The sky gradually brightened. Millie was exhausted, dozing off. However, the sun’s rays kept breaking through, startling her awake each time. As the sun finally emerged, she glanced back to see Michael, who was already sound asleep.
Millie struggled to untie the rope, but each time she loosened it, the chair would send her falling. The truth was, this was no ordinary knot. Even though she was M, she couldn’t do much,
She refused to resign herself to this situation. Relying on others to come to her aid and putting her life in their hands seemed utterly foolish.
She shifted restlessly in her chair, causing the bell attached to the rope behind it to jingle. The sound roused the several kidnappers from their sleep.
As they rubbed their eyes and let out a collective yawn, a wave of discontent filled the air. Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
“Why are you shaking the chair? What are you doing again?” Michael walked over furiously.
He ripped off the tape from Millie’s mouth, and the pain made her unable to speak. She looked at Michael with red eyes, and her intense stare startled him.
She looked so innocent and tired, and her doe eyes were truly pitiful. It felt like he had done something unforgivable, making his heart tremble suddenly.
“It’s really painful. Could you please find another way to tie me up?” Millie was desperate to save herself.
“Don’t even think about it.” He snorted, turning his head away quickly, afraid of being persuaded. However, he didn’t put the tape back on
In fact, he noticed that Millie appeared uneasy as well. After all, her hands were bound behind her back, and she was seated on a hard chair, suspended in the air. No one would be comfortable in those circumstances.
Michael refreshed himself by splashing cold water on his face, trying to keep himself awake. As he checked the time on his phone, a sigh escaped his lips, “It’s 4:00 am.”
For the first time, Millie sensed that time was crawling. At that very moment, Michael’s phone suddenly rang. She lifted her gaze and noticed him turning his head to answer the call.
She faintly caught him saying, “Well, everything went smoothly. What? Did someone call the police?”
He glanced back and locked eyes with her. He asked anxiously, “Who called the police?”
She was unaware of what had been said on the other end of the phone. Michael lowered his head in shame and murmured, “I’m sorry.”
“We were careless. I’m truly sorry. I should have also abducted the woman too,” he said the last sentence a little louder, and Millie heard it clearly.
“Alright, I’ll do whatever you say,” he exclaimed before ending the call and turning to face her.
Millie frowned, pondering which woman he was referring to. She had been kidnapped following a car accident at the entrance of Vanessa’s neighborhood. Could it possibly be Vanessa?
“Is your friend Vanessa?” Michael asked.
Millie frowned. “You…”
With a sinister smile, he declared, “I should take her… No! I should abduct her son here to keep you
company!”
“Don’t do that!” Millie exclaimed immediately.
It was bad enough that he wanted to kidnap Vanessa, but to think that he actually planned to abduct Vanessa’s son? How could he even do that?
As one would expect from someone involved in such a sinister occupation, he knew just where to strike a person’s vulnerable spot. He was absolutely despicable!
“She called the police!” He was angry.
Millie was stunned and wondered if Vanessa was the one who called the police.
He paused, then pointed at her. “I can choose not to kidnap the child, but I have one condition.”
She nodded instantly. “What’s it?”
“Call Vanessa immediately to let her know you’re safe, assure her that everything is fine, and request her to cancel the police report now.” Michael firmly believed that his method was perfect.
Millie scolded, “Isn’t this an obvious attempt to hide your own guilt? Who would believe such a thing? You fool.”
Michael was embarrassed. “Hey, are you trying to teach me a lesson?”
He approached her and grabbed her collar. “Was I too kind to you?”
