Richest Mogul

Chapter 812

Chapter 812

Caleb said, “It’s only been a few days. Are the Ruells having trouble that quickly?”

Caleb was dumbfounded. Usually, when a family had a negative item in their home, misfortunes didn’t happen this quickly. More often, a series of unfortunate events would unfold over several months or even a year.

Compared to Caleb’s shock, Skylar remained calm. “It’s not too fast. The Ruells will face more troubles.” This was just the beginning.

Caleb’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Seriously? There’s going to be more trouble? I should give them a heads–up. I went to middle school with Hector Ruell. Maybe my warning will help.”

Skylar didn’t respond.

Caleb wasn’t acting out of altruism. He found the negative items too frightening. They harmed people invisibly and could cause others even more suffering, so he felt uneasy about not doing something to help.

After searching through the school group chat for a while, Caleb finally found Hector’s contact information on WhatsApp. Hector was Vera’s cousin.

He messaged Hector on WhatsApp, but the message wasn’t immediately marked as read. It took over an hour for Hector to see it, by which time Caleb was already home.

“Hector, I’ll get straight to the point. Has your family been experiencing a lot of problems lately? I need to tell you that Vera bought two antiques at an auction.

“These antiques are negative items and could bring more misfortune, even endangering lives. You should, have your elders visit my grandpa for advice as soon as possible.”

Caleb had sent a voice message without further elaboration.

A few minutes later, Hector replied, “Caleb, after graduating high school and skipping college, you’ve turned to superstitions? Yes, our family had had some issues, but they were just accidents.

“Is your family’s business in trouble? Are you trying to profit from our misfortune? I always found you irritating in school, and now I think you’re even more ridiculous. As a former classmate, I suggest you stick to legitimate pursuits.”

Caleb was enraged by Hector’s response. “Damn it! I should have stayed out of this!”

He finally understood why Alexander felt frustrated when trying to warn Denton. It was like extending a helping hand, only to be met with ingratitude and criticism. He cursed inwardly, “Why should I care about your family’s problems?” Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.

Ignoring the ungrateful reply, Caleb immediately blocked Hector.

Seeing he had been blocked, Hector simply scoffed. He didn’t take Caleb’s words seriously. Only a fool would believe Caleb’s nonsense.

After working for several hours, Joe was on his way back to the hotel. Feeling a bit tired, he massaged his temples.

“Mr. Martin, have you not been sleeping well these past few days?” Paul asked.

Joe shot him a cold glance.

That look seemed to say, “What kind of stupid question is that?”

Paul realized he had asked something unnecessary. The two cups of coffee Joe needed every morning to wake up clearly indicated he hadn’t been sleeping well recently.

Thankfully, they would be heading back to Jipsburg tomorrow.

The quiet inside the car was suddenly interrupted by a phone ringing. Joe glanced at the caller ID. It was from Jipsburg City.

“Hello?”

“Joe, it’s me. Are you busy? Am I bothering you?” The car was so quiet that Paul could hear bits of the conversation.

It was a woman speaking, and she seemed to be talking to Joe in a rather coquettish manner.

Joe’s expression remained unchanged. “What happened?”

“My house caught fire in the middle of the night. My parents and I were all injured, and my dad was hurt really badly. When the fire broke out, I thought I was going to die. I kept thinking I couldn’t just die like that -not in such an awful way.

“And I realized there was something important I hadn’t done yet, something I hadn’t told you. Joe, I never should have left Jipsburg.”

Vera was practically crying as she spoke. Her fear was evident in her voice.

The fire had shaken her to her core, leaving the once proud Vera terrified.
