Millie bent over and said to William with a dangerous edge in her voice, “William, this is just a little warning to you. Show some respect to a lady, or I’ll make sure you meet your maker.”
While speaking, she extracted the hairpin from his stomach. He promptly fell onto his knees with a grimace.
“You-” He pointed at Millie. Overcome by a numbing sensation, he felt as if his body had frozen over. He couldn’t speak or control his movements.
At first, Millie had only planned to teach William a lesson with the silver needle. Since he lost the Aspher, she decided to stab him in the stomach as revenge. What a loser!
She retrieved the hairpin and opened the door to leave. The bodyguard at the door looked surprised at her swift exit. He mused, “Wait, does Mr. Pearson always finish fast?”
Smiling, she traced the chins of the two bodyguards. These Musbanian guys had chiseled features indeed. Even the bodyguards were hot.
Millie left in no time. It wasn’t until the bodyguards noticed their boss lying on the floor that they realized what had happened. They yelled at Millie, “Stay there!”
She turned and blew kisses at the two men. Speaking in Encerian, she boasted, “You can’t catch me. If I were you, I’d save William first.”
After that, she barged into the emergency exit.
One of the bodyguards instructed his colleague, “I’ll check on Mr. Pearson. You go after that woman. Tell our guys that she tried to assassinate him!”
Soon, an alarm blasted through the hotel. Millie tossed out the hairpin into an unassuming trash can. Through the emergency exit, she arrived at the 20th floor, where she took the elevator to the floor below. By the time she arrived, the lobby was crowded with the other bodyguards who received instructions to stop Millie at the lobby.
She stepped out, unbothered.
“Hey, don’t move!” someone screamed in her face. “I need to pat you down.”
”
Turning toward him, she replied in a foreign language, “Sorry. I don’t speak Encerian.”
A few men scanned Millie from head to toe.
“What happened? Do you need me to cooperate with the investigation? My boyfriend is waiting for me. We’re going to dinner,” Millie continued speaking in a foreign language.
A man chimed in, “I don’t think she’s the one.”
She beamed at him.
“Get lost!” the man yelled at her.
Nodding, she quickly left the hotel. At that moment, a stocky
man spoke up in Encerian, “That’s her!”
Millie looked behind her and saw the bodyguard from William’s room. She hastened her pace, but he immediately ran after her.
She dashed out of the hotel. From the entrance, she spotted the black car that was parked nearby.
The driver noticed Millie too. She was about to hurry over, but the bodyguards caught up with her.
She was about to be captured when she saw another car driving in her direction. With its high beams turned on, it blinded everyone on the spot.
It sped toward the crowd as though the brakes were malfunctioning.
Someone cautioned, “Back off! Back off!”
Everyone stumbled backward when the car was about to crash into them. Suddenly, it came to an emergency halt in front of Millie. Its door opened, and she peeked into the car.
She had expected to see Marvin in the car, but she was surprised to find Winston driving instead. RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
He urged her in a stern voice, “Get in!”
She turned and took a look. A bodyguard yelled, “We’re tricked!”
Without thinking, Millie hopped into the car, and Winston sped away from the hotel entrance. She looked behind her. The bodyguards had been shaken off.
She shifted her attention to Winston in the driver’s seat and asked, “Why did you show up?”
