Chapter 1770
Drew said, "I don't want you to get in trouble, so I came to check on you."
"I'll be fine. Don't do this again." Yvonne kept her head down, her ears tingling from the brush of their skin. "If you feel bored, you can find trouble elsewhere. I don't ever want to see you at Pivotage again. I mean, I don't want to see you ever again."
Drew rubbed his tongue along his teeth. "Ha. You're not the boss of me."
Yvonne's breath hitched, and she bit her lip.
She knew he could take a hint.
However, Drew was stubbom.
The Thompsons were the hardest people to deal with
Drew's eyes searched Yvonne's blushing face.
In Pivotage, Yvonne held the allure of a temptress. Yet, in his presence, she could shift between the playful charm of a seductive kitten and the vulnerability of a scared little bunny.
Even though Yvonne resembled Bella, Drew picked up a different vibe from Yvonne each time.
It was no wonder Christopher took her under his wing. No man could resist Yvonne.
Unfortunately for Christopher and Yvonne, Drew would not leave them alone. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
Drew's profession taught him to always keep calm and tuck his personal emotions away.
"James is arrested tonight. The swift arrest is only because of the clues you provided."
Drew pulled himself together and spoke nonchalantly, "I believe Christopher would be suspicious of you now that James is busted. He would try to hurt you. Christopher intended to threaten James with the evidence and get something out of it. His plan is destroyed now. Haha! I bet he's livid."
Yvonne was lost for words.
The air was thick with danger and romance a minute ago, and Drew had to ruin the moment again.
"I mean something to Mr. Iverson. He wouldn't do anything to me unless he had strong evidence of my betrayal."
Yvonne grinned, a stark contrast to her heartbreak. "Even if he does find evidence, he wouldn't hurt me. I am a woman with Ms. Thompson's face. You don't have to worry about me. It was the first and last time I'd helped you. We shouldn't meet again. You won't get anything out of me. Our partnership is over."
It sounded like they were breaking up.
Her words left no room for negotiation.
Drew's heart was torn into two when Yvonne talked about everything being over.
Bella tasked Drew with pulling Yvonne to their side. However, Drew did not want whatever they were having to be over either.
She started the game.
Nevertheless, Drew believed he should get a say when the game was over.
Yvonne felt heavy on her shoulders. Drew put his hands on her shoulder to turn her around, and their eyes met.
Drew put his hands on either side of the sink, trapping her in his embrace. As his face drew closer to hers, she nearly lost herself in the moment. He clutched her chin, and the air was heavy with sultriness.
Their breaths and gazes mingled.
Her eyes glazed over, and so did his.
"If there is a chance for you to escape Christopher's control and walk a path of righteousness, would you leave him?" Drew asked huskily. Yvonne's heart beat out of her chest.
Seconds later, she beamed and hooked her finger on the open collar of his black shirt. "No, because I'm broken, and Christopher is where I belong."
