would do this sort of thing.

I stared at him, trying to get some kind of indication from his expression. Keith's eyes flickered at my questioning, but he only bowed his head. "I'm sorry."

His apology circled in my head, and I shook my head. "This isn't you, Keith. Tell me. Are you facing some secret troubles? Did Nibel threaten you with something?" "President Lane, you shouldn't slander people."

"I'm asking Keith. I'd like to ask you to keep your mouth shut, Mr. Nibel."

Nibel had ended his partnership with Theo anyway, so there was no need for me to go along with him. Nibel's way of doing things during that time did not leave a good impression on me I was even disgusted.

I continued looking at Keith. I expected him to say something I could accept, but reality was cruel.

"I'm sorry, President Lane. I did it of my own accord. It has nothing to do with anyone else. If you and President Grant would like to pursue me for this, I'll bear the

consequences." Determination flashed through Keith's eyes.

To the side, Nibel also said, "Keith is my assistant now. I'll do my best to protect him. If President Grant would like to take legal action, we'll go along with it."

These two really had the same view and stance.

Perhaps Keith truly was not facing any hidden trouble.

I looked at Keith. "The person you should be apologizing to is Theo, not me. That's because he has believed in you ever since the start."

Leaving that, turned around and

left. I did not look back at them.

Maybe they left as if nothing happened. My hand gripped around the bag of lunch, Keith's expression from just now lingering in my head...
