Chapter 2693
Chapter 2693
The next day was the day for the usual meeting between the President, the military, and the Cab.
The members of the military and the Cab had long arrived at the White House, and they were waiting for Nathan, the acting President, to arrive. Soon, Nathan appeared in the meeting room with a few National Guards in traditional garb.
Nathan usually wore casual clothes. If he was working at the Headquarters of the Chief Military Governor, he would then wear his military clothes. It was only after becoming the acting President did he wear the traditional garb according to the traditions for the monthly meeting.
Anyone who looked at him would have to admit that Nathan seemed even more graceful in that attire.
When the people saw him, they all rose to their feet to greet him.
Nathan gave them a slight nod. "Since we're all here, let's start the meeting."
The people then took their seats according to their identities.
Right as the meeting was about to start, a guard rushed in and uttered, "Sir, Mr. Freeman is here!"
Nathan asked coldly, "Who?"
The guard paled. "Nelson Freeman."
Zion, the Cab secretary, scowled immediately and berated, "Can't you see that the president is about to start the meeting? Nelson's a nobody. Don't interrupt the meeting next time for something as trivial as this. Have him wait outside in the future!"
The guard hastily replied, "Of course, Mr. Lucas. I understand. I'll ask him to wait outside right away."
Truth be told, everyone could see that Nelson had come prepared.
However, Nathan was the one who reinstated Zion's power. Therefore, regardless of everything, Zion would not think much of Nelson. That was why he had immediately insulted Nelson and left him waiting outside.
Before the guard could leave, Nathan said, "Wait."
The guard halted in his tracks, and the others turned to look at Nathan, baffled.
Nathan then continued in a calm tone, "I remember that Nelson is still one of our countrymen. Although he no longer holds any position in the government, he is in the talent pool, right?"
Right as those words were out of his
mouth, the one in charge of
manpower in the Cab and a member of the Great Cab, Armando Falker, quickly stood up and replied, "You're right, President Cross. We do have Nelson Freeman on our list of vital talents. Indeed, he has been in various positions, and although he's no longer in those positions, he has accomplished certain things during his time in those roles. That was why the Cab deemed it inappropriate to remove his name from the list." Content belongs to
The ones who were on the list of vital talents were important figures that the country kept an eye on. Most were reputable across the globe.
Those talented individuals were either undergoing further studies, research, or self-cultivation.
If any of the roles in the government turned vacant, the country would then recruit them to fill the role.
Furthermore, these individuals often took over important and critical roles.
Nelson's name was on that list.
After hearing Armando's
explanation, Nathan nodded and
replied, "According to the rules,
Nelson Freeman does not have the right to join the meeting today. However, since he's one of the

our senior, perhaps he has returned from abroad with suggestions for us. Since he's here, why don't we meet him and hear what he has to say? After all, we can only improve ourselves upon opening up to the suggestions of others."
Hearing that, Zion immediately said, "If that's what President Cross thinks, let Nelson Freeman enter, then. Let's find out what tricks he's about to pull this time."
Instantly, the guard obeyed. "Yes, sir.
I'll lead him in right away."
In the blink of an eye, Nelson, who was in black cotton clothes with a walking cane in his hand, strode with his subordinate, Tamir Waddys.
As he walked in, he even smiled and bowed at the members of the Cab and the military.
As men of virtue, many gave him a slight nod in response at the sight of Nelson's good manners.
However, Zion and the other high-ranking military officials simply continued to look at Zion with cold gazes.
It was because Zion and the rest
were on Nathan's side. They were
well aware of what Nelson was
planning. As such, they did not think much of Zion's courteous acts nor did they nod back in polite response.
On the other hand, Nathan remained seated on his chair as he took in the scene with a small, amused smile on his face.
