TAMING THE BEAST IN HIM ( His Red Phoenix )

Axion was devastated and broken. His Phoenix was in his arms, lifeless and not talking to him. He felt his soul left, like a huge part of him was no longer with him. His whole world came crumbling down in a spec.

Phoenix was his life, his everything. He is just a mere beast, who hated himself without her. His whole life was boring and flat but she came and made it fun. She made him feel loved despite being a beast.

She protected him with her all and now… she wants to leave him just like that.

No, he can’t take it, he can’t live without her. Who will take care and nurture him now? Who will tame him whenever he turns into a beast? Who will kiss his forehead and assure him that everything will be fine? Whose scent will he take in now, that is soothing enough to calm and relax him? Who will be his addiction now?

” Phoenix, I need you. I love you so much and I’m nothing without you. Please don’t leave me ” His tears were pouring down like floodgates of water. He couldn’t hold them back. The pain in his heart made him weak, he felt like dying.

Glinda, who was also lying unconscious on the ground suddenly let out a loud whine but Axion was too broken to even hear it. The arrows on her chest faded into black ashes and she slowly opened her eyes.

Thank goodness she came prepared. Back before she and Phoenix came to destroy Medusa, she drank a magical portion more like an anti-poison to protect her in case Medusa attacks her with her claws. And now, it has saved her from the poison in the arrows and her wounds gradually healed up.

Hearing the loud sobs, she sprang up, wondering from who and where it was coming from. She was more than petrified when she saw Axion crying and Phoenix in his arms, covered in blood. She let out a gasp and quickly covered her mouth as her eyes clouded in tears.

” Phoenix ” She mumbled and crawled up to Axion before squatting beside him. With her hands trembling greatly, she took Phoenix’s cold hand.

” What happened to her? ” Her tears couldn’t stay back and fell. That was when Axion glanced at her with eyes filled with tears.

” Aunt please help me beg her. Tell her that I’m sorry. Tell her to please give me another chance. I never got to tell her how much I love her and I’m sorry. Please Phoenix, don’t do this to me, I beg you ” Axion cried even more. Glinda couldn’t hold back her tears either and broke down, crying with Axion, who pulled Phoenix to himself in a tight embrace.

Phoenix was like a daughter to Glinda whom she loved so much. She couldn’t believe she was no more.

While they both were still crying, something happened.

Some of Axion’s tears which dripped to Phoenix’s face trailed down and dropped on her necklace. Her necklace let out a tiny gleam of light which made Axion pull out on seeing it.

” Phoenix ” His eyes glimmered in hope as he cupped her cheek and fondled it. But, both his and Glinda’s beam crushed down when the gleam died down all of a sudden.

” No Phoenix, don’t give up on me. I know you can do this, please fight for me ” Axion mumbled, his tears buckling up again.

Then his inner self told him something which he did immediately without thinking twice. He leaned forward and placed a deep kiss on Phoenix’s lips. The kiss held up numerous emotions in it; Hope, love, pain, fear, and anger.

His lips were transfixed on hers like he never wanted to pull out while his tears dripped to her face and on her necklace.

Then something miraculous transpired which made both Axion and Glinda’s eyes widen.

Not only did the necklace on Phoenix’s neck start to glow but also her hair tie. From a tiny glint of light, her necklace and hair tie glowed so brightly that Axion and Glinda had to shut their eyes and look away so they won’t go blind.

The injury on her chest closed up immediately and slowly yet steadily, her eyes flung open, her eyeballs fiery red.

Gradually the glow died down and her eyes went back to normal.

” Axion ” Her voice came out weak and faint but Axion heard her and instantly snap his eyes open, turning to her. Unexplainable happiness, one that words alone can’t describe ran down his soul.

” Phoenix ” He couldn’t find his voice as tears of happiness came rolling down. It felt like a dream come true to him. His Phoenix was alive. She didn’t leave him.

Phoenix smiled faintly and she reached out, wiping off the tears which couldn’t stop rolling down Axion’s face. She was more than happy to finally see him again.

When she closed her eyes earlier, she thought it was finally her time to go. She thought she had fulfilled her mission as his Phoenix and was on her way to the Phoenix world, where she would stay with her mother and other Phoenixes like her.

She was about to enter the gate when a familiar voice called her back. She turned and it was Axion. She saw him crying and begging her not to leave him, that he was nothing without her. She saw the pain in his eyes and heart and that made her realize it wasn’t time for her go yet.

With the help of Axion, she sat up, gazing into his loving tear filled eyes.

” I thought I lost you, Phoenix ” What Axion said made her chuckle weakly.

” Do you think I’d seriously leave now that you’ve finally confessed that you love me? I’ve been dying to hear you say it and that you have… I won’t miss it for anything ”

Axion chuckled happily, pulling her into a bone-crushing hug which she returned. He placed a deep kiss on her neck, taking in her scent. For once, he thought he would never get the chance to do it again… to experience the amazing feeling he always gets whenever he sniffs in her fragrance.

” I love you, Phoenix… so very much ” He muttered, kissing her hair. Phoenix closed her eyes, tightening the hug.

” I love you too, Axion ”

Glinda watched the two with a smirk of fulfillment. She had assured Phoenix that one day, Axion would return her love for him and just as she said, it is happening right before her. Phoenix looked up and seeing her smiling at them, she smiled back.

” Aunt ” She called, breaking the hug.

Glinda closed the distance between them and hugged her.

” Bless you, my dear. Thank you for coming back ” She pulled out and placed a kiss on her forehead.

” I’m happy to see you’re ok aunt, I thought something happened to you ” Phoenix expressed.

” I’m ok, my dear. You should worry more about yourself. You just revived and need to get enough rest to regain your strength ”

” Don’t worry aunt, I’m fine ” Before Phoenix could say anything further, Axion carried her up firmly in bridal style.

” Aunt is right. You need to rest, Phoenix ” He said.

” I’ll take her upstairs,” He said to Glinda who nodded.

” I’ll prepare something for her to eat ” She left for the kitchen while Axion carried Phoenix to their room.
