Chapter 423
Chapter 423
Cordelia spotted Harold in the corner of her eye, pretending not to notice him, her gaze shifting aside.
Harold threw Cordelia a look that screamed, "Where do you think you're going?" Had it not been for his
afternoon visit to Mr. Evans, he would have insisted on joining her for lunch in the cafeteria.
After lunch, Harold, following Mr. Reese's request, took down the paintings and hung them by his
bedside and in front of his study desk.
"Ah, so you're keeping the art to yourself now?" Harold’s roommate, Joseph, teased him.
"Yep. For my eyes only."
After glancing once more at the painting of Cordelia, Harold changed into his casual attire and left. He
was visiting Mr. Evans today, so naturally, he had to dress appropriately. He had never looked so
serious in his life.
Following the address given by Mr. Evans, he arrived at Mr. Evans' grandfather's house. Ronan and
Emerson were chatting on the sofa, probably discussing work-related matters, talking about
investments and such.
Callum was probably napping, as there was no sound of a child in the house.
Upon Harold's arrival, Ronan and Emerson ceased their conversation, perhaps due to the
confidentiality of their topics, and began small talk. "Well, well, you're a handsome lad," Emerson
complimented Harold. "No wonder our old friend here feels like he's been left in the dust."
Ronan shot Emerson a glare.
"How's it going with your crush?" Ronan asked Harold.
"No progress. She reported me last night. The dean just gave me a good scolding."
"Hmm, she's a fiery one. Last night?" Ronan seemed intrigued by these two words. Then, with a smirk,
he asked Harold, "Did you fuck her?"
"Let's not talk about it!" Harold waved his hand dismissively, surprised by Mr. Evans' blunt words.
Moreover, Mr. Evans' smirk and his dismissive attitude suggested that for the CEO, "fucking someone"
was a rather mundane affair.
"Is it such a big deal to date?" Ronan commented. “I guess you must have done something to upset
her.”
Ronan didn’t know that Harold’s crush was a teacher, so he assumed that a student romance couldn’t
have been such a big deal. Therefore, he guessed that Harold might have forced himself on her- the
previous night.
"She's just upset," Harold confirmed.
"Well, that's good," Ronan said.
He enjoyed discussing romantic matters with younger people when he had nothing better to do. It
made him feel less old.
"Alright, we should get going. Callum is sleeping. Take care of him when he wakes up." After these
words, Ronan and Emerson left.
...
Cordelia was dressed neatly today, as she was going to Empower Operations. She had made an
excuse not to attend the last meeting, but she watched the video of it and sent a few comments to
Peter.
Peter informed her that Lumos Enterprises had drafted an agreement and wanted to discuss it with
him. If Cordelia was available today, he wanted her to come to the office and review the agreement,
clause by clause, with the head of legal. This collaboration involved a significant sum, not a small
amount.
Cordelia had to go. She had noticed that Ronan was always sending Emerson to these meetings and
never attending himself, probably because he didn't want to see Cordelia. Since he wouldn't go,
Cordelia had to. After all, she would have to interact with Emerson sooner or later.
At Empower Operations.
Before Emerson's arrival, Cordelia and the legal director had been discussing the details of the contract
with Peter in a small meeting room. So engrossed in the conversation, Cordelia didn't hear the
footsteps from outside.
Just as Cordelia was passionately discussing the contract, Peter stood up. "Mr. Evans, it's an honor to
finally meet you."
Cordelia looked up, and there was Ronan.Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
