Millie tilted her head and clenched her hands into fists. “You can choose to work for me.”
“You’re just a lady from a prominent family. What can I do for you? Carry your bag? What I aspire to become is a leader. A leader who can issue commands and maintain control, a leader who can kill decisively, do you understand? Why should I work for a woman like you?” Michael stood up angrily. He turned and declared, “In this life, there’s only one person for whom I’ll work faithfully and respectfully.” Millie reluctantly looked up at him. He smiled and said, “Even if I tell you, you may not know the person.” She bit her lip and replied, “Tell me about it.” As “M“, she was well–versed in the secrets of the underworld.
“Have you heard of M?” he asked.
Millie was at a loss for words.
“Do you even have a clue who M is, my dear lady? Oh well, never mind. I won’t talk to you anymore.” He turned away, sounding very disappointed.
“I’ve heard of M,” replied Millie.
Michael snorted. “Then do you know M base?”
“I do,” whispered Millie.
He looked at her and snacked while speaking. “Wow! Great that you know. M is the only one who can make me a follower in this life.”
He crossed his arms, his eyes filled with anticipation. “If M stood in front of me and told me to work for her, I would bow without hesitation and dedicate myself to her cause.”
Ever since he learned about M, he had been eager to work for her. Sadly, M vanished without a trace. three years ago, leaving him no opportunity to meet his idol. The sudden disappearance was truly distressing for him.
“Work for me,” Millie said seriously while looking at him.
Michael sneered. “Do you think you’re M?” Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
“If I say-” Before she could continue, Michael approached and firmly taped her mouth shut.
“Be silent till the following morning.”
Millie was utterly speechless. With a touch of reluctance, she thought, “What an idiot! Do you know you’ve just missed the chance to connect with M? Let me go, fool!”
Michael didn’t even glance at her. Instead, he looked up at the sky and sighed. “I don’t know when I’ll be able to see M again.”
“I heard that M is actually a woman, and let me tell you, my admiration for her has only grown stronger. A fearless woman venturing into the underworld takes a special kind of courage.” He clenched his fists tightly and bumped them together.
Millie was speechless. She stopped struggling and gazed down silently from the tall building. Her only hope was for someone to come and save her before 10:00 am.
She vowed to reveal her true identity to the kidnapper that she was M. She would make him regret.
However, Millie was truly desperate. Would anyone realize she was gone? Her chair trembled, mirroring the tremor in her heart.
The early morning wind grew colder, freezing her legs. Even if she was set free, she might not even have the strength to escape. The sirens drew nearer, yet she remained unsure whether they were searching for her.
“Mr. Greer, Ms. Caldwell has not been found in the South Hemlock area. I’m currently with the police,” Eli sent a message to Winston.
Winston stood by the car, gazing at the massive city. He felt a sense of powerlessness, a feeling he hadn’t experienced before.
The phone screen was dimly lit. With one hand, he shielded the wind and lit a cigarette with the other hand. The surroundings were silent, with only smoke enveloping him.
Eli sent a summary of the locations, with only one abandoned building left to visit. If Millie wasn’t there, where would she have been taken?
