Chapter 156

Marie stayed in the hospital for three days and couldn’t stand it anymore. In her previous life, she had

never been hospitalized; she would always go home to treat her injuries and continue her training. It

was only in this life that she realized how boring a hospital could be.

Dennis couldn’t persuade her otherwise, so he helped her with the discharge procedures and took her

back to the hotel.

Because of a shoulder injury, Dennis had been personally feeding them for the past few days. If it

weren’t for Marie’s firm protest, Dennis might have even helped them bathe..

Marie insisted on meeting Aubree again because Double Sided was just a novel, and if they wanted to

adapt it into a film, they needed a complete script from a screenwriter. The best candidate for the job

was Aubree.

Aubree inherited her father’s talent for writing and was a well-known

American author in France. With her revisions, the movie was sure to achieve

the most perfect effect.

Dennis, accompanied by Marie, knocked on Aubree’s door. The housekeeper, already familiar with the

two of them, opened the door with a smile and

invited them in.

Aubree was sitting in the garden drinking coffee, and it seemed that most of

the time, she enjoyed her coffee and admired the flowers in the garden, living like a fairy above the

common populace.

Seeing Marie arrive, Aubree was very happy. “Marie, it’s been so long since we

last met.”

Marie laughed and said, “Mdm. Berry, long time no see.”

Seeing Marie and Dennis holding hands, Aubree laughed even more happily, “So you finally talked

about it?”

Marie’s face turned red and she said, “Yes, I’ve learned a lot from your

words.”

Dennis nodded slightly, smiling as he said, “Mdm. Berry, you really helped me

out a lot.”

Aubree asked them to sit down and said with a smile, “I didn’t help you. If you mistreat Marie, I’ll advise

her not to be with you.”

At that moment, Aubree had a mischievous smile, like a 20-year-old little girl.

Dennis tightened his grip on Marie’s hand and said, “Don’t worry, Mdm. Berry, I wouldn’t dare to

mistreat her.”

The housekeeper brought a rose latte and specially made a cup of authentic coffee for Dennis. Dennis

had mentioned before that he wasn’t used to

drinking rose lattes, and Aubree remembered that.

“Did you come here early in the morning just to have coffee with me?” Aubree asked.

Marie laughed and said, “I’d like to invite you to be the screenwriter for the movie Double Sided and

participate in the adaptation process together.”

Aubree put down her coffee mug, waved her hand, and said, “That won’t do, I’ve never changed

anything of my father’s.”

Marie persuaded, “Give it a try, no one knows your father better than Mdm. Berry, she can definitely

make it better.”

Aubree still declined, with a hint of a young little girl playing cute, “I don’t want to, I haven’t been to New

York in decades.”

Marie laughed and said, “Come on, I’ll be your tour guide!”

Dennis chuckled softly and asked, “Are you a tour guide? Do you know the way?” © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

Marie glanced at him and said, “Well, then you be the tour guide!”

Aubree watched their interaction and laughed, saying, “Alright, alright, you two stop flaunting your love

in front of me, okay? I’ll go, isn’t that enough?”

Marie was so happy that she could almost jump for joy. Everyone said that Aubree was very difficult to

get along with, and some people had even visited. her several times, offering a high price, but Aubree

was unwilling to sell the copyrights. Marie had thought that this trip to Bordeaux would be extremely

difficult, but she didn’t expect it to go so smoothly.

Aubree laughed and said, “Don’t get too excited, I have conditions.”

Marie immediately said, “Mdm. Berry, please tell me, no matter what the conditions are, I agree!”

Aubree’s eyes lit up and she said, “Then you, you can consider me as your godmother!”

Marie was stunned, and so was Dennis.

Where have you seen someone becoming a godmother after meeting only three times?

Aubree said with a smile, “What’s the matter? You just agreed to any condition, and now you’re backing

out?”

Marie felt a bit awkward. She didn’t want to go back on her word, but she really didn’t understand what

Aubree was doing.

Marie didn’t know how to explain, “It’s not… it wasn’t… but…”

“Marie, what are you afraid of? Since I consider you my goddaughter, you’re practically half a member

of the Berry family. I’ll protect you, don’t worry,” Aubree said with a smile.

Marie looked at Dennis, and Dennis nodded, signaling that Marie could agree.

In his eyes, Aubree’s action was indeed sudden and quite unexpected, but

Aubree was a very prestigious person in the Bordeaux American community. Putting Marie and

Aubree’s names together had no disadvantage whatsoever.

Marie felt a strong connection with Aubree. Moreover, if it weren’t for Aubree, she wouldn’t have

opened up to Dennis so quickly.

So agreeing to it wouldn’t hurt.

Marie nodded, “Alright, I agree.”

Aubree looked very happy as she poured a cup of coffee for Marie. She placed it in front of her and

said, “Marie, let this coffee take the place of wine. Once you drink this cup of coffee, you’ll have

accepted me as your godmother.”

Marie was very straightforward, picking up the coffee mug and finishing it in one gulp. She laughed

mischievously, just like Aubree, and said, “Godmother.”

Aubree was very happy, saying, “Great! Great!”

After drinking coffee and discussing the adaptation, Marie booked a flight to New York for Aubree, so

they could go back together.

Two days later, Dennis returned to New York with Marie. Marie triumphantly brought back the filming

copyrights for Double Sided and Aubree.

On the plane, Dennis looked at Marie, who was so busy that she fell asleep, and sighed in his heart.

How could he not have known about the numerous doubts surrounding Marie?

She trapped the fully armed blonde woman in the restroom, took her gun, called the police just in time,

and shot the enemy.

Agile, alert, decisive, and calm.

Like a seasoned sniper, patient and accurate.

Yeah, just like the last time at Witton Manor, that disappearing sniper who

vanished without a trace, shot Landon in the head with one bullet. Otherwise, that night, it would have

been Dennis who died.

However, Clayton utilized all the resources and information networks of King Organization to search for

that person, but they found nothing, just like their attempts by all means to find the top assassin, Rose.

It seemed that whenever Dennis discovered something related to Marie’s secret, even if it was just a

connection to clues, he would fall into a vicious.

cycle, never finding the answer.

But what could he do?

This girl had completely captured his heart, living at the very tip of it. Dennis couldn’t bear to let go or

make a move.

He would rather have her stay by his side with her secret for a lifetime than desperately uncover her

Achilles’ heel, causing her to flee in panic.

After a flight of more than ten hours, Marie had slept for a long time. As soon as she got off the plane,

she was eager to find Sasha. Dennis held her back and exhorted repeatedly, telling her to be careful

with her wound and not to bump. or touch it, as it might affect the healing process.

After Marie repeatedly assured him, Dennis finally let her go to work.

Marie brought the book Double Sided to Sasha. Unexpectedly, Sasha had

already read the book and really liked it. Upon learning that they could bring this work to the big screen,

Sasha was very happy.

Upon learning that Aubree personally revised the Double Sided script, Sasha

was pleasantly surprised. Her first movie was on such a large scale. If she didn’t perform well, all of

Marie’s efforts these days would have been in vain.

“It’s okay, just relax and perform at your best,” Marie comforted her.

In the following days, Sasha spent most of her time working with Aubree,

repeatedly adapting the original writing of Double Sided in hopes of fully

showcasing the thoughts and emotions of the original writing on the big

screen.

Marie went to Darwin’s production team, and the production team had already

raised issues with Marie more than once.

Darwin really wasn’t in his element. It was a great movie and a great role, but he just couldn’t pull it off.

Or rather, his performance was nowhere near as impressive as when he played Jaime and Cassius.

Marie arrived at the production team and found not only Darwin there, but

also Sabrina. Upon asking, she learned that Sabrina had performed very well

during the audition and had secured the role of the female lead.

Actually, this movie didn’t have a strict female lead. It’s just that among a group of men, there needed

to be a woman to balance out the strong masculine energy. So, they chose a female actress who had

some emotional entanglements with Darwin’s character, Jansen.

Sabrina secured the role through a normal audition process, relying on her own abilities, and Marie had

no objections.

She found a spot, sat down, and watched Darwin perform in the play.

This scene depicted teammates making a heroic sacrifice to cover for Jansen. However, when faced

with the death of his comrade, Darwin couldn’t express the strong sense of guilt and pain that he

should have felt.

The director yelled “cut” countless times, and finally lost his temper.

“Darwin! What’s the matter with you! Do you even know what ‘comrades’ means?”
