Chapter 1736
Hearing Remington's question, Angelina instinctively tensed up, about to speak, but Alaric cut in first.
"Grandpa, this was all Mom's doing. She framed Hertha."
Alaric then spilled everything to Remington and Beatrice about how three years ago, Angelina offered Hertha two million dollars to leave him, and falsely claimed that it was Hertha who approached her demanding the money.
Remington was so furious he started coughing violently, his fingers trembling as he pointed at Angelina, "You, you... How could you sabotage your own son's happiness? What on earth are you trying to achieve?"
Angelina became anxious, her face a mask of distress as she pleaded with Remington, "Dad, I was only thinking of what's best for Alaric. He's brought home so many women before, and none of those relationships lasted. I didn't believe he could find a good match on his own. And Hertha, with her background, she couldn't possibly offer Alaric anything of substance. Alaric marrying Georgia would be the best match."
Angelina remained stubborn in her conviction.
"You... How can you not see the error of your ways?" Remington was deeply hurt and sighed, "You've spent the better part of your life helping Alaric's dad manage the Falconer Group. Now that the Falconer Group is on the right track, ranking among the top ten internationally, I know you've poured your heart and soul into it and don't want to see it taken over by outsiders. But Alaric's cousin, Jeremiah, he's not an outsider."
"Dad, that's not what I meant. I just wanted Alaric to be more competitive, not to be weakened or led astray by women from outside our circle," Angelina said on the surface, but inside, she was storming.
She knew deep down that Remington had already decided to pass the Falconer Group onto Jeremiah, Alaric's cousin, excluding Alaric completely!
In Remington's heart, Jeremiah was family, but to Angelina, there was only one heir, and that was Alaric!
She had only one son. If Alaric couldn't step up, then all that she and her husband had fought for would be handed over to someone else!
How could she accept that?
"Hertha is not the person you think she is," Alaric still objected to Angelina's badmouthing Hertha, his expression serious.
"Will you shut up!" Angelina scolded Alaric, frustrated with his apparent lack of ambition.
"Enough, he's already thirty years
old. If you keep scolding him like a child, now can he grow up? How can he stand on his own two feet?" Remington angrily told Angelina.
Angelina glared at Alaric, furious but speechless.
"Alaric, you mentioned getting your family register, are you planning to marry Hertha?" Remington then turned to ask Alaric again.
"Yes, Grandpa, Hertha, her parents,

we can get married," Alaric
"Alright, today your grandfather will decide for you. You should choose your own marriage," Remington stated gravely.
Alaric was overjoyed, "Really, thank you, Grandpa!"
"Mhm." Remington nodded, his aged gaze sternly shifting to Angelina, "Give him the family register."
"Dad, why are you letting him make a mess of things?" Angelina panicked, unwilling to hand over the family register.
"Give it to him! If you truly want him to grow, you need to learn to let go!" Remington's authoritative tone brooked no argument.
This was a command from an elder to a younger member of the family.
Although Angelina had held a
powerful position at the Falconer Group, her role too had been granted by Remington. Even though
Remington was now retired, his
word was still law within the
Falconer Group and even more so at home, where he was the family's most formidable figure.
With Remington adopting such a firm stance, Angelina, of course, dared not disobey.
