Chapter 907

Caleb told Simona, “I’m just getting off work now. I’ll head over right away.”

After ending the call, he turned to Skylar. “Skylar, I’m leaving.”

Skylar smiled and nodded. “Go ahead.”

The fact that Simona was beginning to reconnect with friends again meant she was starting to heal from her trauma.

Skylar had planned a getaway with Joe today, a trip to a hot spring

resort.

She spotted Joe’s car waiting at the curb as she left Gardner

Group. He had chosen a different, less noticeable car today. When she got in, Joe was already on the phone.

“I have something on today,” he said, frowning at something the person on the other end had said. After a pause, he responded, ” Alright, I’ll be there in 30 minutes.”

Skylar’s smile faded as it became clear that their plans were about to be canceled today.

Joe ended the call and turned to her. “Rowan had some issues at home, and Mr. Jakeman wants me to go over. You should head home and wait for me. We’ll go to the hot spring resort tomorrow.

“Okay,” Skylar said as she reached for the door handle, “I’ll just grab a cab home.”

Joe stopped her. “No need. We’ll be passing by Jakeman Residence on the way home.”

Skylar settled back into her seat.

Joe updated Skylar about Rowan’s situation during the drive. ” Rowan had a disagreement with his family over breaking off his engagement with Minerva. Mr. Jakeman Senior disagreed, and Rowan caused a scene. It got to the point where Mr. Jakeman Senior had to discipline him.”

“Discipline him?” Skylar was taken aback. She thought such practices were outdated. But apparently, some families still employed them. She wondered what that actually meant.

In the past, it often involved slapping, grounding, or other harsh punishments.

Joe’s expression grew serious. “Yes, they’re expelling Rowan from the family. From now on, he’s no longer related to them.”

“That extreme?” Skylar’s expression changed as the gravity of the situation hit her. This wasn’t just punishment; this was complete severance. Rowan likely hadn’t anticipated such severe

consequences.

They soon arrived at Jakeman Residence. Joe got out of the car, and Lucas drove Skylar back to Galaxy Villa.

About an hour later, Skylar received a call from Joe.

“I’ll probably be very late tonight. Don’t wait up for me, and get some rest,” Joe said.

“Okay, I understand,” Skylar replied.

Joe hadn’t gone into detail, but she could tell the situation was complex. Clearly, Rowan had strong feelings for Jenny.

It was the middle of the night, and Skylar was half–asleep when a phone notification startled her awake.

She picked up her phone to find a WhatsApp message. Glancing at the clock, she saw it was already 12:30 am This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.

It was a message from Vera. There was no text, just a photo.

The photo showed a group of people gathered around a birthday cake, with Vera standing front and center, beaming.

Suddenly, Skylar noticed Joe in the photo. Surrounded by

unfamiliar men, his strikingly handsome face stood out even in the still image

Skylar knew why Vera had sent the photo. Her gaze lingered on Joe, noting the way he looked at Vera. Even in the dim light, Skylar could sense the emotions in his eyes.
