The CEO Gets What He Wants

Chapter 64

Chapter 64

Jeffrey was standing in the courtyard with his walking stick as he eavesdropped on the conversation in the living room.

He saw how unusual his grandson had been acting ever since the latter came home. This unromantic brat has finally gotten himself a girlfriend! I'm so happy!

Rory approached her father, stood on her toes, and stretched her neck to see what Cayden was doing. “So you know how to use WhatsApp now, Daddy?”

The only person in the family who didn't use WhatsApp was her father. She had never seen him using it before.

Cayden sat on the couch and furrowed his eyebrows. He was still staring at the phone attentively and anxiously.

Still, no reply was received from Avery.

It made him wonder if she didn't want to be his woman.

It was then Kendrick descended the stairs. When he heard his brother was using WhatsApp, he approached his brother in shock and glanced at his brother's phone. “Uh, you don't even have a profile picture.”

Cayden closed his chatbox with Avery as his expression darkened. Why isn't she replying?

“Are you talking with a woman right now?” Kendrick plopped himself down on the other side of the

couch and sat like a boss as he rested his legs on the coffee table. His eyes were fixed on his poker- faced brother. “I saw the profile picture of the person you were chatting with. That's a cartoon picture that girls like to use. Why is there such a nasty expression on your face while you were talking to her?”

Jeffrey furrowed his eyebrows when he heard that.

Kendrick provided an analysis based on his experience. “Let me guess... You're taking the initiative to court the girl, but she isn't willing to stay with you. Man, what kind of woman is she? She doesn't even like prestigious bachelors like you? Oh wait, is she playing hard to get? Trying to pressure you to marry her?”

Kendrick knew his brother was always aloof and didn't like women approaching him. It's hard to believe he has suddenly found himself in a world of love. He may be ruthless and excellent on the battlefield of the business industry, but I'm worried he'll perish on the battlefield of love. Hmm, let's see. If a woman is seducing a rich man, her ultimate goal is probably to get married into the family. If she couldn't do that, she'd probably try her best to swindle the man out of a boatload of money. No woman is an exception in this scenario.

Cayden put his phone down, as it still hadn't received another message. He then said, “How shallow.”

“Yeah, it's quite difficult to find a woman who's not shallow nowadays. Look at me, Cayden. I haven't been looking for another woman because I can't stand them. Each one I find is shallower than the last.” Kendrick thought Cayden was changing his mind.

“I was talking about you.” Cayden's eyes were as dark as a black hole.

Kendrick's hand, which was going to light a cigarette, froze. Godd*mn! Which vixen has enchanted my brother so thoroughly that he's dissing me like that after I badmouth her?

“Give it back to me!” Avery was trying to get her phone back from Nina.

Seeing how desperately Avery tried to snatch the phone back, Nina lowered her head and read the message. Her eyes widened as she asked, “What kind of situation is this, Ery? Is this man really so charming that you're already enamored with him after the first time you two met? Look at how hard you're blushing!”

Avery finally saw Cayden's message, which read: From today onward, I'm a man who'll become your husband at any time, as soon as you agree to marry me.

Falling in love was a sweet and enchanting process in a person's life.

When a man made a promise like that, it would be hard to tell if he truly meant what he said. Perhaps he only said that in the heat of the moment.

However, it was Cayden who made the promise, so Avery believed he truly meant it.

She raised her head and stared at Nina.

It was a new romantic relationship for her, and she didn't want to hide it from her best friend, especially when both of them were still living together.

It was only a matter of time before the cat was out of the bag.

Avery stared at Nina and explained anxiously, “This man isn't the man I went on a blind date with. That one failed.”

Nina was surprised. If this one isn't the man she went on a blind date with, then who is this man?

“You just broke up with my brother not too long ago because he cheated on you...” Nina was trying to make sense of the situation. “In just a few days after you broke up, someone started courting you, and you also like him back. Am I right?”

Avery nodded. “Yes.”

“Don't you want to see how things go first? What if he's a scumbag too?”

Avery thought that leaving the situation unexplained would only make things more confusing, so she opted to tell her best friend everything.

Nina was flabbergasted when she heard that.

She stared at Avery for a long while before she managed to digest that explosive news.

Then, she giggled. “I can't believe you have been hiding it from me! Mr. Moore? Our boss? Really?”

Avery curled up on the couch and kept quiet.

“Give me some reaction, Ery! He's the boss! The CEO of Trident Group! You've struck a gold mine! No, wait, that's not right. You didn't just find a gold mine, you've... Ahh! I don't know how to describe it! This is driving me nuts!” Nina was going a little crazy as she stared at Avery with reverence.

“You should reply quickly. I bet he's getting anxious!” She grabbed the phone and shoved it into Avery's hand. “I was wrong. I shouldn't have messed around and taken your phone away.”

When Avery was replying to the message, she couldn't help but think of what Zayne had told her when he proposed to her.

“You have to understand something, Ery. There's no other man who loves you more than I do in this world! No one loves you earlier than I do...” That was what Zayne had said to her when he proposed to her.

You were wrong, Zayne. There is another man who had loved me long before you did. He fell in love with me when I was still an ignorant girl who was clueless about romance and love.

Inside the Moore residence, Cayden was lying on the bed, but he couldn't sleep.

He had been tossing and turning around before he got up. The first time he did so, he went to drink a cup of water. The second time, he went to the restroom. For the third time, he smoked on the balcony.

All three times when he got up, he glanced at his phone, which was sitting on the bedside table. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

He still hadn't received any message.

The fourth time he got up, he stood on the balcony again, upset. He stared into the distance with furrowed eyebrows as he grabbed his cigarette box, pulled out a cigarette, and placed it between his lips. Then, he lit it up and put the lighter back down. Am I being too aggressive?

There was a saying that one must wait for the perfect opportunity to strike to succeed. However, it was easier said than done for him when it came to his relationship with Avery.

His thin lips and mouth were stained with the pleasant smell of the cigarette. As the cigarette continued to burn in between his fingers, he made a decision in his heart under the influence of nicotine. I need to treat her coldly. I can't dote on her too much and spoil her. When she replies, I won't reply to her.

Buzz...

The phone on the table was buzzing.

Cayden turned back and saw a glowing light in the darkness of his room on top of the bedside table.

He rushed back into the room at once, which caused him to accidentally stubbed his toe against the tough wooden frame of the bed. He scowled in pain, though he still grabbed the phone as swiftly as he could.

“I get it.” It was a voice message from Avery, not a text one.

Cayden couldn't control his behavior at all. He told himself to treat her coldly, but he still immediately sent a voice message with his post-cigarette hoarse voice. “How about we go and see the sunrise tomorrow?”

“Sure...” As soon as he heard her gentle voice, his cold expression softened in an instant.

Cayden couldn't sleep because it was the first time he experienced the feeling of being loved by someone he loved.

At three in the morning, he headed out with his car keys in hand.

Yawning, Kendrick had just returned from having fun at the nightclub. When he saw his elder brother, who was in a suit with meticulously combed hair, he reacted as though he had seen a ghost. “Where are you going? Why are you dressing like that in the middle of the night?”

Cayden ignored everything, went into his car, and left.

Kendrick watched the car disappear from the mansion's gate and shook his head. “Tsk, so he really does have a woman he's seeing. I can't believe he's driving a sports car out at three in the morning. Does he really plan to do 'that' in the car?”
