Chapter 884
Chapter 884
Isaac’s cheeks were flushed with a rosy hue, the result of a one too many glasses of wine. that
evening. “Why are you still up?” he slurred slightly as he stumbled through the door.
“I was waiting for you,” came the soft reply. Brittany supported Isaac as they made their way to the
living room and then into the kitchen. In less than twenty minutes, she whipped up a bowl of hangover
soup. It was a hearty broth filled with bits of bacon, a cracked egg, and some diced tomatoes a home
remedy with a touch of flair.
“Here, have some,” she urged him gently.
Isaac was still on the mend from the injury, and the alcohol wasn’t doing him any favors. But there was
no way to get out of tonight’s dinner party; it was an obligation he couldn’t avoid.
With a single, somewhat clumsy movement, he yanked off his tie, popping a couple of buttons off his
shirt without a care.
“Feed me,” he demanded, leaning back with a lazy grin that replaced his usual sharp composure.
Brittany chuckled, accommodating his request and spoon-fed him the savory soup.
Isaac managed to gulp down most of the bowl before stubbornly refusing any more. Recognizing his
inability to consume more, Brittany didn’t insist.
“I heard from Daniel that Hana was transferred. Did you have something to do with it?” she asked, her
curiosity evident.
Isaac furrowed his brow. “What’s it to me?”
Seems like she was overthinking it.
Helping Isaac to his feet, Brittany struggled under his tall frame, which suddenly felt incredibly heavy.
“Don’t lean on me so much,” she protested.
But Isaac, influenced by the alcohol, was less cooperative than usual. His hand gripped her with
unexpected strength.
The sound of fabric tearing filled the room as Brittany’s shirt was ripped open.
“Isaac…” Brittany gasped, not fully recovered herself, and certainly not in the mood for his drunken
advances.
Isaac captured her lips in a sloppy kiss, lifting her into his arms and staggering into the bedroom,
powered by the booze in his system.
Overwhelmed by the scent of whiskey, Brittany’s face flushed a deeper shade of red as she found
herself unable to break free.
Isaac threw her onto the bed, his body looming over hers, his hot kisses sporadically landing on her
face and neck, murmuring a slurred, “Bri.”
His kisses trailed down.
But they stopped at her abdomen.
Brittany shivered violently.
Isaac’s hand gently covered her stomach, his bloodshot eyes searching hers, “Bri, does it hurt?”
Brittany suddenly realized his intention was not to continue what he’d started, but to show concern for
her.
Tears welled up in her eyes.
Of course, it hurt. The pain was enough to wake her in the middle of the night.
And each time, Isaac would hold her until the pain subsided with the morning light.
Grasping his hand tightly, Brittany choked out, Zakky, it doesn’t hurt right now.”
Tears fell freely from Isaac’s eyes, splashing onto her skin, making her wince with a pain that wasn’t
just physical.
“It’s okay, I’m not in pain anymore.”
Isaac collapsed beside her, his body heavy with grief. “But it hurts me,” he whispered.
That was the child he had been longing for!
Brittany couldn’t hold back her own tears as she clung to his neck, her voice breaking as she
whispered, “I know.”
She knew his pain was as real as hers.
Isaac didn’t speak for a long time.
Brittany softly consoled him, fearing his emotions were too raw. Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
After a while, she kissed his jawline and said, “Goodnight.”
Isaac tossed and turned throughout the night, seemingly caught in a nightmare. Brittany \stayed by his
side, patiently soothing him.
When Isaac was sober, he seldom revealed his true emotions, but after getting drunk, he showed more
genuine emotions.
In the morning, Isaac reverted back to his usual reserved self. They had breakfast together, and he
dropped her off at her studio.
“There’s a gala tonight I want you to come with me he said in his cool, detached manner Brittany
nodded, “Okay”
When Brittany arrived at her office, she hadn’t even started her day when the door burst
“Brittany, we head to talk
It was Hans!
Brittany hadn’t expected this confrontation She signaled her assistant to leave and turned to face Hans
Please go ahead”
“I know I shouldn’t have ment Mir Salter at the bar that night, but was that really reason enough for you
