Marie nodded obediently, and Dennis helped her lie down before leaving the
hospital room.
Dennis had just walked out of the hospital when Clayton approached him head-on. Dennis’s face
suddenly turned cold, and as Clayton got closer, Dennis grabbed him by the collar and knocked him to
the ground with a punch.
Two such tall and handsome men were fighting at the hospital entrance, leaving passersby stunned.
Dennis threw just one punch and then stopped. Clayton’s mouth quickly bruised, and as he lay on the
ground, he coughed twice, took a deep breath, and said, “I knew it, I had to take a beating from you.”
He and Dennis were comrade in arms, and he knew Dennis wouldn’t harm him over this matter.
However, he also knew that if he put Marie in danger, Dennis wouldn’t be able to let it go easily.
If Dennis looked on coldly, it was utter disappointment, and the friendship had reached their limit. If
Dennis fought back fiercely, it was a man’s
heartache for his woman, filled with anger and rage.
He doubted Marie and looked down on her, but he shouldn’t have made an
ill-considered action and taken advantage of her. That’s not a man’s principle.
Moreover, the shot Marie fired saved Clayton; otherwise, it would have been Clayton lying in the
hospital bed today.
They deserved that punch for the stupid thing they did themselves.
Dennis reached out his hand and said, “If there’s a next time, it won’t just be a
punch.”
Clayton laughed, pulling at the wound on the corner of his mouth, wincing in pain. He reached out and
grabbed Dennis’s hand. With a strong pull, Dennis helped him up from the ground, then let go and
asked, “What are you doing
here?”

Clayton touched the corner of his mouth and smacked his lips, “That was a
really hard punch, it disfigured me.”
Dennis glanced at him and said, “Cut the crap, what are you here for?”
Clayton scratched his head awkwardly and asked, “Ms. Spence… how is she?”
Dennis punched Clayton again and said, “You still dare to ask?”
Clayton rubbed his shoulder and said, “Fine, do I really have to offer her a humble apology or what?”
Dennis walked forward and said, “It’s alright, just excessive blood loss.”
Clayton breathed a sigh of relief and said, “It’s good that everything is fine.”
Dennis had run quite a distance to buy some oatmeal. On the way back, Clayton hesitated for a long
time before saying, “Dennis, although it was my fault for bringing her here, isn’t Ms. Spence’s
marksmanship a bit too accurate?”
After all, Marie truly did, right in front of Clayton, shoot and kill the man who was aiming at him.
If it weren’t for worrying about Dennis getting hurt, Marie would have directly rushed up and blocked the
bullet. Clayton thought that Marie could have killed another one.
Dennis didn’t stop walking and didn’t look at Clayton, simply saying flatly, “So what?”
“So? Dennis, she’s a little girl raised in seclusion, where did she get such good marksmanship?”
Clayton’s suppressed doubts resurfaced, and he said, “Moreover, the blonde woman who was
originally going to tie her up in the restroom was stunned by her and locked inside with her mouth
covered. She even jumped down from the second floor and called the police.”
Dennis frowned, “Marie called the police?”
“Yeah!” Clayton nodded, “But when the police arrived, we had just caught
Aleron.”
Dennis didn’t speak and continued walking towards the hospital. Clayton, feeling a bit anxious, caught
up with him and said, “Dennis, did you hear me?
I…”
“Clayton…” Dennis stopped, interrupting Clayton, and stared into his eyes as he said, “I’ll say this only
once, and for the last time, Marie is mine. No matter how much you doubt her, don’t even think about
going against her. Even if one day she truly stands against me, it should be me who deals with her, not
you.”
He and Clayton were indeed buddies, and they had gone through fire and water for each other.
However, he believed that if it were Clayton’s woman who was being ambiguous, Dennis would have
done the same, and Clayton would have
been just as angry.
Because they were buddies, they could only get angry, furious, and even fight, but they never thought
of the day when they would become irreconcilable.
Dennis entered the elevator, glanced at Clayton, and asked, “Are you coming
in?”
Clayton hesitated for a moment, then nodded, “They’re here.”
The elevator arrived upstairs, Dennis walked into the ward carrying oatmeal. When Marie saw Dennis
return, she smiled happily. “You’re back.”
Dennis nodded, walked over and put down the oatmeal. He helped Marie sit up, as her shoulder had
been shot and she couldn’t move her arm. Dennis opened the box, took a spoon, and blew on each
spoonful to cool it down before feeding it to her.
Clayton walked in and looked at Dennis’s back. He had known him for so many years, and all he had
seen was his decisive and ruthless side. Today, watching

this man carefully blowing on the piping hot oatmeal, surrounded by steam, he seemed entirely
different from the past.
Clayton sighed inwardly, thinking, Marie was truly the kryptonite destined for
Dennis.
Marie saw Clayton come in and gave him a distant smile. “Mr. Philemon.”
Clayton nodded slightly, “Ms. Spence, how are you feeling?”
Marie shook her head, “It didn’t hit any vital spots, so it’s fine.”
Dennis didn’t even glance at Clayton and said, “Eat oatmeal.”
Marie obediently turned her head and took small bites of the oatmeal Dennis fed her, ignoring Clayton
completely.
Marie wasn’t foolish; she should have understood the situation now that she didn’t figure out last night.
Last night’s situation was clearly not a simple gathering to discuss business over drinks; it was a place
where everyone had a gun and intended to take lives.
But when she asked Clayton about the location, he didn’t hesitate at all and told her the place without
any
reminders.
She didn’t mind taking a bullet for Dennis, let alone facing danger with him. What bothered her was that
Clayton treated her like a fool and deceived her.
If Clayton really had such a big issue with her, he should have just confronted her directly instead of
torturing her like this.
Dennis and Marie took turns feeding each other, and Marie occasionally said, “Don’t give me
vegetables, I want the diced meat.”
“Marie, the doctor told you to eat lighter,” Dennis insisted as he scooped up vegetables with a spoon.
“No, no, I want diced meat,” Marie insisted, acting as if she was the most

injured person there.
Clayton felt that he was really very redundant now…
After finally finishing the meal, Clayton couldn’t stand it any longer and said,
“I have to go now, I’ll come back another day.”
Dennis said slowly, “No need to reschedule, you don’t have to come.”
Clayton was rendered speechless.
Dennis really was the most vengeful and meanest man he had ever met!
