THE FORGOTTEN LUNA

Chapter 53

LADESSA.

"Anyway, would you like to grab a coffee?" The woman asked him.

My eyes rolled, and I was about to head to the counter to pay for my chips when I remembered Kael had the credit card we could use. So I put everything in my arms and walked out of the shop without looking back at them. "So, where are you heading?" It was the last thing I heard before the door closed.

"So, where are you heading?" I mimicked how she spoke while rolling my eyes again as I walked toward the car.

I wanted to scream. The last time I felt jealous like this was when Desiree was sitting on his lap. And while we were married, it was always Desiree but no one else.

In the one year we were together, Kael never made me feel invisible around other women.

I was almost near the car when it beeped, startling me, only for me to realize it was Kael who opened the door with his key. He surely saw me going out.NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

I sat inside and tried to steady my heavy breathing.

I wanted to think rationally. Maybe since the female knew him, he knew Kael was already divorced, so there was no reason for him to have a ring. Yes, that could be it. But why did he look like he enjoyed talking to him?

Kael had always had the same poker expression around people, even around beautiful women.

It didn't take long before the car door opened, and he came in with a bag of plastic full of chips-almost the same one I had picked up and returned.

Did he see me there beside them?

He dropped it in the back seat and didn't say anything, and neither did I. I kept my silence as we drove away.

Once we crossed the intersection, he pulled the ring from his pocket and placed it back on his finger.

I rolled my eyes discreetly, turning my head to the side, and looked at the view from my window.

"Did you just roll your eyes at me?" He asked.

I glanced at him and noticed that he was checking the rear-view mirror. His shoulders looked tense, but I didn't mind it, as I was still upset. "No. I yawned." I replied.

"I didn't know people could roll their eyes while yawning."

"I requested the ring so we could wear it, not take it off when there's a woman in front of you." There, I finally said it.

""Are you jealous?" He asked.

"I'm annoyed," I told him.

"Do you have your belt on?" He asked, and I saw him looking in the mirror again. He swallowed, and sweat formed on his forehead. "What's going on?" I asked as my hands gripped my seat tightly.

"Belt, Adessa," he said firmly this time.

I buckled up while my heart began to pick up its pace. I didn't like to think of the worst, but Kael's expression scared me.

I looked back, but it was dark, although I saw headlights behind us.

"Don't look back. Just hold on tight and just trust me." He stepped on the accelerator, and the car sped up. He swiveled in between lines before turning abruptly to the right, but he didn't slow down. In fact, more. .

Sped up

"Kael..." I moved my hands, gripped the grab handles, and shut my eyes.

He was driving so fast that even if I couldn't hear anything from the outside, I felt we were being thrown into a pit, and it was making my stomach churn.

"I needed to take my ring off so she wouldn't think I'm still committed to you. She knows me. She belongs to Draco's pack."

"What?" My eyes opened and widened as my heart drummed loudly as if it would come out of my chest. "Oh, Goddess!"

"She's one of Draco's warriors. And I'm sure she's in one of the cars following us right now." I didn't hear the rest of his words as he made another abrupt turn.

The road was so dark, and even if I didn't want to look back, I could see headlights in my side peripherals, and I was sure it was getting closer.

"Fuck!" Kael growled lowly, and I saw him raise his hand, but he didn't continue to slam it on the steering wheel, probably not to scare me more, and just gripped it tightly. He glanced at me one more time, our eyes locking.

"Don't let her take me," I said.

"The hell I would."

"How many cars?" I asked.

"Two."

My lips quivered, and I bit the bottom so hard to stop them, but it was no use. I sent a silent prayer to Selene to let us get away from them.

Terrified was an understatement. If I

had to choose between being taken by the King's Court or Alpha Draco's men, I would choose the first. At least the King's Court will give me a trial Alpha Draco would certainly hand me the punishment right away.

"Fuck! This fucking car is useless!" Kael growled loudly. This time, he didn't stop himself from slamming his palm against the steering wheel.

We were already driving fast, but then they were almost behind us.

"Adessa,"

"Kael..."

"You killed two before. Are you up for killing one or two more?" He asked in a calmer voice as if he was just asking me to pick up apples from the orchard. "Kael..."

"Open the dashboard." He ordered.

With trembling hands, I opened it

slowly, and there inside were two guns. I already had a hint of what he wanted me to do. But for Goddess'

sake, had no idea how to aim perfectly.

"If they came closer, you need to shoot their tires."
