Chapter 405
Chapter 405
Ronan promptly dialed the number Janice had given him.
Harold's voice was quite pleasant, deeply resonant, and polite. "Is this Mr. Evans?"
"Yes, it is."
"I feel bad that you're personally delivering this. Where are you? I can come get it."
"Golden Deer Estate. I'll give you my chauffeur’s number, and you can contact him directly. He will be
staying at a hotel tonight. You can find him there."
"Alright, thank you, Mr. Evans." Harold hung up the call.
Staring at the number on his screen, Ronan suddenly murmured, "Out with the old, in with the new."
Emerson, who was in the middle of his steak, looked puzzled at this. "What's with the sudden
sentiment? You're in your prime."
"In my prime?" Ronan shot a glance at Emerson.
"Oh, perhaps that's not the right term, considering you don't have a partner."
"Could you watch your mouth?" Ronan frowned, displeased.
Emerson just chuckled and said no more.
"It looks like we can't make it back to Millstone today. We will stay at Grandpa's place for the night,"
Ronan suggested to Emerson.
"Sounds fine to me."
Once they finished dinner, they took a taxi to Ronan’s grandfather's old house.
The next morning, the driver picked up Ronan and Emerson, ready to head back to Millstone.
"Brother, I think Empower Operations is a good choice. Their investment philosophy aligns with ours.
Their President, Peter, seems like a good guy and is not someone petty who nitpicks over small things.
What do you think?" Emerson inquired.
"You're now a face reader?"
Seeing Ronan's nonchalant reaction, Emerson understood that Ronan had already made up his mind,
so he didn't press more.
"Did the package get delivered to Harold?" Ronan asked the driver.
"Yes, it did."
"How does the lad look?" Emerson quickly chimed in.
Ronan shot Emerson a disbelieving look. "Should I be questioning your sexual preferences?"
"Weren't you the one talking about the younger generation outdoing the older generation yesterday? If
the lad turns out to be attractive, too, you might be in trouble. I am just looking out for you," Emerson
slapped Ronan on the shoulder and continued to question the driver, "How does Harold look? Be
honest, but don't hurt our old friend’s wqpride."
The driver was caught in a bind. He was asked to be honest, yet he couldn't offend Mr. Evans.
Ronan glanced out of the window, understanding from the driver's hesitation that Harold must’ve been
good-looking.
Indeed, the younger generation was outdoing him. But what was there to compare between him and a
young lad in his prime?
After attending a tender meeting at the company, Ronan headed home in the afternoon.
"Janice, I've delivered the package to your son," Ronan, while changing his clothes, spoke to Janice,
who was in the living room.
"Yes, he told me. Thank you, Mr. Evans. I told him to take you out for a meal."
"Oh, I was quite busy yesterday. Perhaps some other time," Ronan replied.
"Daddy, are you home?" Callum ran out of his room to hug Ronan.
"Yes. Did you miss me?"
"I missed you so much, Daddy!" Callum said, planting a kiss on Ronan's cheek. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
It reminded Ronan of someone who would always shyly avoid the question whenever he asked if she
missed him. His child was so much better in comparison.
The next day, Lumos Enterprises held a meeting, formally passing the resolution to partner with
Empower Operations.
It seemed that trips to Birchwood and Empower Operations would be a common occurrence in the
future.
