Chapter 120

Chapter 120 Let’s Get Divorced, Nicholas (1)

Nancy promptly stopped sobbing and looked up while she frantically wiped her tears away when she heard the door slide open.

However, she forgot about the blood on her hands that came from the bloody blade. Thus, her face was now smeared with blood.

The streaks of blood stood out on her face. She looked extremely frightening from afar.

Nicholas was horrified when he saw blood on Nancy’s face. He hastily rushed over and held her face between his hands as he frantically asked, “What happened, Nancy? Why is there so much blood on your face?”

“I’m fine. Nancy coldly shoved him away.

“Look at all the blood you’ve lost. How can you say you’re fine?”

“It’s not my blood.”

Still, Nicholas insisted on bending over and carrying Nancy over to the bed. Then, he carefully wiped the streaks of blood from her face with a warm towel that was soaked with hot water.

He only breathed a sigh of relief when he was certain all of the blood was gone and she wasn’t

hurt.

When he looked down, he realized her feet were bleeding as tiny drops of blood dripped on the floor.

He was so shocked that he swiftly lifted her feet to discover a few shards of glass embedded in the bottom of her feet. His heart clenched in pain at the sight. His brows were deeply furrowed as he

carefully looked at her injuries. “This is serious.”

Then, he continued to raise her feet up with gentle hands.

Drops of blood were still dripping from her feet.

“I don’t need you to do this. Her eyes remained as frosty as ever. There was not an ounce of warmth to be found in them.

“Stay still. Don’t move.”

He then turned to grab the first-aid kit.

Subsequently, he grabbed her feet with one hand while he picked out the glass shards from her feet with the tweezers in his other hand after wearing a pair of sterile gloves.

The larger shards were easier to extract. He only needed to grab them with the tweezers. The tiny pieces that were long and thin were the worst. They were hard to find and were deeply embedded

into Nancy’s fiesh.

The pain was unbearable.

Nonetheless, in Nancy’s opinion, the pain was nothing compared to the pain she felt during the

car crash.

She gritted her teeth and kept her gaze trained on the scene outside the window to forcefully keep herself from hissing in pain.

Alas, the more she forced herself to seem strong, the more distressed Nicholas became.

He looked up and gently gazed at her. “Scream if it hurts. You might feel better.”

She shook her head. “I would definitely be shouting if doing that can actually stop the pain. There’s no point screaming, though. It still hurts. Since shouting won’t reduce the pain, there’s no need to do something so worthless.”

She did not want to waste her time doing something that wouldn’t benefit her any longer.

“This is the last shard. It’s quite deep. Hang on for just a little longer,” he warmly reassured her.

She did not say a word and merely listened.

When the pain shot up her legs, she clenched her hands around the bedsheet as she scowled and bit her lips.

She forced herself to swallow the scream that was about to tumble out of her lips.

By the time the shard was out, her face was covered in sweat. Her top was also soaked with sweat due to the pain.

Once he was certain there were no more glass shards left on her feet, he knelt by her side as he treated and dressed her wounds.

For a moment, the sensation of thick layers of bandages on her feet caused her to space out. Nevertheless, she soon snapped back to her senses. “Thank you!”

She knew when to be grateful and when she should be angry.

Since he had cleaned and dressed her wounds, he deserved her thanks.

From now on, she should continue being polite to him. She knew full well that she could not continue acting the way she had in the past.

After she leaned back on the bed, he sat down by her side to take care of her.

“Are you thirsty? Do you want some water?” he asked.

She shook her head.

“Hungry? Do you have any cravings? I’ll have someone get you something.”

She continued to shake her head without saying a word.

Silence reigned in the room. They could have heard a pin drop.

Just when he thought she was going to remain silent the entire time, she suddenly spoke up.

“Nicholas?”

“Are you hungry?” He felt a surge of adrenaline upon hearing her voice.

She shook her head and calmly said, “I have something I wish to discuss with you.”

“Okay. What is it?”

“Let’s get divorced.”

Those three words were incredibly hard to utter. Those words that had always seemed so impossibly heavy and painful… Yet, Nancy was finally able to say them.

She thought it would have been even more difficult than whatever this was.

However, when she made the declaration, she suddenly realized it was not as hard as she thought it would be.

True. Why did she think it would be challenging? It was a simple sentence that was created by linking three words together.

When she finally said it, she felt like a heavy weight had been lifted off her shoulders.

What she didn’t expect was a dead silence that would fall in the room as soon as she finished speaking.

It was a terrifying silence.

“I said, let’s get divorced, Nicholas,” she resolutely repeated herself while staring at his face.

Finally, he lifted his chin and gazed into her eyes with a pair of black, inquisitive eyes. “I heard you, Nancy.”

“But I won’t agree to this,” his response shattered the last shred of fantasy in her heart. This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.

He disagreed?

What right did he have to do that?

Was this not what he had been waiting for, scheming for since the moment they were married?

This was great, was it not? His dreams had come true. Should he not be cheering in joy?

“I can’t think of any reason you might have to object to a divorce,” she retorted.

“I’ll repeat myself one more time, Nancy. I do not agree to a divorce,” he enunciated each word firmly and slowly. His clear voice echoed in her ears.

“Why?” she queried.

He did not respond.

From then on, Nancy continued to rest and recover in the hospital while Nicholas stayed by her

side.

Although they occupied the same room, they were practically strangers.

Everything he offered was rejected without hesitation by Nancy.

If he poured her a glass of water, she refused to even take a sip out of the glass.

If he ordered food for her, she refused to touch it.

Any fruits he bought would remain untouched.

She even refused to waste another moment speaking to him.

When she was bored and had nothing to do, she would lean back on the back while staring out the window. Occasionally, tears could be seen rolling down her cheeks.

The baby was gone. Her heart seemed to have died with it.

No one else knew just how ecstatic she had been when she found out about the pregnancy. She had felt the baby’s heartbeat and dreamed of the baby’s birth. In her mind, everything was absolutely perfect.

The baby was why she did not despair when Madelline taunted her.

The baby was also why she did not despair when Nicholas refused to love her.

That was because she had her baby’s support. Her baby was her hope and strength. She had been looking forward to her baby’s birth ever since she discovered its existence.

Alas, that support was gone with the wind. All she had been hoping had slipped through her

grasp.

Five days later, Nancy was discharged from the hospital.

While she had been hospitalized for a few days, there was no way she could fully recover from a miscarriage and car crash in just five days.

It was 8.00AM by the time she was discharged. He had specially bought a bouquet of roses before arriving at the hospital to pick her up.
