After all, the Lowells had not found Louisa yet. Harriet couldn’t bear the thought of losing Joanna too. How could she possibly cope? Was she doomed to live a life of endless sorrow?

“I’m sorry, Mom. I didn’t want this to happen either, but I’m just so miserable.” Joanna shook her head. Tears continued to stream down her cheeks as she spoke.

“I haven’t slept properly in days. Every time I close my eyes, I think about all the unhappy incidents. It feels like everyone wants me dead. They’ve been harming and targeting me ever since my education credentials were exposed. I feel like I’m completely useless now…”

Joanna’s emotional outburst tugged at everyone’s heartstrings. It was hard not to feel sympathy for a beautiful woman in tears.

However, Millie remained indifferent. Was she too heartless?

As Harriet’s tears flowed, Ethan supported her, and they took a step forward.

“Jo, listen to us. Please come down. Your mother and I will agree to anything you want, alright?” Ethan gently reassured Joanna.

Logan, on the other hand, opened his arms and tried to calm her. “Jo, Daniel isn’t back yet. If he returns and hears about what happened to you, he’ll be devastated. Please, come down.”

But Joanna ignored their pleas. Instead, her gaze shifted to Winston.

While everyone was expressing their concerns, why wasn’t he speaking? After all, he meant the most to her. Yet, he simply stood there in silence.

Joanna had reached this breaking point because of Winston. Why did he continue to investigate her?

“Life is truly meaningless.”

Joanna took a step back, and everyone screamed in shock. Winston moved closer, his eyes burning with intensity and his heart pounding with panic.

She had saved his life. If he couldn’t help her, he would be overwhelmed by guilt for the rest of his life.

“Joanna, hear me out.” Winston gulped nervously as he tried to steady her emotions. “You’re not useless. You’re amazing! Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.

“No one is targeting you. Don’t let your mind deceive you. From now on, only do what you truly want, okay?”

Winston’s patience was remarkable. It was something Millie had never experienced from him before.

“Win, you know how much I love you.” Joanna’s voice broke with sobs. “I’ve always wanted to marry you, but I’m afraid I can’t wait until the day you’re ready to marry me.”

Winston felt flustered by her words. Sensing the urgency, Logan quickly chimed in, “Jo, don’t do

anything drastic. Winston will marry you! He’ll definitely marry you, and you’ll get what you want. Right,

Winston?”

Logan then turned to Winston, silently urging him to reassure Joanna. However, at that moment, Winston struggled to find his words.

Noticing his silence, Joanna immediately turned away.

Winston closed his eyes. He knew he had no other options. So, he declared, “I’ll marry you. We’ll have our wedding as soon as possible.”

Joanna looked at him the moment those words escaped his lips. Meanwhile, the people around them exchanged looks.

With the Lowells‘ statements, the others wondered if they were pressuring Winston to marry Joanna or if Joanna was contemplating something drastic. The situation had become increasingly confusing. “Come down,” said Winston. He stepped forward and reached out to catch Joanna.

Joanna looked at him in disbelief and asked, “Are you serious?”

“Yes, I am,” Winston patiently replied.

In the next second, Joanna collapsed into his arms. She cried so hard that she could barely catch her breath, her body trembling with each sob.

In truth, she had been terrified moments ago. Joanna feared that Winston would turn and walk away The fact that he didn’t leave was a clear sign that he still loved her.

Winston lowered his head, his eyes clouded with unreadable emotion. When he looked up again, Millie was no longer there.
