Chapter 661 A Handsome Baby Boy Is Born
Outside the operating room, many people were waiting. There was Jeffrey, Xavier, Cecelia, Nina, and even Allie, who usually resented Avery.
No matter how much she disliked Avery as her daughter-in-law, the latter was, after all, her son's wife.
Most importantly, Avery was giving birth to her own son's flesh and blood.
A few days ago, Allie, having lost her son, vented all her anger on Avery. Thinking about it now filled her with inexplicable regret.
Of course, her regret wasn't out of fear that something might happen to Avery. After all, the latter's fate had nothing to do with her.
What she regretted was that if she really hurt Avery and caused her to have a miscarriage, it was her own grandson that would be lost.
Meanwhile, Jeffrey was waiting on the chair outside the corridor.
His left hand, leaning on a cane, trembled slightly. His aged right hand twirled a string of crystal-clear prayer beads as he prayed continuously for Jesus to keep his granddaughter-in-law and great- grandchild safe.
Cecelia and Nina held hands tightly as they paced anxiously in the corridor, silently praying for Avery to give birth smoothly.
Sid leaned against the corner of the wall, pounding his fist against it in irritation. Waves of frustration washed over his face, one after another.
If Cayden hadn't lost his life trying to save me, he would be able to accompany Avery while she's giving birth now. This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .
Xavier appeared the most composed. Although his calm demeanor was feigned, he would occasionally steal glances at Cecelia from the corner of his eyes.
Cecelia, now a mother, appeared more voluptuous than before. Despite her usual sophisticated style of dressing, the gentle maternal glow that emerged on her face occasionally captivated him deeply.
Unfortunately, she completely ignored him, as if he was invisible to her.
Xavier knew that Cecelia held deep prejudices against him. He also knew that despite her usual cheerful demeanor, she harbored strong grudges, a fact that left him helpless.
Listening to the painful cries from Avery in the operating room, Allie sneered disdainfully as the resentment she felt for her daughter-in-law intensified. What's with all the drama? It's not like it's her first time giving birth. Why the hell is she wailing?
Just as a gloomy cloud descended outside the operating room, Kendrick arrived in a frantic hurry.
Seeing a crowd of people waiting outside the operating room, he anxiously grabbed his grandfather's arm and asked, “Grandpa, how long has Avery been in the operating room?”
“Kendrick, you're here. Avery has been inside for over an hour now.” Jeffrey was relieved to see Kendrick.
The most outstanding grandson is no longer with us. At least the younger one is still here.
“Darn it! Avery is in danger!” Kendrick exclaimed. With no time to explain to Jeffrey, he rushed directly to the operating room and slammed a kick on the door. “Open the door! Open it now!”
The nurse, who was about to administer the labor-delaying medication to Avery, was startled by the sound of the door being kicked.
The syringe that was originally intended for Avery's vein changed direction abruptly!
The inexplicable behavior of his grandson made Jeffrey so angry that his aged face wrinkled further.
He stood up shakily, forcefully hitting Kendrick's back with his cane. “What are you trying to do, you little rascal? Do you know that Avery's life is hanging by a thread? Are you here to cause trouble?”
Allie wore a stern expression, seizing the opportunity to malign Kendrick. “Dad, I think Kendrick is here just to cause trouble. He might even be instigated by Lily. Both mother and son are truly despicable. You must stand up for Avery!”
Jeffrey struck Kendrick with his cane, this time with even more ferocity.
However, Kendrick grabbed it tightly and explained in a serious and urgent tone. “Grandpa, if you don't let me in, Avery will be in real danger of losing her life along with the baby's! Trust me, she's really in danger right now...”
Jeffrey was skeptical. He knew the risk of losing one's life while giving birth was extremely high.
Even though medical technology had advanced significantly, reducing the risk of death from childbirth complications, there was always the chance of unforeseen incidents.
Meanwhile, Xavier was the most composed of all as he discreetly observed Kendrick's expression.
Seeing that Kendrick didn't seem to be lying, he sensed that something was amiss and immediately began to kick the door violently.
Since Mr. Moore is no longer around, I absolutely cannot let anything happen to Mrs. Moore. Otherwise, the entire company will be thrown into chaos!
The frail operating room door was soon kicked open by the two men's repeated efforts.
The door subsequently burst open, startling the doctors and nurses inside.
Feeling irritated, the attending physician pointed at the two and scolded angrily, “What's the matter with you? Don't you know that you're not allowed in the operating room? What if the germs on your body cause the patient to get infected? Can you bear this responsibility?”
As for the nurse who was planning to administer the labor-delaying drug to Avery for the second time, she didn't have the chance to do so went she saw the operating room door burst open.
She immediately retracted the syringe self-consciously, secretly hiding it in her sleeve. Without any change in her expression, she held the real labor-inducing syringe in her hand, pretending to be as
frightened and fearful as the rest of the medical staff.
Kendrick saw Avery on the surgical bed, covered with a blanket, but she looked incredibly weak with her face as pale as a sheet.
A nurse was preparing to give her an injection.
Kendrick grabbed the nurse's wrist tightly, wishing he could break it. He sternly questioned, “What are you planning to inject into Avery?”
Tears welled up in the nurse's eyes as she replied in an aggrieved tone, “This pregnant woman is experiencing difficult labor. I... I was just following the attending physician's orders and giving her an injection of labor-inducing substance...”
“Can you check if this is a labor-inducing substance?” Kendrick snatched the syringe from the nurse and pushed her aside before showing it to the attending physician.
The attending physician examined it thoroughly. After that, he nodded with conviction before expressing his annoyance. “This is indeed a labor-inducing substance. Sir, I don't know what you're trying to do here. Are you suspecting that our hospital would harm pregnant women? If you don't trust us, then why did you bring her here to give birth?”
“Get my sister-in-law a new set of nurses immediately!” Kendrick's tone was resolute and left no room for negotiation.
He didn't which nurse was working for his mother. Other than the attending physician and the midwife, there were three to four nurses there. To prevent any harm coming to Avery, he had no choice but to
replace all the nurses.
“Sir, what did we do wrong? Why are we being replaced?” asked one of the bewildered nurses.
“It's nothing more than the fact that the care you have shown isn't attentive enough. I'm going to contact the chief physician and have everyone replaced immediately!” Realizing the gravity of the situation, Xavier quickly exited the operating room the moment he finished.
Avery was in a state of semi-consciousness. Her mind drew a blank as the pain she felt was unbearable. She had no idea what was happening in the operating room and all she heard was someone saying that they needed to change the nurses. Why do they need to replace the nurses? What on earth is going on?
After all the nurses were replaced, the surgery continued.
Two hours later, Avery gave birth to a beautiful baby boy.
This child was exceptionally beautiful from birth, unlike other babies with wrinkled skin and droopy appearance which gave them a weathered look.
The baby had smooth and firm skin, but what was truly astonishing was that his little face was a mirror image of Cayden.
