Chapter 2145
Chapter 2145
Livid, Mateo pulled the trigger without hesitation. However, he moved the gun less than an inch. The bullet passed by Liam's ear and hit an orange behind him.
The fruit immediately blew up, its juices splashing on Liam's face.
"Aaaah!" Amber, terrified, trembled. Her eyes tumed red, and she hurriedly tried to plead with Mateo. "Matt, cool it! Aren't you and Liam friends? You guys drank and chatted together in the past. You were so close to each other. How could you do this to him? Hurry up and put the gun away! If it goes off accidentally, it'll be over!"
However, Mateo ignored her. His eyes were red as he glared at Liam. "Did you see the orange behind you? Let go of her now! If not, I'll blow up your head just like I did to that orange!"
"Is that all you got?" Liam taunted. He refused to let Amber go.
He whispered to Amber, "Watch well. If he shoots me today, promise me not to marry such a man. I can use my life to knock some sense into you."
"No!" Amber shook her head.
Liam's ear had begun bleeding because the bullet had scratched it. Feeling sorry for him, she tried to wipe it.
"I've come to my senses now. I'll think about what you said. Calm down. Don't stand against him, I'll be heartbroken to see either of you get hurt. Stop fighting. Just be his friend from now on. Can you promise me that?"
"Have you come to your senses?" Liam asked Amber seriously.
"Mm." Amber nodded; she stood in front of Liam with her hands spread out and boldly met Mateo's gaze. "Matt, I've thought it through. I was too impulsive when I made up my mind the other day. I won't marry you. Of course... I won't marry Liam, either. I won't marry anyone. I won't forgive anyone who wins today, regardless of the result!"
"You won't marry me?" Mateo's face twisted.
He wanted to put away his fierceness but failed to control his facial muscles. He couldn't show his usual bright and friendly smile, and looked very awkward.
"Cem, stop kidding. Didn't we talk it out? We grew up together, and I've always liked you. You know that. Didn't we come to the same page? We'll manage the fort well and start a family."
Mateo panicked. It was unknown if he was afraid of losing his position as Amber's fiance or the woman he had always been in love with. His fierceness and coldness turned into his usual attentiveness and humility.
"I was wrong. I acted without thinking. I just got so angry and wanted to frighten Liarn. If I wanted to shoot him, I would have done that, but I didn't."
Mateo's hand trembled as he hurriedly put away the gun. At the moment, he was full of smiles.
"Don't be scared or angry. I've put away the gun. Come here... Let's talk it out. Plus, the wedding preparations are almost done. You have to marry me. Be good... Come here now!Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
"Don't do this, Matt. I'm scared... Amber muttered.
She watched how Mateo had suddenly lost control; he was both fierce and gentle. For the first time, she found him a stranger. She was at a loss, filled with contradicting emotions. Subconsciously, she hid behind Liam although the latter didn't pull her.
"Go back. I'll...think about it before I discuss it with you."
"Fine. Think it through." Mateo took a deep breath to control his temper. He pretended to leave, but then said to Liar, 'By the way, they aren't in this orchard. Stop wasting your time to look for them here."
