When Millie and Marvin arrived at the venue, they noticed everyone was wearing masks. They were only there for the auction and didn’t care for socializing. Hence, they found a quiet spot to sit and wait for the long half hour to pass.
Suddenly, someone called out, “William!”
Millie swirled her glass of wine and looked out calmly. Everyone was wearing a mask except William. Why isn’t he wearing one?” she wondered.
Then, she witnessed the person in charge handing the mask to William, who promptly put it on.
At that moment, Millie suddenly noticed someone standing beside William. The man was impeccably dressed in a suit, radiating an undeniable elegance.
Although his mask covered half of his face, it was evident that he was attractive. Millie narrowed her eyes, struggling to identify his identity.
The man caught Millie’s gaze and immediately turned toward her. Their eyes locked, and Millie was
stunned for a moment.
The man received a glass of champagne from the waiter while keeping his hand in his pocket. He glanced
at Millie and frowned a little.
Millie felt anxious and couldn’t help but tighten her grip on the glass. He seemed to be Winston. Thus, she quickly averted her gaze.
William called out to Winston, who then redirected his focus.
“Marvin,” Millie called out suddenly.
Marvin asked, “What’s the matter?”
“Lend me your coat,” Millie replied.
Despite not understanding, Marvin obediently gave his coat to Millie.
Millie put his coat on, mainly to cover the butterfly tattoo on her back. If the man was really Winston, she didn’t want him to recognize her.
“Boss, I need to take this call,” Marvin informed.
Millie agreed with a nod, and she watched Marvin leave.
She donned a full–face mask that resembled a little fox accentuating her stunning beauty and figure. Her presence swiftly captivated the attention of other men, with someone approaching to greet her immediately after Marvin’s departure.
The man greeted her in Encerian. She understood but didn’t want to engage with him. Therefore, she politely smiled and said, “I’m sorry, but I’m not from Musbane. I don’t understand what you said.”
Upon hearing Millie’s language, the man paused and said in Encerian, “You’re beautiful.”
“Thank you,” she replied politely.
After having a drink with Millie, the man left. However, shortly after he left, someone else approached her again. Millie felt slightly annoyed. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.
“Hi, I couldn’t help but notice your presence from the moment you arrived. You’re stunning. You’re exactly my type.”
Musbanians were known for being simple and direct. Millie thanked him for his compliment.
“Where are you from?” he suddenly asked in broken Chirean.
Millie looked worried and glanced at William. She appeared to be afraid of something, so she lied. “I’m from Lumina.”
The man responded, “Oh… The residents of Lumina are all very pretty.”
He continued, “Are you here for business or pleasure?”
Millie was surprised. “Your Chirean is quite fluent.”
“I have a friend who speaks Chirean. He often teaches me the language, and I’m really excited to learn it. I’m truly interested in this language.” Despite his disorganized speech, Millie was able to understand him.
Then, he said, “My Chirean name is Kingston Lincoln.”
Millie nodded with a gentle smile. “I’m Milla Webson.”
“Can you remove your mask?” he asked directly.
Millie was taken aback by his request. She declined. “I’m sorry.”
The man’s voice dripped with disappointment as he said, “Alright then.”
He must have recognized Millie as a tough nut to crack, so he left without saying a word. Millie felt a wave of relief wash over her.
Their directness was too much for her to handle. She could only hope that the next half–hour would go by quickly.
Millie noticed that Marvin hadn’t returned yet, so she went to the bathroom. As she walked past the crowd, she caught everyone’s attention in the coat.
