It was already 11:00 pm when Millie finished eating pierogies. Afterward, she received a text from Marvin. “I’ve discovered that Joanna was not the person who kidnapped you. Boss, guess who it could be.”
Millie replied, “Cut the crap.”
She couldn’t believe he was still keeping her in suspense at this moment.
Marvin immediately texted back, “Harriet, Joanna’s mother.”
Upon reading the message, Millie tightened her grip on her phone. She was surprised it was Harriet.
Despite Harriet’s somewhat sharp and arrogant demeanor, she wasn’t a malicious person by nature. It was hard to believe that she would ever try to commit murder.
Marvin texted again, “Boss, Harriet’s having dinner at the Galaxy Restaurant tonight. She’s leaving soon. You…”
After reading his message, Millie immediately understood Marvin’s intention. “Wait for me.”
Harriet was so cruel to hang her on the chair. She had to make Harriet experience this kind of suffering as well.
Harriet and her friends came out of Galaxy Restaurant, leaving one by one. Feeling the effects of the alcohol, Harriet was in a somewhat somber mood. After watching her friends leave, she sighed
and gestured for her driver to drive over.
Harriet opened the car door and was stunned to see Millie inside. She exclaimed, “Millie? Why are you here?”
Harriet peered ahead, searching for her driver in the driver’s seat. But instead, she was greeted by a young man, a complete stranger. At that moment, she knew something was amiss and intended to leave the car.
Yet, Millie instantly grabbed Harriet’s arm and pulled her into the car.
Harriet cried out as the car door slammed shut, and the car began to drive away. She yelled, “Millie! What are you doing?”
“Shouldn’t I be the one asking you that, Mrs. Lowell? What are you doing?” Millie smiled at Harriet, but there was a hint of hostility in her tone.
Harriet stared at Millie, feeling anxious. Could it be possible that Millie knew she was the one responsible
for her abduction?
Just last night, Millie had been taken away and rushed to the hospital in the early morning. And now, in Tess than a day, she seemed to have discovered the truth.
“I didn’t do it.” Harriet tried to dismiss Millie’s suspicion unconsciously.
Millie smiled and asked, “Do you think I’ll believe you?”
Seeing that Millie didn’t believe her, Harriet threatened, “Millie, don’t try to harm me. The Lowell family is not to be taken lightly.”
“When you attempted to harm me, did you ever consider that I’m not someone you can simply bully?”
Millie asked, exuding a sense of danger in her eyes.
Harriet fell silent as she locked eyes with Millie, sensing a noticeable change in her demeanor. She frequently saw Millie during her high school days, primarily due to her close friendship with Joanna.
She used to seem innocent, cute, and obedient. However, after divorcing Winston, Harriet noticed that Millie became more irritable.
“Millie, let’s make amends, alright?” Harriet was already feeling regretful. She had kidnapped Millie just to teach her a lesson, but she didn’t expect this to blow up into a major issue.
“Sure.” Millie agreed decisively.
Harriet paused as her eyes lit up, realizing that Millie was actually quite a nice girl. “So, are you letting me go?”
Millie chuckled. “I won’t force you to do it if you don’t want to.”
Marvin glanced back at the duo.
In less than ten minutes, they arrived at the towering building where Millie had been abducted. Harriet was found hanging on the edge of the building, just like Millie had been when she was taken. Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
The wind howled past Harriet’s ears as she let out a wild scream, her voice quivering. “Millie! Didn’t you say you’d let me go?”
