Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance

Chapter 981

Molly took another bite of her apple and asked, "So, what sparked the fight?"

Nancy replied, "I had to stand up for a friend."

Molly paused for a moment, then asked, "So what does that make the three of us then? Friends? Enemies?"

When trouble hits, it's all about who can bolt the fastest;

When it comes to punishment, it's about who can pin the blame on someone else;

Blame isn't just tossed around-it's thrown with the whole pot;

If you can take two down with you, don't spare the one who's just watching;

It's not about surviving together, but going down together.

And if we don't go down, at least we're dragging you with us...

Mia and Molly exchanged looks, both at a loss for words. Their relationship, it seemed, couldn't really be labeled as "friendship."

"Could it be, family?" Mia wondered.

Molly nodded, munching on her apple, "I think so. Why else would we trick our dad without flinching?"

They both silently agreed it must be a family thing. "Five million isn't much for you, so why the long face?" Jade, also munching on an apple, asked. Mia handed her a "family rule" document.

Jade snapped a picture and shared it in the family group chat.

Leo: ???

Cooper: ???

"Why though?"

"What's the reason?"

Molly: "Maybe my Andre doesn't see you three as people."

Henry, still as naive as ever, waited at the door every day for dad to come home, running out the moment he heard the car.

Everyone felt the truth was too harsh and didn't have the heart to tell him his place in his father's heart.

As exams loomed, Anya became the most anxious.

Even the usually cool Chef Nancy stopped cooking fish and got into Stephanie's mystical studies.

She approached Stephanie, "Hey, Stephanie, can you figure out Chad's lucky color for the exam day? His lucky stone? Star? Number?"

After visiting Stephanie, she secretly checked out temples and churches, taking taxis on the sly.

In short, she was trying to curry favor with deities from both East and West.

On the exam day.

The Cedillo family split into two groups.

Naomi, Bruce, Anya, and Molly showed up bright and early at Leo's exam center to back him up.Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

"Here to join the circus, are we?" Leo jokingly said as he handed the car keys to Anya.

Bruce asked, "You got all your stuff? Let me check."

Leo handed it over, and Bruce walked him to the door, patting his shoulder, "Go on, son."

Meanwhile, on the other side...

"Mom's heading into the exam hall, no more kisses, buddy." Mia's head was hugged by her little boy.

It was supposed to be just one lucky kiss, but he wouldn't let go.

Anyone trying to separate him from his mom was the bad guy.

Cooper had pulled an all-nighter and flown in, working on a paper during the flight. Exhausted, but he promised to see his sister to the exam center. Seeing his dedication, Mia scolded him to catch some sleep. Watching Henry delay his sister, Cooper moved in, teaming up with brother-in-law Andre to pry the little face-kisser away.

Henry cried in frustration, becoming even cuter as he did.

Andre escorted his wife into the exam hall, while Cooper lay down in the van with Henry to catch some sleep.

Henry, still feeling wronged, let his tearful eyes rest on grandma's shoulder.

Andre looked towards the exam area as everyone waited.

Two days passed, and it was finally over.

Leo emerged from the exam hall, and Anya was the first to greet him.

Leo grinned, wrapping an arm around Anya's shoulders, giving her a quick peck on the cheek.

Bruce and Naomi, seeing this, looked away, pretending not to notice the young love.

Mia came out of the exam hall, and her first move was to scoop up her son for a kiss. "If I guessed any questions wrong, I'll give you a smack, okay?"

Henry, happily being kissed by his mom, heard this and his smile slowly faded.

Henry stopped smiling, but the adults laughed heartily, pointing at Henry, "Henry, our little genius, too smart for his own good."

The prep course for the grad exams wrapped up.

The hotel stay was over, and many out-of-towners started packing up to leave.

Jamie watched Denny pack in their room, and couldn't help but feel a pang of reluctance, "Denny, how do you think you did on the exam?"

Denny, folding his clothes, didn't look up, "Not bad."

Jamie asked again, "Is Havenbrook University still your goal?"

"Yeah." Denny put his clothes in the suitcase.

He kept packing his notes and study materials, "Where do you want to go?"

"I definitely can't make it into Havenbrook University. I didn't have a target before, but now I think any school in Havenbrook would do." It meant staying closer to Denny.

Denny packed his stuff, finally

turning to look at Jamie. "The more

remote places are easier to get into.

You're not as quick as Mia, and her family's in Havenbrook, it suits her to apply here. You might want

"an

easier time at a more remote school."

Jamie felt a bittersweet pang in her heart, she spoke slowly, "I know I'm not as gifted, you and Mia are the smart ones, but I still want to come to Havenbrook. We've only been together a few months, but I really enjoyed studying with you and Mia."

Denny sorted his study materials into two piles, finally looking at Jamie. "Are you done packing?" Jamie shook her head.

Denny: "Hurry up and get packed, before we leave, we can grab our books from the classroom and see Mia one last time. Once we go our separate ways, who knows when we'll see each other again.

Jamie's lips trembled, her eyes reddening, "Denny, there's something I want to tell you, I like..."

Denny stood up, cutting her off, "If you're done, head out first, I need to change clothes."

Jamie's words were left hanging as Denny closed the door.

Denny continued packing.

In the afternoon, the teacher gathered everyone for a closing ceremony. Mia was already there.

When both Jamie and Denny showed up, Mia noticed something was off.

She made room, and Jamie sat down.

Mia asked, "What's up?"

Jamie shook her head, not wanting to talk.

The teacher's heartfelt speech ended, and everyone started packing their materials. Some were already planning their next study sessions, while others were on the phone arranging pickups. Jamie pulled Mia into the bathroom, her eyes red, "Mia, Denny doesn't like me."

Mia quickly dabbed at her tears, "Did you confess and get shut down?"

Jamie shook her head, "Denny didn't even let me finish."

Mia bit her lip, her gaze darting around. From what she'd seen, it seemed impossible that Denny had no feelings for Jamie.

"When are you guys leaving?"

"I'm on the 10 AM train tomorrow, Denny's flight is at noon."

Mia snapped her fingers, "Let's head back to the classroom."

Back in the classroom, Denny had already packed his study materials.

Mia tapped the desk, "Denny, free for dinner tonight? The three of us should grab a meal."

Denny glanced at Jamie, her eyes still red-rimmed, "Mia..."

"We've been through a lot these past few months, battle buddies and all. Not to mention the bar fight. We have to have a farewell dinner," Mia insisted.

Denny nodded, "Alright."

As everyone chatted, no one noticed the little carrot-topped kid standing at the door, adorably wobbling with every step.
