Salute To The General

Chapter 2606

Fang replied, "Word out there is that you and Zion are the most likely candidates. Most of our comrades think that you should become the president, Chief Cross. Zion's mindset is too old-fashioned, so you should take up the position instead. I've spoken to Lucas, Zach, Elijah, Will, and the others about this. They say they support you just like I do—"

Nathan cut him off coldly, "Shut up!"

Fang had gotten so carried away with his blabbering that he didn't even notice Nathan's furious expression until he was interrupted.

The look on Nathan's face was so scary that Fang went silent instantly.

“It's very inappropriate for you guys to be thinking of such things when President Woods is still alive and well. Also, this isn't something for you to concern yourselves with either! You guys are soldiers, and soldiers are not allowed to get involved in politics. Your duty is to protect the country and its people, so do not waste your energy worrying about anything else. As a fellow soldier, all I care about is how I can strengthen my troops and better protect my country. Warfare is the only thing I'm good at, so I can't really do anything else. I don't want you guys causing any further trouble.

Is that understood?" Nathan said.

Fang and the others nodded in unison. "Yes, sir!"

"Dismissed!" Nathan ordered. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.

With no other choice, Fang and the others could only leave with their heads held low.

They had come over specifically to inform Nathan that everyone in the military was supporting him in becoming the president.

Unfortunately for them, Nathan only wanted to focus on matters related to the battlefield instead of entering politics.

Having failed at persuading Nathan, Fang and the others were about to return to the North when they ran into Penny and Ava.

"Good day, Mrs. Cross!" the three of them greeted her in unison.

Penny knew that they were Nathan's most trusted subordinates. She especially remembered Destroyer because he had visited their house once.

"What's with the long faces? Did Chief Cross give you guys a scolding?" she asked when she saw their depressed expressions.

Fang let out an awkward chuckle as he replied, "We kind of did a poor job in one of our tasks, so Chief Cross got mad at us."

"It's fine! You guys are his most

reliable soldiers, so I'm sure he isn't really mad at you guys. Things will be fine after his anger subsides! Also, where are you guys going?" Penny said with a smile.

"We don't want to overstay our welcome now that we've made Chief Cross mad, so we're about to head back to the North," Fang replied.

"You three may be Nathan's subordinates in title, but you are still his friends outside of work. We can't have you rushing back so soon without at least having a meal together!"

Penny then turned toward Ava and said, "Have the kitchen prepare the food. Also, bring out the best wine from Chief Cross' collection. We'll all be having a meal together O afterward."

“Got it!” Ava replied and headed off.

Fang and the others knew that Penny was deliberately trying to protect their relationship with Nathan, and they couldn't help but feel that she was worrying too much about it.

Their bond with Nathan was so strong that they wouldn't get mad even if he beat them up and fired them on the spot. Nathan would always remain their mentor and idol no matter what.

Of course, they had no reason to turn down Penny's kind offer either.

"Thank you very much, Mrs. Cross!" they said in unison.

Meanwhile, Nathan ordered Colin and Sage in the study room, “Put the word out that I will not be accepting visitors unless it is work-related.” Colin and Sage both nodded in unison. "Yes, sir!"

Mr. Lucas is strengthening his

influence with each passing day by welcoming all of his visitors. Chief Cross, on the other hand, refuses to see any of them... Looks like he really isn't interested in becoming the next president, after all!
