Chapter 741

A series of heavy thuds followed by the sound of shattering glass.

The moment Lizetta Madden stepped out of her car, the Madden family's bodyguard swung a golf club with all his might at the windshield of Remington's car. The windshield splintered into pieces.

Lizetta was startled, but Jerome quickly covered her ears, turned her around, and she didn't see what had happened.

"What's going on?" Lizetta asked, looking up at Jerome.

Jerome let her go, his gaze softening as he offered a reassuring smile. "You okay?"

Lizetta nodded at him, and by then, Remington had already bent down to exit his car.

When the glass had shattered, he was still inside, some of the fragments landing on his shoulders and sleeves.

Now, as the man stepped out of the car, shaking off the shards, his cold gaze fixed on Jerome.

Seeing Jerome protect Lizetta, and her calm and trusting presence within Jerome's embrace, Remington felt a familiar frustration tightening in his chest. "Quite the show of force, Mr. Madden," Remington said coolly.

It was only then Lizetta noticed Remington's Maybach, its front windshield brutally smashed.

She looked up at Jerome in shock, but Jerome simply placed a comforting hand on her shoulder and addressed Remington with a steady voice.

"Can't say it matches Mr. Dashiell's knack for trapping people. I was just too worried about my sister. If my reaction was a bit much, my apologies, Mr. Dashiell." Hearing Jerome's concern and remembering her own depression from being confined by Remington, Lizetta felt a warmth in her heart.

She grabbed Jerome's coat sleeve. "I'm really okay. Let's head back."

Then, turning to Remington, her voice was cool. "Mr. Dashiell, you started this with your disrespect. Don't blame others for reacting."

The frustration in Remington's chest felt like a boulder, making it hard to breathe, leaving him feeling isolated and desolate.

Jerome had smashed his car.

And before he could confront Jerome, Lizetta was already defending another man.

The one at a loss here was clearly him.

The sour sense of injustice filled Remington's chest, leaving him speechless with lips pursed tight.

Jerome patted Lizetta's shoulder. "Of course, Mr. Dashiell, if you require compensation, feel free to contact my assistant. Goodbye."

With that, Jerome escorted Lizetta to his car.

Remington watched, fists clenched, as Jerome carefully helped Lizetta into the car, chatting and laughing with her as they drove away into the night. When the Madden family's car had disappeared, Cedric, who had been waiting quietly to the side, approached with a sigh.

"Boss, I've called Christ to bring

evelinet

another car, but it'll take a while. Why don't you wait inside Mr.

Sterling's mansion? I'll call you when the car arrives."

Seeing the broken glass everywhere, Cedric felt frustrated on behalf of his boss.

What a night it had been.

Busy dealing with Ms. Miller and Ms.

West, confronting adversaries,

searching the city for Lizetta, and

then, without a word, his car got smashed, and Lizetta seemed to think it was justified...

Cedric was almost tempted to advise his boss to move on, considering the difficulty of winning back an ex-wife.

Yet, looking at Remington's silent, forlorn figure, Cedric doubted his advice would matter.

He ventured again, "Boss, maybe

you should tell her about Mrs. Hanna Dashiell and that damn Dr. White. She clearly misunderstands you. she knew the truth about that night, that you weren't just covering for the West family, that you did take action, maybe she wouldn't be so hostile..."
