Salute To The General

Chapter 2694

Chapter 2694

Nathan was watching Nelson, and Nelson was studying Nathan as well.

Nathan was a handsome man with a unique presence.

Nevertheless, Nelson still could not help but think to himself. This man is too young. He's only in his early thirties, but he's already the President. He's only the acting President, but still, he's the one with the most power. The past Presidents were all in their seventies and eighties.

Despite feeling upset, he still had to greet and bow to the acting President. "Greetings, esteemed acting President Cross. It seems like you're having a meeting. I didn't interrupt you, did I?"

Nelson had deliberately added the word "acting," seemingly to remind Nathan that he was just the acting president of the country instead of the actual president.

Zion and the others were immediately irked.

Nevertheless, the small smile continued to stay on Nathan's calm face. "Haha. Greetings, Mr. Freeman. Indeed, we're having a meeting, but we're just civil servants for the people. It's our duty to serve the people, and so, you can't say that you're disrupting us at all."

Upon hearing that, Nelson's expression turned grim.

Zion initially froze, but he soon began smiling.

Nathan's truly a man who would not let others bully him. Just a moment ago, Nelson was pointing out how Nathan was only the acting President, but now, Nathan has subtly commented on how Nelson's a mere civilian.

After forcing himself to regain his composure, Nelson said, "Acting President Cross, and other sirs present, I'm sure you've heard of how I'm planning to join the presidential election, right?"

Nathan only smiled in silence at that.

Unlike Nathan, Zion said to Nelson icily, "Mr. Freeman, you're already in your twilight years. Why don't you rest well at home instead? The times have changed, and so have you. I'd advise you to give up."

Nelson scoffed. "What if I insist on joining the election?"

Zion returned, "I know that you've established a certain level of foundation in the society and can summon a portion of the people to vote for you. However, you have to realize that the Cab has to agree to make you one of the candidates before you can have the proper right to join the election. Otherwise, you won't even get the chance to become one of the candidates!”

Nelson then loudly announced, "This is exactly the reason why I've come today. I have a petition here, and I hope you'll mull over this matter properly after reading it."

Zion stiffened. "A petition? What kind of petition? You can't have found hundreds of influential merchants or socialites and had them sign a petition in hopes that the Cab will make you a candidate, can you? Nelson, you're far too naive!"

Nelson's expression turned solemn. "This is no ordinary petition, and this is not a petition signed by hundreds of socialites. This is a petition signed by presidents from a hundred countries."

A petition signed by representatives from a hundred countries?

Not only were the people in the room stunned by the revelation, but even Zion paled.

He instantly ordered, "Show me the petition."Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

Nelson then took the petition from Tamir's hands and gave it to Zion.

After reading it, Zion frowned. Then, he handed it to Nathan.

Nathan glanced at it before handing it to the others.

Once the others read the document, they, too, paled.

Nelson was delighted to see the colors drained out of their faces. He then took the bird cage from Tamir's hands.

Inside the cage was the national bird of Ariarica, the bald eagle.

As Nelson handed Nathan the bird cage, he gave the latter a half-smile and said, "This bald eagle is from Admiral Max of Ariarica. It's a gift he has asked me to give to you, Nathan. He hopes that you'll think of him when you see the bird and that you won't forget him, your old friend."

Zion and the rest blanched at that.

The bald eagle is the symbol of Ariarica. Max's gifting of the bird to Nathan is a clear reminder from him to Nathan about Ariarica's existence. It's also a reminder that Ariarica is currently keeping a close eye on him as an eagle would and that they would make a move if Nathan does anything drastic.

Zion was boiling with anger. Just as he was about to berate Nelson for alliancing with outside forces and tell him how other nations had no right to intervene in Eurasia's internal affairs, Nathan suddenly smiled.

As he held the cage and observed the eagle inside, he chuckled and said, "Nelson, I've read your petition, and I've received Max's gift from you. Since you're here, I might as well show you something nice.

Initially thinking that Nathan was taken aback by the involvement of a hundred nations; Nelson thought the man would not dare to voice a word in protest.

However, when he heard Nathan's last sentence about how he had something to show him, he stiffened.

Then, he squeezed out in fear, "What is it?"

Nathan smiled. Instead of telling him right away, he turned to speak to Sage, who was behind him. "Is everything ready?"

Sage answered, "Everything's ready,

President Cross."

Hearing that, Nathan rose to his feet and chuckled. "Okay. Nelson and everyone else, please come with me to the outside for an eye-opening experience."
