She's out of Your League Now (Millie and Winston)

League 379

League 379

When Millie returned with a glass of water, she found Rachel resting her head on Jake’s shoulder.

Jake croaked, “Millie, I’ll send both of you home.”

Millie frowned at him, but she missed the hickey on Jake’s neck due to the poor lighting in the bar.

“We’re good.” Millie tried to pull Rachel out of Jake’s arms, but Rachel refused to let go, much to Millie’s surprise.

“Rachel!” Millie called to her again and placed the glass of iced water against Rachel’s face.

Rachel’s eyes fluttered open. Sniffling, she answered weakly, “Yeah.”

“I’ll send you home. Now, let go of Jake.” Rachel was giving her a headache.

“No. I want to hug him a while more,” Rachel protested, her head hung low.

Millie looked puzzled. What had just happened during her absence? She shot a look at Jake, hinting at him to come clean.

Rachel was fine when Millie left for water, but why did she suddenly hang onto Jake when Millie returned?

Jake cleared his throat with a look of guilt. He dared not tell Millie he had kissed Rachel, as Millie would dress him down.

“I’ll send both of you home,” he could only repeat his words.

Looking at Rachel’s condition, Millie decided it would be wiser to take his offer. “Okay.” Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!

“Winston, I’m not drinking with you tonight. I’ll send the ladies home,” Jake yelled at Winston, who nodded wordlessly.

Winston lowered his head and touched the wound on his arm with a complicated look in his eyes. He probably tugged on his wound when he pulled Millie away from Seth just now.

“Rachel, get into the car. Stop hugging him!” Millie attempted to peel Rachel off Jake, but Rachel seemed to be defiantly glued to him.

Flabbergasted, she exclaimed, “What is this? Am I supposed to chauffeur you now?”

Jake shot her a knowing look. “We’re sorry for the trouble, Ms. Caldwell.”

Millie’s face soured. Damn it!

Finally, Jake and Rachel settled in the backseat, hugging each other, while Millie drove them back to Rachel’s villa.

Millie prepared a cold bath and made Jake toss Rachel into the cold water. At the same time, Marvin delivered some antidote that Millie fed Rachel.

At the thought of Rachel hugging Jake, Millie could only hope that she wouldn’t go hysterical when she learned about it the next day.

Jake took a sip of water in the living room. Millie joined him and expressed her gratitude. “Thank you, Mr.

Webson.”

“Don’t mention it.” He shook his head. It was at that time she spotted a fresh hickey on his neck.

She tutted, thinking, “What a playboy! I wonder who planted that on his neck.”

Grinning, she said to him, “Mr. Webson, I hope you don’t take Rach’s actions tonight to heart.”

“I won’t,” he replied.

Nodding, she said, “That’s all for today. Mr. Webson, you may leave now.”

“Sure.” Jake wouldn’t overstay his welcome, given that Millie had told him to leave.

“By the way…” He turned around suddenly and called out to Millie, “Ms. Caldwell…

“Go ahead.”

“Actually, Winston is still-”

“Don’t bring him up again,” she cut him off. “Our relationship is all in the past.”

Jake frowned. Since Millie looked like she was over it, he couldn’t comment further on her relationship with Winston. “Fine, then. Take care of Rachel. Call me if you need anything.”

“Goodbye.” She saw him out.

At the door, she hung her head and replayed Jake’s unfinished sentence in her head. “Actually, Winston is still-”

However, she brushed it off and hurried to the second floor to fuss over Rachel.

Sitting in his car, Jake stared at the hickey on his neck through the mirror, a reminder of the scene where Rachel proactively reached out for a kiss.

Although he had a reputation as a playboy, he rarely slept around.
