Chapter 874 You Have To Help Me with this Matter

Following her movements, Kane also glanced back.,He then turned to look at her while still carrying a meaningful smile. “Am I really not allowed to see him?”

“Well,it’s not impossible. But you brought too many people.Do you really want to meet my father or you have something up your sleeve?”Alaia crossed her arms as she remained composed. Too calm that it made Kane a little uneasy. “I’m not doubting you. After all,you are my uncle.It’s just that, what will Dad think if he sees the people you brought?”

Kane thought for a while. He glanced at the stairs before stepping closer to her and whispered, “Tell me the truth,Alaia.Is your father really here?”

“Of course.Everyone knows my father took a few days off. Where else could he be except home?”Alaia sneered,still calm like earlier.

Kane raised one of his eyebrows as he pondered for a while. After a minute,he leaned on the railing and said to the people. “You all go out and wait for me outside.”

After receiving the order,the people retreated one after another. The room fell silent when all of them left.

Seeing the people leave, Alaia was relieved,but she didn’t dare to make her expression obvious. She remained calm as if she didn’t care at all.

One hand to cover her mouth, she whispered to him as if she was afraid of alarming the people. “Uncle Moran,do you still insist on seeing Dad?I want you to understand that Dad is really not feeling well and he has been not in the mood lately. You are seemed to be not in a good mood too right now.Don’t you think it’s much better for you to leave?”

Rubbing his fingers, Kane frowned and hesitated.It didn’t last for a minute when he rolled his eyes after making up his mind. “Even if he will get angry,I still want to see him. He is my brother-in-law, after all.I want to know how he is doing.”

After he said those,he immediately walked passed Alaia and continue going up the stairs. With his fast movement, Alaia was caught off guard and failed in stopping him.

“Uncle Moran,wait!”Alaia exclaimed. She ran after him,but when she caught up with him, he was already at the door.

She held the doorknob while catching her breath.

Seeing her blushing and panting just to stop him,Kane realized something. He took a step back and eyed her. “You’re keeping something, aren’t you? Tell me the truth. Your father is not really here,isn’t he?”

Alaia tried to put up a smile. “Of course not.”

“Stop pretending and tell me what really happened.I could help you so tell me.Is it true that your father has been taken down by the higher-ups?”Kane gestured his hand as he started to feel nervous.

If Ray really was arrested, would he and all their existing projects be affected too?As soon as he thought of this question,he wanted to have an answer quickly.

“You’re just overthinking, Uncle. “Alaia sighed,getting back her calm composure.

Kane somehow agreed. She was right. Maybe he was just thinking too much.

But Alaia yelled,making Kane stop. She bit her lower lip as she made up her mind.”Fine!Since you are so caring about my dad,I will not stop you anymore. But,please,think it through.”

After she spoke,she turned the handle and opened the door. Instead of going in,she made a gesture of invitation.

Seeing her like this,Kane hesitated and remained standing at the door. This could be a trap.

“Why don’t you go in now,Uncle? Isn’t this what you want?”Alaia continued gesturing her hand.

There was a faint smile on her face,which made Kane feel more and more confused..

But he had already arrived here.If he turned around and leave,not only he couldn’t solve the doubts,but it would make him look like a coward.

He clenched his fist before walking in quick.He had to see him. As he reached the inside,he said with at smile, “Ray,I heard that you are sick,so I wanted to know how you are=”

But before he could finish his sentence, Alaia had walked in and closed the door shut which made him jolt. What made him more surprised was the body on the bed, motionless and it didn’t look like it would move anytime soon.

“R-Ray?”He took a step back.Ray was indeed inside the room,however, he didn’t seem to have gotten a sickness that could be washed away after a few days.

“Ray?”He called again,but the person on the bed didn’t respond nor move an inch.

With his mind full of questions, he turned to look at Alaia.”Alaia,your father…”

“I already told you that he’s sick. Now that you have seen him,I didn’t lie to you,did I?”Alaia had calmed down. Now, she needed to think of a way on how she could drive him out of the room as soon as

possible.

But seeing it with his own eyes,Kane just felt troubled instead of feeling resolved.He couldn’t just leave easily.

“What’s wrong with your father?”Kane suppressed the panic in his heart and asked. He walked toward Ray to have a clear look. He sighed in relief after making sure he was still breathing.

However,Ray wasn’t waking up. Even though he was so close to him,Ray didn’t seem to notice his arrival.It looked like this wasn’t just a simple slumber.

“Dad is actually poisoned, “Alaia said with her back against the door panel.”Do you understand my difficulties now,Uncle?”

Blinking Kane was a little confused. “Your father was poisoned? How?What kind of poison did he get?”

“I want to know too. But it’s a pity…”Alaia wanted to say it was a pity that her cousin was already dead,but she refused to continue her words.

“What’s the pity?”Kane asked.

Alaia shook her head and changed the subject., “Uncle Moran,you have to help me with this matter.”

Taking a step forward, Alaia said in a low voice, “You have seen what happened to Dad now,and you know that there are a lot of people looking for Dad.I can hardly handle it. So,you have to help me keep it from them.”

“Why?!”Kane questioned. He was confused. “You said your father was poisoned, so why are you letting him stay. here?Hurry up and send him to the hospital. How did you even know he was poisoned in the

first place?”Kane brushed his hair in frustration.”So these days of not getting in touch with him, he was just lying here unconscious,huh?”
