“You’re such a fool! How could you let her escape for the second time?” Mario thundered.

“I’m sorry sir, before we could get inside the hospital they had left..” Liam apologized and Mario slapped his cheek.

“I’m not paying to do so you can fail, I want Isabelle in my custody this week! Why is Ann still alive?” Mario demanded hotly.

“Sir, tracking her has been very hard and she stays with the president. It’s hard to abduct her..”

“What about those two kids and their father?” Mario demanded, thinking deeply.

“The man is nowhere to be found but I have a gun that those kids are staying with her, she has been extra careful lately, I’m afraid she might be planning something huge..”

“Shut the hell up! What do you mean by something huge? I want you to find out what that plan is and also destroy the plan” Mario instructed and Liam nodded, bowing his head.

“What about Alessandro? Do you have a clue about his family?”

“They disappeared yesterday, I’ve been trying to track his sister but she’s invisible. Sir, Roberto just announced Ann as his new Vice President…” Liam trailed, staring at his phone with disbelief.

“What!” Mario fumed, checking the phone and he held his burning chest, coughing and trying to retain his balance while Liam held him, gently walking towards a chair.

“Sir, the press is outside and they would like to…” His secretary trailed, barging inside.

“I’m not in the mood for anything, Roberto has bitten more than he can chew, I’ll make sure he regrets this, get the car ready, we are going over” Mario instructed and his secretary made calls.

He was escorted by Liam who had a gun at his side, they got to the president’s house and Liam dropped his gun before he was allowed inside.

“What do you want here?” Ann hissed, immediately she caught sight of him.

“He’s busy and wouldn’t like to be disturbed, you can come back tomorrow but know there would be no special treatments, you’ll have to follow the right protocol if you wanna see the incoming President” Ann replied sarcastically and Mario clenched his fist.

“Why are you against me? We we’re all worked towards one thing before..”

“Don’t give me that crap, I know your main plan was to kill Roberto right from time, you tried the first time but didn’t succeed that’s why you became close to him, thinking it’ll be easier” Ann replied, grinning and Mario fumed, his nose flaring with anger.

“Don’t try to be his Cinderella, it’s better you stay out of this or you would have nothing left to call your” Mario threatened.

“Is that a threat? You’ve lost all what belongs to you because you were dumb, I’ll never be like you and mind you if a hair falls off from my kids, I’ll kill a thousand from your side” Ann vowed and Mario walked out angrily.

“He just left the house, kill him now!” Ann muttered into the phone and Annabella walked inside, making her end the call abruptly.

“What’s wrong honey, why are you sad?” Ann demanded, holding her face.

“It’s been a week now and I haven’t seen Isabelle, is she coming back? I miss her so much and I wish she would come back” Annabella confessed and Ann drew her closer.

“Look honey, she isn’t a very nice person, she’s a self centered lady who doesn’t care about others but only herself..”

“No mum, Isabelle is different, she’s the nicest person I’ve ever met, she’s cool, amazing, a great adviser and the best sister. I saw her video and I’m planning on making a video to assist her fundraising, could you please donate money? She’s trying to raise money for the homeless people…” Annabella disclosed, making Ann boil with rage.

“That’s enough already! You’ve been touring the internet too much and I think it’s time you have a break, no phones till further notice..” Ann instructed.

“But mom! Why do you hate Isabelle? She’s human just like us, why?” Annabella demanded furiously.

“Why does she get everything? Why can she be the president’s daughter who is showered with love, money and fame? Why can’t she be like us who works our ass off for everything we want?” Rage was written all over Ann’s face.

“She’s different because all fingers aren’t equal mom. Life has its ups and downs, we get to work for what we want but it doesn’t mean we’re wretched or we can’t get happiness, love and joy” Annabelle replied and walked out.

Alessandro POV

Darrell walked inside, covering his mouth with disbelief and I frowned, do I need to put up a sign that says knock before you enter?.

“Don’t you understand what privacy means? You shouldn’t be barging into a room that’s meant for couples” I scolded, resting on Isabelle’s smooth laps and he burst into laughter.

“I have two types of news, the good and the bad one which would you like to hear? Darrell demanded.

“Just start with anyone” Isabelle replied and he took a chair sluggishly, sat down and cleared his throat several times, tension growing in the air.

“I know you’re curious but this news I’m about to say..”

“Just say it!” I yelled and he rolled his eyes.

“I found out a lot about Liam, he had been working for Mario for almost ten years, Mario had saved him from prison… He’s working for Mario because he has no choice, Mario is one smart man. All his touts have families which they care for and he in turn keeps those families under his watch and if anyone tries to snitch or act smart boom his family is gone then he would join his family too..” Darrell demonstrated and Isabelle gasped.

“He has killed lots of families so Liam is probably scared of going against his boss for fear that his lovely wife might go..”

“He’s married?” Isabelle gasped and Darrell nodded.

“Your father just announced Ann as his Vice President, he’ll surely be busy with the media for now, lucky us… and the bad news is that… Liam is dead” He dropped and Isabelle rose with shock, her mouth open.

“What! How? When?” She demanded with horror.

“Someone tried to kill Mario, so he took the bullet. I have a hunch it’s Ann because it was after they left the president’s house.. So for now, Mario is faced with getting a new Liam to carry out his dirty jobs” Darrell ended with a smile while Isabelle still had a look of horror on her face.

This is shocking, I wonder who the next dead person would be.

“Also, make sure you don’t pick any calls from anyone especially from your family, Ann is seriously trying to get you” Darrell warned and Isabelle nodded.

“Thanks a lot man, I owe you one for this..” I appreciated it.

“Don’t thank me, I’m only doing my job as a patriot” He replied and Brianna barged inside, panicking.

“What’s wrong?” Isabelle sprang up.

“It’s Thomas… he has been abducted and they’re planning to kill him if he doesn’t disclose your location” Brianna replied and we all gasped.

She was crying profusely and Isabelle held her, trying to comfort her. I feel sorry for bringing them into our mess.

“He has vowed never to tell them where you are even if he dies” Brianna sniffed.

“This is confusing, Liam is dead, who else would be trying to get Isabelle? It could either be Ann or…” I trailed.

“Lilian? I can’t think of any other person” Brianna replied.

“Yes! She’s related to Andrea and might be working for him..” Isabelle replied and Darrell smiled, fisting his knuckles.

“Give me a few hours, I’ll get the job done” He replied, smiling as he walked out and Brianna sat down, lost in thoughts as tears rolled down her cheek and Isabelle tried to comfort her.

Night

It was past 9 and there was no news from Darrell. I tried calling his phone but he didn’t pick up. Brianna was crying profusely, refusing to eat or stop crying.

Thomas and Darrell walked inside, panting and slumping tiredly on the chair, Darrell had a smile on his face and Brianna jumped when she saw them.

She yelled, resting on Thomas who groaned tiredly, she kissed his cheeks, touching his face as a big smile spread on her face and she wiped her tears.

“Thank you so much” She said to Darrell who just waved his hand.

“What did you do?” I inquired, staring at Darrell who still had a smile on his face.

“Just a little threatening and she disclosed where he was, I had to get a few guys to rescue him, we ran out of fuel and had to walk for a very long time before we could get a vehicle” He confessed and I shook my head.

Typical superhero Darrell, always quick to action and one of the best guards I’ve come across, I felt proud to have someone like him as a friend, he was one in a million.

“You’re the best man,” I confessed, hugging him.

“What did you use to threaten Lilian?” Isabelle demanded and he shrugged.

“Lilian didn’t just become famous overnight, it was with the help of Andrea, Selena was once a villain, we grew up in the same hood and even with her changed identity and face, I’ll never forget the eyes of those eyes who murdered my friend in cold blood, they both killed my friend, I’ve been gathering evidence for a long time and I had to give up that evidence to get his location”

“Wow, you’ve done so much, thank you so much” Brianna appreciated and he shrugged while Isabelle stared at him strangely.

“I’ll be leaving now, take care of yourselves, avoid the crowd, you can take phone calls now but try not to spend more than 5 minutes” He bade and left.

“He’s a genius, he’s got too much brains,” Isabelle confessed and I laughed, holding her waist.

“So you like him now huh?” I demanded.

“Who cares if he’s got the brain, you’ve got the looks and my heart” She replied and Brianna coughed slightly, making us burst into laughter.
