Chapter 429

“Kennedy, get straight to the point and stop beating around the bush.” Winston became impatient.

The cold wind swept through the city, enveloping it in darkness. As the freighter floated along the shore, cries of despair echoed among the people who lay on the ground.

Winston witnessed Kennedy leaving and waving at him in silence.

Eli intervened and stopped Winston from running after Kennedy. He warned, “Mr. Greer, don’t be fooled by Kennedy. His words may be deceptive. I’ll arrange for someone to protect Ms. Caldwell.”

Winston frowned as he looked at Kennedy, feeling a mix of emotions. Then, Kennedy turned and gave him a strange smile before gradually disappearing from view.

Eli advised seriously, “Mr. Greer, don’t get distracted by him. Stay focused. We can’t afford to release this batch of cargo.”

“Did you hear what he said?” Winston asked.

Eli nodded to show that he did.

“He has something important to tell me,” Winston said with certainty. It might be related to Millie. Furthermore, he could sense that Kennedy truly had something important to share, not to trick him.

“Mr. Greer, we need to calm down. Our top priority right now is figuring out how to recover our cargo,” Eli urged as he watched the unloaded cargo on the dock. It was their most pressing concern.

Winston paused to gather his thoughts. After a brief moment of silence, he nodded in agreement.

Eli was relieved. Winston promptly started reaching out to people with his help.

Yerwick was hit by a heavy rainstorm during the night. Suddenly, Millie woke up from her nightmare.

She watched the storm outside through the window and clutched her quilt tightly. She felt uneasy as the room lit up, breathing heavily.

Once again, she found herself haunted by the nightmare of trying to save Winston. NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.

She was thrown into the deep sea. She struggled to breathe and felt herself sinking. Despite her desperate desire to live, there was nothing she could do but wait for death’s cold embrace.

She hoped Winston and her were safe and that they could be together. She also hoped that Winston could love her well.

However, after seven years, they were growing apart. The moments they shared during these seven years seemed insignificant.

Millie sighed and picked up the glass of water on the bedside table. She took a sip of water before turning on the light. Even though she was still afraid of the rain, she didn’t seem as scared as she used to be.

When Millie checked her phone, she found no missed calls or messages. As she scrolled through Twitter, a post caught her eye.

“Yerwick is in chaos, and a CEO was being targeted. His cargo was confiscated at the harbor. Can you believe someone actually dared to do that?”

Millie frowned as she recognized the man as a businessman she had met during dinner with Terrence. She couldn’t help but wonder who the CEO mentioned in his tweet was. Several of their mutual friends replied and expressed shock and disbelief.

Millie contemplated, pondering the possibility of it being Winston. However, she quickly dismissed the idea. It simply couldn’t be him. No one would dare to confiscate Greer Group’s cargo.

Afterward, Millie continued to scroll through Twitter.

As the rain intensified, Millie’s drowsiness disappeared. She got out of bed and made her way barefoot to the study.

Then, she turned on the computer and played a PC game to pass the time. While using the computer, Millie noticed a folder with lots of photos and videos.
