Winston covered his arm and slowly stood up. As he reached out to help Millie, he spotted a man with a dagger going in for an attack.

With a frown, he instantly pulled Millie toward him, using all his strength to shield her from the attack. The dagger grazed Winston’s shoulder, piercing his shirt.

This time, Millie clearly observed the blood dripping down his shoulder. She then gazed at Winston, her

smile tender and radiant.

She held him firmly, her eyes void of any sign of pain. Her smile was incredibly captivating, radiating such beauty that it seemed as though it could shatter at any moment. It was hard to understand.

The air filled with shouts as everyone rushed forward eagerly.

Millie whispered, her voice so gentle that it seemed to be carried away by the wind. “You owed me a life. Now we’re even.”

After uttering those words, she fainted. Winston didn’t catch the first part of the sentence, only the second part. “Now, we are even.”

He didn’t understand what she meant.

“The ambulance has arrived. Please hurry!”

Millie woke up at 8:00 pm in the hospital. She heard the sound of someone sobbing next to her bed, which compelled her to slowly open her eyes as she sensed the deep sorrow.

“She’s awake. Mills is awake!” The moment she heard the voice, she recognized it as Julia’s. She knew she had caused Julia to worry once again.

She couldn’t help but feel like she had let Julia down. She reached out and gently held her mother’s hand.

Julia cried even harder. “I was so scared!”

Millie gazed at her, her throat dry and unable to utter a word. She felt like she was dreaming when she thought about the past few hours.

The unexpected kidnapping had left her in a state of disbelief. The weight of her identity as “M” filled her with shame. If Marvin ever found out about this, he would undoubtedly mock the situation mercilessly!

Julia helped her up and fed her some water. After a moment, Millie took a deep breath and whispered,”

Mom.”

“Hmm.” Julia nodded.

Julia was the only person in the ward. She explained, “I asked your grandpa and grandma to go home first. Your dad went outside for a cigarette.”

“Dad doesn’t smoke, does he?” Millie asked softly. Because she didn’t like it, Terrence quit smoking. Julia couldn’t hold back her tears as she said this. “We were worried about you so much. Your dad-”

Before she could finish speaking, the door was pushed open, and Terrence entered. He was utterly astonished to find Millie awake.

Millie smiled at Terrence. “Dad.”

Terrence had many questions. However, when he saw that she was safe, he decided not to ask them. “I’m glad that you’re okay. I’ll go and inform the doctor first.

He walked out after saying those words. Terrence felt relieved knowing she was safe.

Julia said in a hushed tone, “Winston saved you. He was injured.”

Millie hummed, feeling very calm. Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

Julia was surprised. “Aren’t you worried about him?”

“Mom, he owed me,” she replied, her tone calm as she continued drinking water.

Julia frowned as she raised her hand to touch Millie’s forehead, wondering if she had a fever, “I understand that you want to keep your distance from Winston, but there’s no need to pretend like this. If

you’re worried, just go and visit him. After all, he…” sa

But before she could finish her words, Millie said, “Mom, you’re overthinking it.”

Julia was even more shocked when she saw how calm Millie was. She continued, “He was stabbed twice when he rescued you.”
